Many companies have successfully changed their public image not by changing their name, but by changing their corporate identity. GM could come up with a new logo.

Toyota was producing the MR2 Spyder just 4 years ago for the US and until 2007 for the rest of the world (We got shafted), but Toyota has proven they can do RWD, as evidenced by the Supra, MR2's, Cressidas, and older Celicas. In Japan they have some sportier RWD cars. The Mark X is an awesome car and would fit great in Toyota's lineup as a true Cressida replacement. Much better than the Avalon.

GM is the only major corporation HQ'd in Detroit. If they leave, it will be a huge blow for the city.

BTW, why does every domestic fan always say that "well i thought Toyota was perfect" and stuff. And don't say that "well a buddy of mine has a 98 Corolla and is like in love with it" because we all know that is ancedotal evidence. Seriously what gives you guys that impression?

Toyota requested money for their financing arm, GM requested money because they're essentially insolvent. Big difference.

My dad's Camry hybrid is an early build and was built in Japan but now all the USDM ones are built in KY. Great cars, I get 41 mpg driving it and I'm not kidding either. And I'm not exactly light on the throttle.
