I agree they're getting closer, particularly with the two-tone interior option. Though I'd still rather dump the Z71 suspension and Rancho shocks for Z85 and have the sunroof! I'm picking on the tires because the idea of having to pay $800 to replace the tires on a brand new $40K truck bothers me! (I had to do that on my '94 GMC Sonona X-Cab 4x4 -- the OEM Uniroyal Laredo's SUCKED). GM was using Bridgestone Dueler A/T D693 II on GMT800 Sierras. My friends' 2004 and 2006 Sierras both came with them. They look like this: The better Bridgestone Duelers that I have now on mine are the Dueler A/T Revo. They look like this: Another good Dueler that I had prior to the Revo's was the Dueler A/T D693, however they only appear to come in LTs these days. They look like this: I'll just have to wait and see what one of these trucks looks like when it hits the lot. The 6-speed trans doesn't appear to be coming in 2008, so it appears I'll have to postpone my purchase another year.

GMC.com has obliged with an interior shot from the SLT.

Jobs Bank appears to continue in a modified form of some sort. Good summary article in the WSJ Online. LINK

Agreed. I think the UAW needed to strike in order to sell the GM deal to it's membership. Nice article in CNNMoney about it yesterday. LINK

I hate the front plate law in CT. Ugly. Police use it as a nice flat reflective target for their laser guns too.

No offense taken. You're just much more thorough than I was investigating the option package. I stumbled upon while building a 2008, then went looking for a picture, then posted the thread.I was hoping this package would give the two-tone interior from the Z71 package available on the Chevy Tahoe which also eliminates the wood and makes it all brushed aluminum. Also the 2007 Silverado getting 18" wheels with the Z71 package while the Sierra only got 17" also struck me as odd at launch. I'm more a fan of the Z85 suspension than the Z71, so I'm still looking for GMC to offer a "sport" package alternative for the SLE or SLT much like the Denali goes for luxury. What I want is a new Sierra SLT 4x4 X-Cab (Fire Red) with two-tone interior (black with grey inserts) and all aluminum trim, with the 6.0 liter Max package w/6 speed auto, sunroof and Z85 suspension. Then I'd like it to have the All Terrain/Denali side molding, Escalade painted and chrome side mirrors and the smooth tailgate protector from the Sierra 2500. The 17" wheels don't seem bad, but I want OWL tires with an aggressive tread like the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's I have now. All of this encourages me to hang on to my current truck as GM doesn't make what I want. Tahoe Z71 Interior:

The option only showed up when I built an SLT. (It also removed the sunroof as an option when picking the All Terrain package...) The info page has a passing reference to SLE2, but the specs page confirms. Headline adjusted.

The Accord offers a manual transmission, hence the console e-brake. I wish GM would learn this *cough* CTS *cough*...

I noticed this on the GMC.com site when building a 2008 Sierra: All-Terrain Package, includes (PDL) Z71 Off-Road Package, (B58) front and rear carpeted floor mats with embroidered "ALL TERRAIN" logo, (RGA) 18" x 8" (45.7 cm x 20.3 cm) chrome-clad aluminum wheels, (QXN) P265/65R18 on-/off-road blackwall tires, (DL3) outside heated power-adjustable, power-folding body-colored mirrors, (Z82) heavy-duty trailering equipment, Rancho brand shocks that are White with Red letters, body-colored bodyside moldings with chrome accent, unique 4-bar horizontal grille insert with chrome surround, "ALL TERRAIN" badging on the front fenders, unique sill plates, unique instrument cluster with Z71 logo and mechanical brushed aluminum accents for instrument panel, center console and switch trim plates (GAT) Then I found this buried in the gallery: GMC Website Information

The 1.9L is the 4 cylinder model. The 2.8L 6 cylinder would add $2k+ in USD to the resale value. Then the age and mileage. Check Edmunds

While the cost of living in CT is pretty high, this particular house mentioned in the article is the exception -- even here! High And Mighty Mansion Rises Atop Avon Mountain

Edmunds Auto Observer had an interesting piece on this too. Article I'm curious what Toyota will do next. Press has been the American face of Toyota for a while now. Certainly shows Chrysler is serious!

Article Toyota's Press goes to Chrysler Former head of Toyota North America hired to be vice-chairman and president, sharing the titles with Tom LaSorda. By Peter Valdes-Dapena, CNNMoney.com staff writer September 6 2007: 9:50 AM EDT NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- James Press, the former head of Toyota's North American operations, has been hired by Chrysler. He will share the titles of Vice Chairman and President with former Chrysler chief executive Tom LaSorda. "Tom LaSorda and I are thrilled that one of the most successful executives in the history of the auto industry has joined our leadership team at the New Chrysler," said Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli said in a prepared statement. "Our top team now consists of a world-class 'supply' leader in Tom and an equally world-class 'demand' leader in Jim." Press had spent 37 years working his through the ranks at Toyota (Charts). After joining the company in 1970, he rose to the top job at the company's largest market, becoming president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor North America. He was the first non-Japanese to head that company and the first non-Japanese to sit on Toyota's board of directors. During Press' time with Toyota, that company grew from a small importer of compact cars to the second-largest seller of passenger vehicles in America, just behind General Motors (Charts, Fortune 500). Press will now be a member of the Chrysler board of directors and a member of the board of managers of Cerberus, the private equity group that recently bought Chrysler away from DaimlerChrysler.

I still don't see me trading in my BMW 330i for a CTS anytime soon. I bought a BMW because I wanted a driver's car...that does not appear to be the CTS's mission in life. That pump to set e-brake with a manual trans would drive me nuts. The Pontiac G8 stands a better chance of getting my money.
-
Ventura was a trim option on the Catalina in the 60s...a fullsize Pontiac with a "wheelbase longer than 116""...same as the Bonneville. I'll stick with Bonneville. Wikipedia even seem to agree with me naming the G8 as the Bonneville's successor. Real Grand Prix's are Coupes.
-
I'm glad they kept the red emblem. The pre-production G8 in Smoke Signals has the red emblem as well. Even better that I can retrofit the red tail lights if I don't like the clear ones. Maybe I'll de-badge the the "G8" from the deck lid altogether and get a "Bonneville" badge made for it instead!

Interesting how FBodFather and Pontiac Custom S both work for GM, yet appear to have vastly different views on this particular subject.

I stand corrected. (serves me right for not checking facts before posting :AH-HA_wink: ) Someone on my paper route had one when I was a kid...I remembered it as a GMC. The guy who re-did my Pontiac for me had a thing for El Camino's and used to buy up the late 70s/early 80s models and redo them...sometime with the Choo Choo Customs Monte SS-type nose, etc.
