My German Shepherd MacKenzie in "her" GMC...
-
Speaking as a truck owner, I have zero interest in a Hybrid pickup. The diesel option is far more interesting to me. All this focus on trucks and fuel economy and yet the 1500 pickups still don't get a 6-speed auto option for 2008. WTF?!

Link No Manual-Transmission Pontiac G8 for 2008 Date posted: 10-17-2007 DETROIT — Want the scorching V8-powered Pontiac G8 GT sedan coming in the first quarter next year? GM's performance division already will let you spec out the 361-horsepower G8 just the way you'd like. As long as you want an automatic transmission, that is. Yep, you read that right: The G8's probably the best thing to happen to Pontiac since John DeLorean bent the rules to make the GTO, but the first models shipped to these shores from Australia will have just two pedals, like it or leave it. Early adopters, it appears, will have to be satisfied with slushboxes — six-speeders with GM's Drive Shift Control manual-shift function, at least. But if you can hold off, we're betting a manual transmission for the G8 GT will be along later in 2008, but perhaps not until the '09 model year. Right now, Pontiac's G8 site says the automatic is the "standard" and only transmission offered for the G8 GT. And a Pontiac spokesperson tells Inside Line, "What we've said — and which is still the case — is that the six-speed manual won't be available at launch." So Pontiac will not mention a manual option for the V8-powered variant of the G8 rear-drive sport sedan. Further complicating the issue, press information disseminated earlier this fall by GM's Powertrain Division clearly indicates the '08 G8 GT can be fitted with a combination of the 6.0-liter V8 and a six-speed manual transmission — effectively the Corvette combo until the 'Vette got a standard 6.2-liter V8 for '08. But a powertrain spokesman says that information is a mistake, flatly adding, "There is no manual option for 2008." Self-shifters thinking they might get a manual gearbox with the base-model G8 and its 256-hp, 3.6-liter dual-cam V6 also are out of luck. The only available transmission is GM's 6T70 six-speed automatic — despite the fact that the same engine (with direct-injection fueling) already is teamed with a six-speed manual transmission for the Cadillac CTS. What this means to you: It's unfortunate, perhaps, that true believers will have to wait for what many will insist is the ultimate G8. But we'll gamble GM plans to bring it here sooner than later.

Hopefully we'll get some pictures soon to end all the speculating!

The SLE2 doesn't appear to offer a bench seat option. SLE2 includes: Seats: front, bucket, include six-way power driver and front passenger seat adjusters, front passenger manual recline and lumbar adjuster, adjustable outboard head restraints and storage pockets

Toyota drops to 5th place in CR ranking - Camry, Tundra, G6 not recommended
BigPontiac replied to Flybrian's topic in Toyota
Happy? Care to explain this part? Isn't this your former plant's baby? The least reliable car of all, according to Consumer Reports survey, is General Motors' Pontiac Solstice sports car. Its reliability was calculated to be 234 percent worse than average. It was followed closely by GM's Cadillac Escalade EXT, which is calculated to be 220 percent less reliable than the average vehicle. -
I think you're referring to this photo: LINK

Still sounds lame. I'll take the elegant simplicity of the hand brake in my BMW. My 1983 Subaru GL 5 speed had a hill-holder feature...loved it! Push in clutch pedal, then push brake pedal and the hill-holder would engage. My dad's 1986 Subaru XT Turbo 4wd had it too.

The Internal Server Error message is appearing more and more lately. Ironically, it happened 6 times as I tried to post this...

If you watch "An Inconvenient Truth" be sure to look for the part where Al is driving a late model Cadillac Escalade to his family's old tobacco farm. They only show the interior as part of the backdrop during the interview sequences.

One item caught my attention in the brochure around the All Terrain package features: - Luxury instrument panel Could be the SLE2, when equipped with the All Terrain package, gets the SLT's dash, much like the body colored mirror caps, door handles and heated washer fluid. Would just have cloth seats instead of the leather, no Bose, etc. Thoughts?

I really liked the '65 Catalina 2+2 conv sitting next to me. Someday I may need to look into picking one of those up...

You'll be back in the Pontiac fold before you know it. My car took 10 years, 3 body shops, 2 lawsuits and a trip to NM to buy a whole 2nd car to use for parts. It's all about patience and sticking to your dream...bumps in the road of life can slow you down, but keeping at it can pay off eventually.

See I told you bring the Hawk with a For Sale sign and show it!My class is tricky to win because a lot of the GTO guys come over and vote for the LeMans'. When I saw the wagon pull in, I thought I was screwed for sure. Very surprising day for me.

I believe it was a '55.That's it for pics -- I stupidly didn't charge up my camera battery the night before...that's as far as I got!
-
A few interesting shots from cars not in my class. This has a 455 in it!

Pretty sure he tied for 3rd place. (possibly 2nd)

I went to the Nutmeg Chapter POCI Pontiac-Oakland show on Sunday. There were a lot of nice cars out and competition was pretty tough. So much to my surprise, I took home a first place in my class! Who knew... I've attached some pictures from the show. Most concentrate on cars I was competing with, but there are a few others I found interesting included too. I loved the wagon! He was robbed -- didn't place at all. He tied for 3rd. He kicks my butt often at these shows. My car. I think he took 2nd place (possibly tied for 3rd)

I believe those are the standard wheels for the Sierra Denali, with a 20in Denali specific wheel being optional. The website appears to be "evolving" as it didn't have the All Terrain interior picture posted last week, didn't have Fire Red as a color option in the 360 gallery, etc. My guess is they don't have the correct image posted for the All Terrain wheel and the one pictured on the truck is what it will look like. It still has the same "bug" when you try to build a 1500 Ext Cab standard box 4x4 too on some pages and only comes up with WT or SLE1 as options -- I reported that to GM last year and it's still not fixed!
-
Congrats. What color combo and cab config?
-
Done. Hopefully people go to the auction and don't e-mail me!

You should post a link to your ebay auction on classicalpontiac.com and poci.org POCI requires membership to post, which I can do if you're not a member and point it at your auction. Also, Sunday is the Fall Pontiac Show here in CT if you wanna take a 3hr ride with your car... Show Info
