  1. Why is Reg selling his Aztek? I thought he liked it?
  2. I'm surprised you or your family don't have a AAA membership.
  3. Interestingly, this Sierra X-Cab was assembled in Oshawa, ON. For some reason I thought only the Crew Cabs were being built there when production converted from GMT800 to GMT900 with the regular and extended cabs being built in Fort Wayne. Maybe that was just initial rollout.
  4. I liked this Corvette Z06 KITT proposal... Link (more photos at the link)
  5. One of my local dealers finally has a 2008 Sierra SLT X-Cab 4x4 with the All Terrain package in stock. I've attached a few of the pictures I took for anyone else like me out there who doesn't want a Crew Cab. Too bad it's not red...
  6. Yes, I looked when the BMW Service Manager called and quoted me the price (they already had the car, slow leak in tire). The warranty/maintenance plan includes anything BUT tires, naturally :AH-HA_wink: The 2005 Performance Package my 330i has came with 225/40-18s in front and 255/35-18s in the rear (all Z rated). One rear tire is $286 at tire rack plus shipping plus mounting, balancing on flange-less wheels, tire disposal and tax. Cost was close enough to be a wash and not worth the hassle. Plus BMW gave me a free loaner while they had my car. They did a nice job and didn't even scuff the rim in the process. But you're gonna pay if you wanna play in this performance class.
  7. I'm still not sure the new CTS is for me...the G8 might be a better fit when it comes time to replace my 330. Word of caution: I think Cadillac uses the same Summer Tires with FE3 that my BMW has, replacing 1 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tire cost me $350+!
  8. Well at least it wasn't that pesky Lincoln Townhouse :AH-HA_wink: Seriously though, sorry to hear about your truck but at least you walked away and the truck sounds repairable. I was less than thrilled when a teenager hit my Sierra in Feb, but eventually everything was put right. Certainly a hassle, but there are worse outcomes.
  9. I sent an e-mail to POCI Headquarters last night inquiring about the status of the convertible and sent the eBay link for the coupe auction. Don Keefe was nice enough to send me the following reply:The auction listing is absolutely incorrect - the other XP-833 Banshee, the V-8 powered roadster is alive and well. It is owned by Chicago-based dream car collector Joe Bortz. I have seen it, photographed it and written about it. Nothing happened to it and it still in pristine condition. I think the price is remarkable, considering that the car went through the Barrett-Jackson auction in 2006 and sold for only $125,000 or so. The same guy also has a 1969 Trans Am for sale for $500,000. Hope this helps! DJK So, it would appear the auction's claims about the convertible are bogus.

  11. Both are worthless, though I find the OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics slightly interesting. Worry about a useful feature like bluetooth integration. What's next, pining for the return of tons of body cladding and thousands of tiny grey buttons spread across the steering wheel cover and dash? Wood paneling for the G8 Wagon? Maybe some fixed glass for the back doors instead of rear windows that roll down? Move the tach out onto the hood? As my Mom's 1998 Buick Park Ave had a HUD, I fail to see how it's a defining Pontiac feature.
  12. Constant business travel gets very old very fast. Eventually you start waking up and can't remember what city you're in. Changing time zones and trying to get all your money back for your expenses just adds to the *fun*. Hopefully GM at least lets you fly business class when traveling internationally.
  13. Here's what I got back from my auction question: That banshee does not exist anymore according to its owner. Thanks, Ben Clements Napoli Motors
  14. The 2008 Malibu has a tilting and telescoping steering column.
  15. So, that's like a $46-47K CTS. Wow.
  16. Grand Prix! New from Playskool! Don't miss the Rubbermaid edition...
  17. Sorry for contributing to the spread of misinformation (I just copied the eBay listing). I e-mailed the seller and asked if their ad was misstating the status of the convertible prototype and sent them this link from Hot Rod.
  18. From the Dec 2007 issue of Motor Trend: WHY "UTE"? IT'S ACTUALLY a contraction of "coupe utility," which is the term given the first car-based pickup when it was designed back in 1933. The ute is an Australian invention, the brainchild of Ford designer Lew Brandt, who created the vehicle after Ford management received a letter from a farmer's wife: "Can you build me a vehicle that we can go to church in on Sunday without getting wet and my husband can use to take the pigs to the market on Monday?" At the time, farmers relied on open-top "buckboards" as their all-purpose runabouts. Bandt's combination of a closed-cabin car front end and tray rear end gave the farmer's wife the comfort she wanted without losing the practicality her husband needed. The first ute went into production in Australia in 1934.
  19. 1964 PONTIAC BANSHEE PROTOTYPE XP-833 COUPE SER # : 66L23060 Color : Silver Interior : Red Engine : Overhead CAM Six Cylinder Transmission : 4/Speed Manual Miles : 1498 Miles Designed By : John Delorean Only 2 Driveable prototypes were ever built. One was a silver hard-top with straight six (OHC) engine and the other is a white convertible with a V-8. Only one survives today. Fiberglass exterior and steel underbody Adjustable Pedals Vehicle Documentation includes Bill Of Sale from Pontiac Motors and a Description of the XP-833 Project A vehicle design that challenged the limits of american engineering and thinking. John Delorean's vision for a pontiac 2-seat sports car, with long sweeping hood and short rear deck styling, screamed speed. This all original grey hardtop, with red interior, and Pontiac overhead CAM six cylinder engine weighed in at only 2200 pounds and utilized a unique solid-body construction of exterior fiberglass and steel underbody. The Banshee had all the elements of an awesome performer. General Motors executives viewed the concept to be too much of a threat to the Corvette and as a result instructed Delorean to cease additional development. Only two runable protoypes were build with one remaining. The car's influence on future GM products spanned decades, with some of the styling cues seen on vehicles such as the 1968 Corvette. Vehicle documentation includes original bill of sale from Pontiac Motors and a description of the XP-833 project. As part of automotive history, this specific Banshee was invited tot be displayed at the 2001 Meadow Brook Hall Concours D'Elegance. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history. This is a one of a kind dream car from General Motors. This is a must have for a museum or long term investor. This prototype is featured in all the history books of G.M. and was the stepping stone for future G.M. products. This very rare interesting automobile has only 1,400 original miles. eBay Auction (more pictures at the auction link)
  20. What's up with the big spoiler on the trunk? The Dec issue of Motor Trend has a G8 ad with that same spoiler...I hope they still offer the low profile version too.
  21. Once again, Holden kicks GM NAs a@@. That would have made for a differentiated GMC Canyon rather than what arrived at dealerships.

    BMW resale

A 530i should have an inline 6 cylinder under the hood. The V8 would be a 540i. I get about 27mpg in mixed driving in my '05 330i with that same motor. Otherwise, I agree...both governments are in denial about their respective economies.
  23. How 'bout: GMC-GUY ?
  24. Odds are it'll be the "G8 Series" just like they do with the G6. So I'd see the G8 Series as: - G8 Sedan - G8 Wagon - G8 Activity Odds are they market it as an "active lifestyle" vehicle, much like Honda tried to do with the Element, Nissan did with the Xterra or what Pontiac intend for the Aztek. Mountain bikes, surfboards or kayaks are likely props for the auto show debut.
