  1. Anyone ever used these guys (or heard of them) for inspection/appraisal services? I found them listed in Hemmings... http://www.i-van.org/
  2. It's listed for $21k. It was on eBay and didn't meet reserve a while back...and it got up to like $20,300 or something like that. The guy finally wrote back with the owner's phone number and said make an offer. It's on the West Coast so there would be shipping involved too. Work has been busy so I haven't had a chance to call. Still thinking about all this...
  3. Not sure if you tried Desert Valley yet, but they appear to have a few B-59s in their yard too. http://www.dvap.com
  4. I asked for more information and hopefully some undercarriage photos. We shall see. Did find an interesting interview article with the Pontiac Chief Designer at the time about the Safari (and Nomad): LINK Also, Production figures of the Safari vs. the Nomad. With some better wheels, it could look like this:
  5. I saw the B-59s listed in inventory after I posted the link...was curious if you'd pick up on them :AH-HA_wink: Saw his ad in Smoke Signals and was surprised at how many cars he has!
  6. http://www.indianapontiacs.com
  7. That motor is not looking like a 400 to me...looks like it might be the original 347 V-8 with different valve covers.
  8. I came across this 1957 Pontiac Safari and was curious about the value. Production appears to be about 1,300...running a 400 with TH400. Headliner needs work and it's missing a chrome piece on the back, but overall it appears solid.
  9. Exactly like my '70 New Yorker used to do! [so much so I got to install new motor mounts within the first month of ownership]
  10. And the grille is metal, not plastic! My first V8 powered RWD car...a hardtop even. The look from the guy in the shiny IROC-Z or Trans AM when I'd blow his doors off in that thing was priceless! 440 and front disc brakes (running OEM spec bias plys in 1988...)
  11. I shouldn't be considering this either -- but it's very close to the one I owned before -- not fond of the green interior, but the outside is dead on. eBay link
  12. This guy is recreating a GM show car...not making up his own design. http://wiki.gmnext.com/wiki/index.php/A_Tr...a_Cars_for_1954
  13. Link to Article Superior Glass Works to sell 54 Sports Wagon based on C5 Corvette About two years ago, there was a nasty rumor that Ford was developing sedan and wagon variants of (gasp!) the Mustang. Torches were lit and pitchfork futures soared until Ford totally debunked the rumor. But 55 years ago, something similar took place at the 1954 Motorama in New York when Chevrolet displayed a Corvette-based wagon called the Nomad. The difference in the two stories, according to at least one Web site, is that the public absolutely loved the show car's styling. Smelling opportunity, GM management rushed the Nomad into production without even one trace of Corvette styling. There are those who still hold a grudge against GM for not following through with a Corvette-based station wagon. For the latter fans, their 55-year wait might be over if they saved at least $2,300 a year. For $125,000 Superior Glass Works will sell you a 1954 Corvette Nomad recreated in fiberglass and fittingly built on a Corvette C5 chassis. The choice of engine, interior and wiring is up to you after you get it home and at extra cost. A $50,000 deposit will reserve one of the 25 copies to be built. Brad Peterson, owner of Specialty, tells us that pre-orders were not taken and no cars have yet been sold. But if you're interested, he said you can check out the Superior 54 Sport Wagon in person at Back to the 50s in St. Paul, Minn. June 19-21 or at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, August 6-9. June 2, 2009, Molalla, Oregon - Superior Glass Works today proudly introduces the Limited Edition Superior 54 Sport Wagon. "The Superior 54 Sport Wagon is a very special car," said Brad Peterson, owner of Superior Glass Works. "There has always been a mystique surrounding the Motorama cars and we are excited to offer our Superior 54 to a select few looking to drive their own piece of history." The Superior 54 Sport Wagon chassis is equipped with modern, high-performance, C5 Corvette suspension. Features include: The custom frame designed and built in partnership with Art Morrison Enterprises, Inc., including Morrison's front cross member, steering arms, sway bar, and power rack and pinion steering. The independent front and rear suspensions use 1997-2004 C5 Corvette components. The front suspension includes stock Corvette control arms, spindles, and brakes, plus high-performance coil over shocks in place of the stock leaf spring. The rear suspension utilizes a custom narrowed stock cradle, with the half-shafts and leaf spring narrowed accordingly. The choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transaxle. Superior Glass Works is completely tooled up and ready to build the Limited Edition Superior 54 Sport Wagon. A $50,000 deposit secures a spot on the waiting list for one of the 25 Complete Rolling Packages to be sold. The initial total package price is $125,000. 14. Edmunds reported that the Saturn Vue would be rebadged a Buick. Link to Article
  15. Since they're only giving "clues" and won't give up the VIN number, odds are they expect the car to be found.
  16. Reading the website for the contest, this gets more interesting:
  17. Same here... Not an IE issue either. It's almost as if backups kick-in on a particular schedule and consume all the server resources so the site becomes non-responsive.

  19. Link doesn't work. Topic title implies it may be a redundant topic to this one: http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=32956
  20. What else did you pickup besides the Solstice coupe?
  21. There's also more to "fleet" than just seeing the bar code from a rental agency. My sister drives an Impala, but it's a company car that she pays personal use $ to her employer on...but it's a fleet purchase. And her husband's Impala is her former company car that they got a huge discount on when it was due for replacement (and they'd had it since new), replacing a Taurus that pre-dated the Impalas as another fleet purchase by her employer. Next year she gets a Malibu. One of my co-workers just replaced his Grand Prix GXP with a G8 GT and seems to really like it.
