I see these every day. A local cab company has a fleet of them. As a purpose-built taxi, the looks become secondary to the function -- more like a Checker or London Taxi. Some of them are even fueled by CNG. Body-on-frame construction, deployable wheelchair ramp, and made in the USA. I hope they find a path forward.

Even less justification for the omission of a manual transmission option.

Oops, I'm not quite sure how I wrote extended cab when it should have been double cab. Its been fixed. Sorry, didn't intend this as a knock on your article. I'm not thrilled with the new cab configuration, but I'm at least happy that GM changed the name.

The press release also confirms the Extended cab model designation is gone. The new 'mini-Crew cab' model with front hinged doors and a pillar is called the Double cab.

Interesting how the seller notes the back window design as a key feature of the car, then doesn't include a picture...

You should find a low mileage 4-door, then use the JK-8 kit and convert it into a 2-dr SUV.

The Novamad is estimated at 400hp with the LS1. It's running a GM 4L60-E 4-speed automatic with radical shift kit with a TCI 4-Link Rear suspension with panhard bar and anti-sway bar, Currie Ford 9-in rear axle with 3.90:1 positraction if that helps for ideas...

Sounds like you need to get started selling the Green Tahoe, finishing/selling the Mother Truck, finishing/selling the wagon so you can get cracking on the El Camino!

As a current owner of a GMT-800 (2000 GMC Sierra SLE X-Cab 4x4), these new trucks seem to address most of the things I didn't like about the GMT-900s. The 4 wheel disc brakes are back as standard, the tailgate design is cleaner and that cheap looking single piece of black plastic on the rear bumper around the license plate is gone. I'm also hopeful that the "thin paint/thin sheetmetal" look when you look down the side of the current GMT-900s was corrected. The Silverado in particular looks a lot better to me than the current 1500 model since I like that the 2014 followed the front end treatment of the current 2500HD models. I've always felt the current Silverado 1500 model had an awkward front end, primarily due to that multi-piece front bumper. The new GMC Sierra styling may be enough to send me to a Chevy dealership...I'll need to see one in person. The headlight treatment and the foglights set in the chrome bumper with the black surround don't work for me in the pictures. The four biggest negatives I see: The screen in the dash looks small. The wide plastic border on the left and right sides of the screen make it appear that a larger screen was expected but not delivered. Rear bumper step. I hope this is optional as I'd prefer just to have a regular bumper without the cut outs. The rear door design on the extended cab models. I've had my truck for 12 years and used the back seat in the extended cab exactly once. I do, however open the rear cab door on the driver's side multiple times a day to allow an 80lb dog to enter and exit the rear of the cab. So I have serious concerns about the access restrictions this new door design will impose (and how flat the rear floor will be). Also, given that the only feature I disliked about the Ram was the rear cab design, GM has also relinquished the one feature that would have locked up my repeat business. RAM Details. Ram offers great details: dual exhaust, two-tone paint, Rambox, tilting mirrors for trailering, storage compartments in the cab floor, etc. It's disappointing GM appears to have missed an opportunity.

Few of the planes at my airport didn't fare so well with the storm...

I'm hoping if there are power outages, it's not 5 days like last year's storm. Dealt with all the yard and gutter cleaning this weekend. Forecast is for 75-80mph winds. I think the hangars are rated for 80mph or some such thing, so hopefully the roof doesn't get torn off...that would be a bad day for the plane and the Novamad (they share the hangar).
