  1. Just a thought... GM doesn't have any alternate fuel compact in North America at the moment. Maybe there should be more engines for the Cobalt, just not running gasoline. Diesel: The 1.9L CDTI ECOTEC is readily available in Europe in the Astra. I'm sure with some modifications it'll work in NA in a Cobalt. I think it'll go nicely against the Jetta TDI. E85: The Solstice GXP Drifter uses an E85 2.0L ECOTEC, so I think that means an E85 version of the 2.2L/2.4L engine is possible. Bi-fuel Natural Gas: The Cavalier used to have it with the 2.2L LN2 and ECOTEC. It wasn't carried over to the Cobalt though. Hybrid: Maybe it's coming with the BAS system after the Aura and Malibu?
  2. Not sure if I like the headlights, but the interior is plain sexiness.
  3. Are they trying to look like an HHR??
  4. The thing with the radio is that there's no power to it at all. The display is completely blank.
  5. It's been a little over six months since I first picked it up from the dealership. Got the first oil change back in April. So far there are three problems that popped up: 1. Engine will "hot-crank". The G6 is equipped with an electronic starter, opposed to a traditional one that you hold down until it starts, which is designed for remote start. Tap it into start and the car will start on itself. However, the problem right now is that it cranks longer than normal for it to start. 2. Radio will not come on with car occasionally, have to tap the power button repeatedly for it to come on. 3. Car outside temperature display will not show correct temperature at times. Once it was snowing outside, and the display said it was 10 degrees Celsius. In the last dealer visit, the PCM was reprogrammed and a new radio has been put in place. However that has not corrected the problem. Still waiting to go to service for the thermometer. Other than the three annoying flies in the jar, the car otherwise is still a very pleasant ride, and drives like a champ. 2006 PONTIAC G6 - AT A GLANCE Base Price: $24,495 As Tested: $27,895 * Engine: 3.5L OHV V6 (LX9 3500) * Power Output: 201hp @ 5600RPM * Torque: 223lb-ft @ 3200RPM * Transmission: 4-speed Automatic Current Mileage: 7700 kms Average Fuel Economy: 9.8 L/100 km / 24 MPG, mostly local driving What has gone wrong with it: - Engine Hot Crank - Seldom Radio Electrical Problem - Seldom Outside Temperature Display Problem
  6. Look at it closely... It's only $1000 that they are giving you. I'm pretty sure any of the cars that you guys are talking about worth keeping on the road is worth more than that. What's wrong of trying to keep that smokey 88 Corolla off the road? And I'm pretty sure it won't become the law, because we have it already. That's what emissions tests are for.
  7. Problem is, they don't sell at MSRP, and the offer price they have going on in "Current Offers" right now is identical. Both Cobalt and G5 Pursuit Air + Auto.
  8. Um... no they don't. At least last time I checked the Pursuit was the same price as the Cobalt.
  9. G6 posing strong sales... I hope that just means the mass public is finally waking up and not buying G5 Pursuits, instead of selling more to Avis. If that's true, GM, get working on a new Pontiac compact.
  10. Honestly the styling isn't much to be screaming about. Rear is from a BMW 5-series, rear door from a Grand Prix, and the front an Acura RL. Call me crazy, but that's what I think.
  11. Oh.... drive-thru banks, almost forgot that one. I tried it for fun once, then didn't go back. That one is fine, since usually there isn't that much of a line, and you can actually stop your engine while waiting for the guy in front to finish. But otherwise, I'm still rather against the idea of drive-thru, for the reasons I listed.
  12. Back when I was a kid, I thought it was cool and liked it. But since now I drive on my own, it's not that great of an idea actually if you think about it. When you're waiting in line, you're using your own gas when you keep your engine idle. And at busy hours, it can take long. Not to mention the greenhouse gas that you emit into the environment while you idle (Unless, of course, you're driving an EV1). With gas prices these days, I can imagine how much money I waste from idling in a drive-thru line. Also, another problem I figured is, if they gave you the wrong stuff or something's missing in your bag, you would have to run back and ask them. Double the worse, if you're half way back home or to work, you're stuck with stuff you didn't want but paid for. I've had that problem almost every time I go through a drive-thru. But if I just park down and run inside and buy my stuff and run back, I don't see those problems happening. No engine idling, and I get to watch over what I get. Helps my wallet, less hassle, more exercise (from getting out and walking). The only argument could be convenience during winter. But that's a non-issue actually, since if I'm in my car, I'm usually in my jackets already, so walking outside isn't that bad.
  13. I'll set myself a bit away from the others this time... I'm giving this one to GM Europe. The new Opel Calibra. 2+2 coupe, 3.6L DI Intercooled Turbo V6, LS2 6.0L V8 available. Replacement for the old Vectra-based Calibra, but this time it's moving up to compete with the larger Grand Tourers, so it's on lightly modified Zeta and packs a punch under the hood. Yes, it's a rehash of the one I did before. I've made some very minor updates and fixes.
  14. I think it's better as a Nomad, not an Impala. Or, take the rear bed-cap like thing off, replace the badges with Camino and call it a day.
  15. To be honest, the quick dirty design job looked a bit tired and old. I always think of the 97-03 Grand Prix every time I see it. But nonetheless I still like it, mechanically.
  16. Maybe... Give them Hydramatics in return for VQs?
  17. Actually, I figured I could be wrong. First, those cars didn't have Enterprise stickers on them. Second, there's a big B&L Motors sign right below the Enterprise sign, and AFAIR, B&L delivers cars for dealers, and possibly PDI.So those cars could be just readied PDI cars. I just passed by it just now and all of them are gone.
  18. There's base ones floating around here already, and production has started. I've seen them with my own eyes Not sure about GTPs though.
  19. Actually their new ones aren't that bad: The only complaint I have with this one is they should've at least depicted a driver in the moving G6. It just doesn't make sense to have a car driving and no driver in it. This one isn't bad as well: http://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehicles/pontiac/index.jsp
  20. I suppose you're talking about an old LaserJet 4 printer...It actually says "Paper Cartridge Load Letter (Size)". It happens when the paper detection flag is broken...
  21. Not sure if they are actually out yet, but this is certainly one technology to look at: http://www.vixlim.com/ It's a CRT with the thickness of an LCD. Looks promising that it provides the same quality as a CRT, since it is a CRT. EDIT: I think this is the one... http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/slimfithdtv/index.asp
  22. Um... It's not a new idea actually, IIRC Chrysler had been doing that for the Intrepids.
  23. Steel wheels lighter than aluminum??
