  2. So GM isn't learning from their mistakes... making the exact same mistake they did for the G6... delaying a coupe and powertrain options.
  3. It all started out on a day when my suspension was making a funny clunking noise at low speeds, about two weeks ago. I've talked some other G6 owners, and it was actually a bulletin, so I took her in. I brought the TSB number along with me, just to speed things up and help them out. First off, the guy didn't really pay too much concern, and started dissing me off with like "yeah we have those things already", and wasn't really letting me express my concern. Then it's the standard routine, looking up if there's other work to be done. Turns out that there's a huge list, ranging from brake maintenance and annual service. However, these were actually done, when I was in Waterloo at another Chevy dealership because of my location at that time, also for price (59.95 vs 99.95 per set, just to lubricate some slider pins and cleaning), and it was understandable that they don't have a national network for regular maintenance work, so they didn't know about it. I declined their offer to do the work, since it was already done. So the warranty repair work proceeded, after getting everything set up. Right around 1-2PM that day, I was notified that my car's work was done, but here's everything starts. Turns out that the guy was just trying to get some business on the phone. Over the phone, he was like telling me about my brakes. Content was basically, "yeah, your pads are going, and by the look you need new rotors too..." He made it sound like it was complete urgence, and tried to push me to make a decision immediately. I decided that I needed more research into better alternatives, since their quoted price was way too high. So once again, I declined the offer. However, when I got there to get my car back, I asked him if my brakes were metal to metal. His tone totally changed from what he was like over the phone, and it's like, "no there's more than 40% of the pads left, and whoever did stuff to your brakes didn't do it properly so there's still noise... blah blah blah". So OK, fine. I took my car and went home. Then today, the brake noise seemed to be a little bit more bothering than usual, so I decided it was time for another dealer visit, along with another TSB for cluster lighting. I know it shouldn't have happened, since I did my brake maintenance like 3 months ago in July in Waterloo at the Chevy dealership, which should then last me for a whole year (I suppose that's what "Annual Brake Service" means). My car wasn't even that active, had been in storage for most of August, and sparsely used prior to that, like once or twice a week. I've been using it more lately as I commute to work. So it's definitely not sitting to rust. Again, it was the usual routine, set up the repair order, look up the list as usual, and the same brake maintenance advisory showed up. Again, as I did it already, I declined the offer. So goes the repair work, and it came to the time I was notified. The service advisor claims that nothing is found and was checking with me about the symptoms again. I tried to tell him about it, and before I got to finish talking, he tried to stop me from talking and just seem to want to talk about "the condition of my brakes" again. He claims my brakes are "extremely dirty and all rusted out", so I was "recommended to do the brake maintenance" yet again. So I figured out, that didn't make sense, so I demanded to see what was the "rust and dirt" they were talking about, since the maintenance was done recently and couldn't have rusted out so fast. The advisor just shot back at me: "there's nothing to see, so do you want to do the brake maintenance?". I declined the maintenance, again. They also tried to take away the courtesy wash that was included, and completely lying to me about it. I know there was bird crap that was stuck to my car, and yet it was still there, "after they washed my car". I went back to the cashier, and told her that my car wasn't washed yet, and I was passed on to a service rep. The service rep had the guts to actually tell me this: "Oh it was raining outside, so it just looks like it's not washed." And yet it was only a cloudy day, the ground was dry, not to mention the bird crap was still there. I told him, if it's on the service order, I'm entitled to it, so please wash it. So he took my keys, looking very angry, and rinsed my car. I just have to say, me as a customer, I feel totally uncomfortable on the high-pressure sales tactic and the dishonesty that they've expressed, especially I know what they are doing. I've never had a service centre with such a bad attitude, and it could be me not giving them regular business frequently and only asking for warranty work. But anyhow, I just don't feel like I should be treated this way. Our family has been a loyal customer with GM, and I sure hope something can be done about this. We've never had this kind of crap from any other dealers.   6. Um... dude... I guess by now you would have figured I have a G6. And by far, almost everyone in my G6 group I've asked HATED the new GXP. And it's not like we're old. We're in our 20s, exactly the crowd that Pontiac appeals to.My biggest gripe about the GXP isn't its looks, is what's under that hood. All GM did was make the GTP look weird and misproportioned.

  8. They don't give you additional discounts because it's not third party. It's been factored into the car's base premium.
  9. It's fine because in most people's minds it's an old Crapalier. Their minds won't go that far.
  10. This is the exact same refresh as the Chinese Bora Sedan, it appeared in 2006, I think. The Golf is the Bora HS. I'm just surprised we are actually getting it here, it's Chinese designed.
  11. There's no Fusion S in Canada. SE is the base model. As for the dome switch thing, the last car I had that did this was my old 2002 Cavalier, but we all know mechanically it's a 1995. I just think having to turn on the dome light without messing up the dash brightness setting is more natural.

  13. Was on vacation to New York for the weekend, got a rental Fusion to play around with. Originally I was looking for another G6, but they didn't have one. Exterior I was given an SE V6 model, the base model with an upgraded engine, and paired with a boring silver colour. But the car still looked good, as commented by my friends. For one thing it does look better than the dark side (read: *cough* *cough* Camry *cough*). Interior At first I was worried about the size of the car affecting the interior, but I was proved wrong throughout the trip. The capacity is amazing on this car. With me and my friend both being 6 foot, we both sat comfortably in the same column, with tons of legroom. Trunk capacity is generous, we packed 4 small suitcases, and there was still plenty of space for our sleeping bags and stuff (it was a backpack trip). Maybe because I'm used to the lower stance of the G6, the driving positions were a bit off for me when I first got it, but I quickly got used to it. One thing that we seemed to notice with the car, is rear visibility is pretty bad. The way the glass slopes seemed to have created a massive amount of glare in the rearview. And yes, I know how to use dimming rearview mirrors, so that wasn't it. The interior controls were, um, stupid. I guess Ford figured they can save a few bucks by eliminating a switch for the dome light, and a fog lamp button. To turn on the dome light it was back to the way the early-90s car did it. Fog lamps were the same knob as the headlamps. And did I mention there were no automatic headlamps, it was optional? Kind of expected something like this would be standard these days. Another thing I noticed was the turning signal stalk. It's positioned too high, and it's very stiff for some reason. At first I always by accident turned on the high beams when I signal. Just like my G6, there were cupholders behind the shifter knob that obstructs your arm, although to a lesser extent since the holders were deeper, but they made up to that by putting one in door, which works much better. Another point to notice was the radio. Sound was average, but I have to say the quality of the radio itself was pretty bad. Yes, it had loads of features: Sirius, CD, MP3, Aux input, really anything you can think of for a typical base model car. But the uber-fun part? A radio with software that crashes. We tried using the MP3 CD feature, but then it resets itself for no apparent reason, and gave us a test LCD pattern. Mechanical It seems like all the pedals were "digital", and by that means it's either on or off. They're way too sensitive, like a slight tap would almost be like flooring it. It was just really hard to get a smooth control, tapping on the gas means everyone in the car jerking into the seat. It's not a loosen up or break-in thing, since there's already 13k on the odometer when I picked it up. It really did make the driving a bit uncomfortable. One thing that does deserve compliments is the engine. It did really pack a punch. Floor it down, and you get all those rampaging horses running on and on, or as my friend calls it, "tons of stamina". But the 6-speed wasn't that great. Shifts were smooth, but the tuning seems to be a bit weird. It made the engine very rev-happy, a little annoying during cruise. Maybe it's tuned that way to appeal to the import people. It just didn't feel right for me, coming from cars that don't rev high. Stiff seems to apply to the steering, too. Again, it maybe just me coming from the EPS in my car. But my friends did comment on the steering being too sensitive as well. Other than the weird tuning coupled with poor controls, it made an OK car. If you're looking for a great rental car for long distances, look no further. Otherwise it's an 90's car with a refreshed look. I just can't see myself owning one. It's just those little things that add up to make the car annoying. Polish up and put some thought to the interior, tune the controls for more refinement, it'll be a strong competitor. EDIT: The SE model doesn't have auto headlamps optional. It's not available at all.
  15. They need to get the security real tight and right. Huge opportunity of an "DoS attack" to your car. Otherwise it's a brilliant idea.

  19. Just keep it to Chevy and the Daewoos. Anything north of Chevy should have their own. But anything is better than the red colour Malibu radio I have.
  20. This has been done on the G6 coupe, but only works well when the car's tinted.
  21. According to the GM Online Order Guide, the G8 will have 4 different sets of wheels. Other things I noticed: * The key will be a folding blade * NO spare tire will be available for GT
