  1. Well the E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. No matter how you fill your tank, you cannot get more than 85% ethanol in your tank....so you don't have to worry about having too much or whatever.... Regular gasoline has some ratio of ethanol in it too....I'm not sure what the percentage is though...
  2. Again, just out of curiosity.....is that for a lease or purchase? $250 is a big difference. I would have chosen the Caddy as well.... So what are the new testing methods you're talking about?
  3. The way I understand it, any car will burn the E85, but prolonged use of it in cars not designed to use it will cause corrosive damage in the fuel system. I have filled up approximately 6-7 times with the E85 and the MPG drop is pretty significant. According to the computer, my average combined city/hwy with more city than highway was around 14.5 - 15 MPG. The same sort of driving averaged 9.5 MPG with E85. Seeing your average fuel mileage read 9.5 mpg when gas is this high will make you want to say a few words that aren't in your memory verse. Even though E85 is running around $2.50 / gallon (which is 30 cents cheaper than gasoline), 9.5 MPG is hard to stomach.... Also, when I'm running gasoline, I can baby it on the highway....around 65-70 mph and get around 20 mpg. Not so with E85. No amount of 'babying it' seems to make any difference in the mileage....
  4. Just curious, why did you choose the Cadillac over the BMW? BTW, I had an '03 525i and averaged 17.5 (city). I always thought the MPG was a little low (have no idea what the EPA rating was) but that car did what I wanted it to do...which was handle like a sports seadan should.
  5. So....let me get this straight....you want to like the Lucerne, but you're not a domestic lover. You drive a Lincoln and think the Mercury Grand Marquis chasis "feels" better than the Lucerne? GM really paid for you to come out and test the Lucerne?? Light on the entertainment.....heavy on the offending... Light on the informative....heavy on the smartass... Light on the people who love it....heavy on those who hate it... My measure of a good car has always been the good ole "does the shifter knob wiggle test". That is a tried and true measure of a car's greatness. And....as always....Toyota passes the that rigorous test with flying colors. I believe that is what you're real point is.....To show readers that Toyota is better than GM and you can't be biased because you drive a Lincoln and were critical of Toyota once or twice. Unfortunately, there are those that will buy into your opinion. Your assessment has zero credibility....at least with me.
  6. Forgive me for not doing a search and reading through millions of posts for this answer, but..... the lucerne replacement is going to be built off the zeta platform?? I didn't realize they could get such a large car out of that platform...? Is that going to be somewhere in the 2010 range?? And if they could build a lucerne off of that platform, why couldn't they build a new Riviera?? I agree, if they build a new Riv, it needs to be awesome....
  7. Fellas, Don't get your feathers ruffled too much by this guy. I couldn't get through the entire article, because it's boring drool puts me to sleep. I read enough to get the jest of his opinion though and he's one of many twerpy little writer types that wrongly believe in japanese superiority. Japan wouldn't know how to make a toaster if it were not for the United States, much less a car. Buick is doing just fine and the Lucerne is making headway. The Enclave is going to inflict damage upon the foreign brands....just wait and see. Have ya'll read the "Is buying American the answer to the perception gap" on http://www.friendsofbuick.com/about.html That is some good reading.
  8. I gotta say that I really wanted to like XM, but it's just 'okay' in my opinion. It was cool to drive from Texas to Colorado on a ski trip and be able to listen to the same station, but other than that.....it's just okay. Glad to see they're droping the price and I'm not knocking XM, but I'd rather spend the extra $$$ for the OnStar subscription.
  9. Dude, I can't argue with a lot of what you said here, so I won't. I will give credit to hyundai for building a decent car and standing behind it with a great warranty....and I'll grant you that Buick hasn't built a real "exciting" car in quite a while. I do, however, happen to think the Lacrosse and Lucerne are great looking cars (albeit goofy names) especially in a world of camry's and accords. I think their dollar value is high too, in those regards. I currently don't own a Buick, which is a direct reflection of the products they currently offer. While the Lasabre and Park Avenue were not real eye catching when they were being built, they did excactly what they were designed to do, which in my opinion was offer a large, reliable, QUIET, conservative yet slightly luxurious cars. There are people who don't believe those are admirable traits, but nonetheless, Buick did that better than anybody else. And they sold an assload of those cars and had japan attempting to copy them with the avalon. I'm with you on the platform sharing, but not on the defining mediocrity thing....because it takes more than design to make a car great....that's really the only thing they lacked. I have high hopes for Buick and fortunately, the future looks bright..
  10. Huh? Okay, I think what you're saying is it's probably not a dependable source of information. If I knew about GM future plans I wouldn't be reading things on the internet in an attempt to find out about GM's future plans. I thought it was curious that Wikipedia stated that those were the vehicles that were DEFINATELY going to use the zeta platform.....as if....there wasn't a doubt at all.... Now the people posting here, such as evok, seem to be in the "know" from what his last post stated. So.... what's up?
  11. How reliable is the information off of Wikipedia? It lists the 2010 Lucerne, 2009 Velite, and the 2009 Electra as vehicles that are DEFINATELY going to use the zeta platform.. What's up?
  12. No sir. You're not. I'm with you. However, I think the Avalon looks like the crack of the Acura's ass. My opinion is that the people that shop for an avalon or an azera are those that believe that japan builds a better car than the United States does. I believe that they've bought into the lie that American cars are unreliable and shoddy. It's this kind of thinking that makes me say words that aren't in my memory verse. I've heard it said more than once that toyota-son and hyndai-yata-moto are trying to "out Buick" Buick when they built the avalon and azera. Buick is synonymous with quiteness, quality, and roomy luxury. Everyone else is just copying the leader. I am glad to see a turn around in the amount of attention that Buick is getting from GM now..
  13. I think it's cool that Buick does anything to keep it's name fresh on everyone's mind, but it' hard to imagine that a spot on Monk would help sell a lot of Buicks. Personally, I like it when a car company sponsors a major sporting event, much like the Buick Open. That's HUGE exposure. I remember a few years back, during the US Open (tennis) Lincoln was the sponsor. My wife and I were in New York during the Open and there were Lincolns (with US Open on the door) running around all over New York City. They were taking the althletes to dinner, shopping, running errands, etc....very cool and the best exposure I've personally ever seen. Plus...the TV commercials they ran during the Open that year were pretty cool too......just my thoughts..
  14. I was waiting for the RWD Lucerne to come out, then I saw pictures of the new trucks and thought.....maybe I needed one of those......now I'm thinking I may need to wait for the Camaro to come out.......Who'd a thunk it? So many choices from the world's greatest car company. I love it. You guys talking bad about the mustang.....I've never been a mustang fan, but I think the current one is the best looking one so far. The Camaro, though, is much better looking and if produced like the concept will be an instant classic. What foreign car can come close to the kind of style and performance for the kind of money the Camaro will likely be???
  15. Yeah, it's important that people don't miss the point of E85. The mission is to reduce our dependance on foreign oil. All the experts say it will do that greatly if/when it's used on a wide scale. I assumed that many folks in the midwest would have it readily available...
  16. I've done a search and couldn't find any topic on E85, so I have to ask is there anybody using E85? We recently got an E85 pump at a Kroger gas station in Carrollton Texas. It's running $2.52 per gallon. The brochure states it's 100+ octane, but I haven't been able to tell any difference in power or otherwise since I've been using it. This is my 3rd tank and I have noticed a drop in MPG.....around 3-4 mpg less for city driving. Haven't been on a trip so I can't speak for hwy/mpg, but I could manage 20 mpg/hwy on regular...between 65-70 mph. The brochures they put out are pretty cool.. It says: The American Fuel....Fuel from the midwest not the mideast. So far the drop in mpg is the ony downside I can find...

    Tiger Woods' hat

I'm not a huge golf fan, but I think Tiger is great for advertising and I agree that it's good to see Buick continually getting the message out there about Lucerne. Some people wouldn't believe how valuable all the various promotions/ads are.... and I totally agree with your tagline/signature. I'm having a hard time waiting for the Enclave. Do you know if the AWD version is going to be available upon it's initial release?
  18. I hope these hold up as well in person because I'm liking both of them, but the Chevrolet grille is GIGANTOR. I agree with the others, the GMC looks a lot like the Super Duty. I really expected one of these to favor the Cheyenne concept we saw so many years ago....That didn't look like ANYTHING else on the road.
  19. The more pictures I see of both of these trucks, the more I like them. Don't know where everyone is getting them, but keep 'em coming...
  20. I wonder what that dude's opinion of the armada is? ....he's got a very trusting look in his eye.
  21. Ya know, that's a great point. I agree that C&D (and MT) is biased about their ranking/reporting, but I didn't come to that conclusion from just this article. This stuff has been going on for years. We just have to take it for what it's worth....(good photos).....
  22. a few factoids: 1. The Lucerne is a great looking car. 2. The avalon looks like ass. 3. The chick that does the Mercury commercials is HOT. 4. The Aurora was a great looking car. 5. The 300 looks good, but is like a tin can inside.
  23. Looks the same. Boring, very japanese-ish
  24. Now that's funny
