  1. To each his own, but you need to be thankful that you live in a country where you can afford to drive your millenia.
  2. The strangers in japan are better for japan. They are working to make their country better. The strangers here in America (at least some of them) seem to think that none of this matters. If japan is cheating so that they have an unfair advantage over American car companies, that pisses me off. If our government doesn't help the domestic auto industry level the playing field, then they suck.
  3. When I was growing up I knew an older fella named: Harry Gootus. No joke. Try calling information and asking if they have a Harry Gootus.
  4. Some light reading... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6487322
  5. Sweet! Much deserved. The Solstice is so much better looking than the miata, I knew this would happen.
  6. Absolutely stunning. Cadillac is world class!!
  7. It appears that the headlights are re-shaped. Not so round/oval...or whatever they are. It seems so useless to continue to come up with gimmicky things for this old platform (although 0-60 in 5.6 seconds is cool).
  8. I think you could get way more than that. A guy I work with has 370k+ on his '96 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup. Runs like it is new. He replaced the transmission around 320k and I suspect that was because he actually uses his truck to haul cattle trailers and haul hay, in addition to commuting to work. Prevenetive maintenance is a big deal and I am a believer in it as you are. I even flush my brake and power steering fluid every year or so. For some reason people think that cars last around 100k and then they're done. Not true at all. With some TLC, they can/will last an extremely long time. Keep taking care of it and rack those miles up!!!! I love hearing about that kind of stuff.
  9. At GM.com, GM is running a survey, whether they should build the Volt. We all need to vote....
  10. Even though this is a 'concept' vehicle, it is BRILLIANT. What a stunning design and unbelievable capabilities. toyota had me believing that the enviromentally friendly cars had to be ugly as hell. Actually I think all toyotas are ugly as hell, but I just thought the enviro cars had to have some funky shape to them. I wonder what your residential electricity bill would be if you were plugging this thing in everyday? I heard Rick Wagoner talking about GM continuing to invest in electric powered vehicles not too long ago. I remember thinking surely not....but I guess this is what he was talking about....BUILD IT GM!!!
  11. I don't think it's stupid at all. Have you had to have any major work done to him? Nice testament to GM quality.
  12. Yeah, winning the TOTY award is pretty meaningless at this point. After all, they compared it to a GMC, Cadillac, Avalanche, and a Sport Trac??? The article sucked, the competition was ridiculous and I agree they would have picked the tundra, had it been in the list, just because they favor toyota so much. Doesn't matter....with every dumb move they make, they show us how irrelevant they are. I'll bet anyone a quarter that the precious little tundra will be on the list next year and will win. I'll bet another quarter that it won't be compared to the tacoma.
  13. I thought Buick was being set up to compete with lexus and the like. If that is the case, regardless of how nice the Malibu is, a Buick version would be nicer and more feature laden. I don't think that this vehicle would be compared to any of the offerings from lexus, mercedes, audi, bmw, etc.... With all that said, this Malibu is gonna kick honda, toyota, and nissan in the nuts. The Enclave is a nice start to the revamp, but Buick needs/deserves more...right now.
  14. Except for the color, it's as goodlooking as the other Yukons. I wonder how GM comes up with those ugly colors...
  15. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
  16. There is something different looking about this production version that I'm not crazy about. I think it's the wheels. After staring at the 21s or 22s or whatever they were for so long now, these look kinda smallish and shallow. The rest of it looks absolutely gorgeous. Buick....give me back the 22s on the CXS though....
  17. If the President of the United States had said this, then I could see being outraged. But this guy is JUST an actor. A "juggler". A want-to-be- important guy who made a lot of money. That's it. Just a regular guy with a bunch of cash. Regular people say stupid stuff everyday....and much worse things than that. It was shocking to learn that "Kramer" is capable of saying that stuff, but as CARBIZ pointed out, people are people. They make mistakes, sometimes really BIG mistakes. For me, being so "outraged" about it is just a way to show everybody how "not racist" you are. For a guy who is (was) so rich, I will always wonder how sincere his apology was. Did he apologize so that he is not ruined as an actor or was it because he is genuinely sorry for what he did? I don't really care though, he's blown it as far as I'm concerned.
  18. I'd like to know what everyone's favorite engine is. Pick just one if you can. It doesn't have to be the biggest or the most powerful, just what you like or what you think is the most significant. Mine is, without question the : 350 cubic inch Chevrolet!
  19. Hey razor...stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel! I agree with what you said, but life's too short to linger on that stuff. For me what was really disturbing watching that clip of Richards was how out of control the dude was. I mean he was screaming like he was about to come out of his skin. What a wierdo. BTW, I love Seinfeld and Kramer's character. This stupid stunt won't make me not like those shows anymore, but I'll probably look at anything the guy does from now on in a different way. I don't give any of these filthy rich actors a pass on anything. I think all of them think they're better than the rest of us in some way. Bless their little hearts when they have to deal with difficult situations like the rest of us do, usually on a daily basis.
  20. Same thing I'm thinking.
  21. These are the same geniuses that made the ridgeline 2006 truck of the year.
  22. I thought it went without saying that Buick was expecting to gain converts from other brands, especially imports. Us having to wait so long for the Enclave to go into production, better be worth it. The "bugs" better be worked out and they need to get the V8 option available immediately. I read that Buick didn't want to introduce the Enclave initially with the V8, for fear customers would associate the V8 with poor fuel mileage. Sounds to me like something that Shannon guy came up with. He is so unimpressive to me....
  23. I would hate to see GM pull out of the market all together, but building the mini-vans they're building right now, they may as well pull out. I don't know how profitable that market is, but it appears to be, with honda and Chrysler putting so much effort into it....they sell a bunch of those things. I see them everywhere. Honda has taken the top spot away from Chrysler, which is a real shame. I have some friends with an Odyssey and while it is pretty functional, with some effort GM could top it!
  24. Looks like every other japanese/korean economy car. Stupid. Anybody here old enough to remember the soft drink back in the 80's called Rondo?
  25. I guess I'm just looking at this from a different perspective....I'm not arguing with the fact that hip hop is popular, but as you inadvertently pointed out, blacks aren't the only people that like hip hop....and those that are driving scions and civics probably can't afford a Lucerne.....much less a Lucerne with $10k worth of blingage. I do agree with you that the black community is important to American companies. But if it were me, I wouldn't go after the black community by way of insinuating that they must be jammin' to snoop dogg on the way to the Goodyear store for some 22's. Mr. Krinkle made a good point. Cadillac is doing well with the hip hop crowd without trying very hard. Caddy is just making high quality, gorgeous vehicles....and when you do that....they appeal to the masses... Maybe I'm wrong and this will turn out to be a brilliant idea, but for now I'm sticking with my gut which tells me: (best case) it's not going to work or (worst case) it's gonna alienate other "loyal" customers..
