This Toyota cost cutting has to stop... now they are putting Lexus IS tailights in as headlights on the new Camry!!! Stop the madness... This car's interior is one of the very few that I can say Toyota makes and it sucks. Don't tell me this is class leading in any way... it is still out classed and lower quality than the Accord and dare I say the refreshed Mazda Mazda6. The car will sell in great numbers only because it is a stable product but just like the last generation it won't be the best car in this segment.

Honestly, how could you intelligently call 369,293 sales a year from the Accord failure? By that rod, the Malibu/G6 combined are nothing short of a shit pile. For that matter in a very limited market of compact cars (expensive ones at that) the Civic demands a premium and gets it 308,415 times a year. Honda is a very niche company and seems to be just fine with charging a premium for its products and delivering high quality and desirabilty to an awful lot of people. BTW Combined sales of the Malibu/Maxx/G6/9-3 are: Malibu: 203,503 G6: 124,844 9-3: 24,108 TOTAL: 352,455 < 369,293 To be fair Accord/TSX/TL: Accord: 369,293 TSX: 34,856 TL: 78,218 TOTAL: 482,367 > 369,293 Accord > 352,455 Malibu/Maxx/G6 Coupe/Sedan/9-3 Coupe/Sedan Looks like you might be wrong about Accord and its derivatives. For anyone arguing that the refreshed W-Body's compete more directly: LaCrosse: 92,669 Impala: 246,481 Monte: 33,562 Bonneville: 10,037 Grand Prix: 122,398 TOTAL: 505,147 > 482,367 Accord/TSX/TL > 369,293 Accord > 352,455 Malibu/Maxx/G6 Coupe/Sedan/9-3 Coupe/Sedan While one could say GM wins the race if you consider the larger cars, look what kind of product development nightmare and waste that is. And GM really doesn't sell these cars at a premium and thus doesn't make as much profit. Inherently that list is the problem with GM period. Don't call Honda a looser... Toyota Camry/Solara: 431,703 Lexus ES: 87,208 (Oddly Toyota does not report ES sales directly... so this is an estimate based on overall sales subtracting IS/GS/LS sales) TOTAL: 518,911 > 505,147 W-Body... only three name plates each going for premiums.

My guess is that GM held costs down by using the EXACT same Avalanche bed and used that body crease below the tool boxes to conceal the differences in width of the vehicle. Probably later in this products life we will se an updated bed. Just look at lock placement and the shape and size of the triangle in the buttress.

Some people over exagerate the NEEDS of full size SUV users. Never would I call a fold flat or IRS a necesity. Period. It isn't a deal breaker like it would be in a smaller vehicle like a mid size or van. If you REALLY need a cushy on road road and plenty of back seat room... go by a Lincoln Town Car. This is still a vehicle that is to be used on and off road with towing being more prominent for this vehicle. A solid axel in the rear is MUCH MUCH better for towing. Relax. The interior and build quality and a reputation that preceeds it will sell these trucks with absolutely no problem.

Some sore loosers... its alright maybe we'll do it again next year?! Texas was favored for the win going into the game. Texas had a better defensive game and kept USC trying the running game. Make excuses about why either team got there but in the end mistakes and excuses ARE what lose games and points out where the other team capitalizes or WINS on them! Texas won fairly. Lets hear more about next year...

This shouldn't have been a Jeep or at least it shouldn't marketed as one. I don't see Jeeps demographic as going after this vehicle. I may be wrong...
-
Correct me if I am wrong but, aren't we only looking at the 1500 'Burb. The 2500 if built on the 900 frame will be the one to get the Duramax.

The eyes of Texas boys... The eyes of Texas!!! Burnt Orange '01 Chevy and a proud graduate of Texas!!! Horns over USC 41/38

2001 Chevy Impala 2001 Honda Accord 2005 Chevy Impala 2003-2005 Honda Accord Is GM trying its best to build a Honda Accord? Or is it a coincedence that the Impala appears just about two years after the Accord with "similar" styling? You decide... Let's hear your opinions:

My bet is that Motor Trend got a tip from someone far from the project on the inside or a supplier that doesn't really understand the product. This sounds to me like it is a misinterpretation of the Camaro project much like the Malibu "tall wagon" was a misinterpretation of the Equinox. Food for thought...

You Riviera most likely has a pressed in transmission oil cooler in the radiator of your car. You might not be able to see the leak at current but there is a chance that it is a pinhole leak in the pressed in unit and is burning off faster than it can accumulate. The tailshaft may also be leaking when you are running down the road and sling all of the oil off before you stop. When you shut the car off you no longer have any pressure... just some thoughts. If I were you, I would start by using a brown paper sack and rubbing all of the sealing surfaces checking for residue. If that turns up nothing, take the radiator into a radiator shop and have it looked at. In any case, you need to get the leak found. Transmission and torque converters do not 'burn' oil. If there is some missing, it was either low to start with or you have a leak. PS That last part reminds me... did you recently have the tranmission oil chaged? If so, there is a chance that you are just low and you are actually filling the torque converter and various other nooks and crannies in the tranny?!

EPA seeks improved fuel mileage standards
SingleStylish replied to Ghost Dog's topic in Industry News
The manufacturers it will really hurt are the ones that engineer around getting the best EPA fuel mileage. I believe Toyota has done this much before. For those car companies that engineer vehicles for the highest combined economy, I see this improving the numbers. -
Even better... a Quad 4 with a rusted out tailpipe still sounds better than a fart can on a Civic. AND I LIKE HONDA'S!!! My first car was an '88 Olds Cutlas Calais Q4.

I wish the telematics were good enough to capture the DVD Navi systems and put in information in addition to the live body on the phone. For example, I call for reservations or suggestions on a resturant. The OnStar folks read Zagats review of several nearby restraunts and as they read it the DVD Navi system pulls up locations and maps to those locations. It also would be good if video was available. I really wish OnStar was more interactive with the car itself.

I saw a guy driving an '07 GMC Yukon in Mansfield over the weekend. It looked much different moving and I must say it looks GREAT!!! -
[quote name='evok' date='Dec 15 2005, 01:13 PM'] And tell me again why the UAW is crying... this should outrage everyone that an uneducated workforce gets paid and will retire better than those who worked hard for their skills and earned there position. "Um... yes sir boss... I am quiting my crappily paid engineering job to go work on the line... it pays SOOO much better!" [post="59076"][/post] [/quote] Years ago I was told this story in reference to a GM stamping plant over in Grand Rapids. I do not remember it verbatim, but because of GM very liberal continuing education with their UAW staff, GM had a number of PhD. working the line, that were earned through GM tuition reinbursment program. In the end, it payed for them to continue what they were doing because the money and perks were better. [post="59077"][/post] [/quote] That infuriates me more now! You mean that the rank and file even have PhD's and still cannot comprehend the impending doom?! Surely, the educated are few in number. I would like to think that our universities in this country have taught people to think beyond themselves. I for one, enjoy being an engineer and couldn't even think about being a part stamping tech. What type of person would waste a great education? Why would anyone conciously choose to add little value to their lives if they are capable of so much more?
