  1. Hi everyone. I purchased my new black DTS (Lux III w/cashmere interior) just last Friday and am very pleased. After a difficult initial dealer experience, I received some advice from another poster in the "72-Hour Sale" forum and ended up with a darn good deal. The car is terrific. The ride, the handling, and the northstar engine are excellent. I'm surprised to read some references to the road manners being ungainly or it being heavy and and old school.....my previous car was a 2001 Chrysler Concorde LXi, and this exceptionally quiet vehicle rides more smoothly and handles at least as well. The turning radius is a large, but so is the car. I expected that knowing that I need a large car with tons of room and a large trunk. I rarely do any tight-location maneuvering anyway, so it doesn't concern me. With the front & rear parking assist there is no issue getting into or out of any parking location. As far as the styling, this vehicle turns heads everywhere I go. My co-workers have all been begging to drive it and every one of them comments on how people check them out when they're in the drivers seat. Maybe it's the black paint job with the tasteful chrome accents, or maybe it's the Art & Science design theme.....either way, this car stands out and looks like nothing else. I have co-workers who drive BMW's, Lexus, Toyota (Avalon) and other imports. Every last one of them is truly impressed by this DTS. At least two have asked for the dealer's business card and one of them is seriously considering an STS. Yes, I know I'm in the "new car euphoria" phase right now, but this Cadillac is winning people over. Am I their biggest cheerleader right now? Probably. But a vehicle always speaks for itself once a non-owner gets behind the wheel, and this car's a winner in my opinion.
  2. Just to clarify my earlier rant about the GM supplier discount.... The discount price was $47.2k, the total of payments would have been $49.4 BEFORE tax, tag, title (not including it). That was the frustration....I knew the supplier discount price was very close to either cost or invoice, but I also thought it was "no haggle". Maybe I'm doing my math wrong, but it appears that the dealership was trying to make a couple grand on the deal. Am I missing something? The DTS is an incredible car and trust me I wanted to buy it in a big way. I suppose my earlier statement that I wouldn't consider GM again is a bit strong...I just won't go near that dealership again.
  3. This event was one of the most frustrating vehicle purchase attempts I've ever had in my life. I was trying to buy an '06 Cadillac DTS (Lux III) through the supplier discount program. After leaving the dealership twice without the car they found for me and brought up from south Florida I don't know if I'll ever buy GM again. Somehow, the dealership insists that a $47.2 k supplier discount with $10k down and a $7 trade should at 0% should be a monthly payment of $699 for 60 months. Then miraculously the payment dropped to $589 when I left the first time. Then it was $558 when I left the second time. As they chased me out the door they could make it $540 (the second time I left we had gotten as far as switching out the license plates). A little simple math shows that even at $540 a month with 0% (plus downpayment and trade) I would have been paying $49.4k before tax, tag, title for a $47.2k vehicle. What the f......???? This is one of many reason why people hate GM. I did not have this issue when I bought my Chrysler five years ago, nor the Plymouth before that.
