  1. its safer in 3rd, cause they are after the 1st...? my little sis had a psycho ex once that went waaaay off the deep end. called her and threatened her and her friends safety, "checked" himself in and out of the hospital for suicidal ideations and wanted her to foot the bill cause it was her fault. i told her to tell him the next time he called "with a shotgun" against his head to be a man and put it in his mouth... (geez i hope blu doesnt see that). i finally got the chance to answer the phone one night and was proud that all i said to him was dont call this number again boy. the police told her to record the conversations with a digital recorder for proof in case its needed. could it be the douche that totaled the firebird we is talkin bout here?
  2. seen a plain jane 4dr plymouth valiant tooling down the road. had it been red i swear there would have been a mack truck tanker hauling butt up behind him heheh

  4. maybe being number 2 will work out after all Volkswagen Steals Toyota's Crown as World's Largest Automaker The people want an empire, apparently, with that unassuming little black VW bug at the head of it. The U.K.’s Guardian explains, "Volkswagen-Porsche has overtaken Toyota to become the world's largest car manufacturer as the German group benefits from state-backed stimulus packages around the globe." VW has "produced 4.4 million vehicles so far this year, outstripping its Japanese rival which has seen four million cars roll off production lines since January." Ironically, VW reached the milestone in part by taking over Porsche – which it was forced to do after Porsche failed in an attempt to take over VW earlier this year. "Of course," Autoblog notes, there is "some number play involved" in the Guardian’s numbers. "We're talking about the combined entity VW-Porsche, which has built 4.4 million cars to date, which is roughly 400,000 beyond Toyota's mark. However, Toyota halved its production earlier this year and shut down all its plants in February." VW also "benefited much more than Toyota from the European cash-for-clunkers programs," though Toyota saw more sales than VW spurred by the U.S. version of the car-swap program. The news doesn’t just push Toyota down a notch. Jalopnik notes that VW has "passed Toyota and GM at the top of the heap." America’s largest automaker – the world’s largest just three years ago – now sits in third globally. The change may not be permanent. The Guardian notes that Toyota "has the capacity to make 10 million vehicles a year but it expects to make seven million vehicles in 2009" as production picks back up. VW, however, may see its production increase long-term enough to stay ahead, or at least to take the title again even if it loses it later this year. After all, Autoblog notes, "VW's also got the edge on Toyota" in the huge Chinese market, "where it has spent years introducing models." By Sean Tucker source
  5. ... i think the trumpet player is flat... Dr Salesmans sounds russian too hehehe
  6. unfortunately no, i had to stop and help a family change a tire once, the dad ( i'll assume ) was attempting to lift the vehicle with the jack via rocker panel. it was a little nissan sentra, so i hastily retrieved the jack from my 1500 and lifted the car up off the ground. the guy had pulled off into the dirt and the oem jack was fully extended and the car still wasnt off the ground. people seldom think about putting the jack on the frame. and even though the impala has a bumper jack... uh, no forget that, i'm still going to jack her up via frame.
  7. pfft... glad i wasnt drinking anything, i'd be cleaning my screen. thats just funny right there.
  8. well, this is pretty shnazzy. will take getting used to but a lot better than what was the ticket when i first signed up.

  12. man i notice how much they hate on chrysler about their "dirty horrible cars" but um... half the list was from germany... with a rating of 0 of 10... and yet nothing said. further more they brought up the commander and durango and aspen... and yet said they wouldnt consider discontinued vehicles but arent those three done?
  13. America's Dirtiest Vehicles When it comes to pollution, these cars prove it's not just about fuel economy. Just because a car has low fuel efficiency doesn't mean it's the worst polluter on the road. The Chevrolet Suburban and Dodge Challenger are some of the biggest gas-gulpers available, but they don't cause quite the environmental harm other cars do. MORE AT FORBES.COM That title is reserved for vehicles that combine their poor gas mileage with high tailpipe and greenhouse gas emissions. Think along the lines of some of the bulkiest cars on the road, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Dodge Dakota. While fuel economy is linked to emissions, it's not the only factor. Pollution levels also have to do with the type of fuel being used and the age and condition of the engine, among other things. "You can have a really fuel-efficient, dirty vehicle and a really clean, not-so-fuel-efficient vehicle," says Karl Simon, a director of compliance and innovation for the EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality. "It really is pretty wide open from a technical perspective." Behind the Numbers To determine the dirtiest cars on America's roads, we used air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA rates air pollution on a scale of 0 to 10; the score reflects the amount of tailpipe emissions a vehicle releases. Vehicles that score 10 are the cleanest--they don't emit pollutants like hydrocarbon, nitrous oxides, particulate matter, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde. Greenhouse gas levels (carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane) are based on the vehicle's fuel economy and are evaluated on the same 0-10 scale. That score represents the "relative global warming potential of each car," the EPA says. For our list, we combined air pollution and emissions scores and then chose the vehicles with the smallest results (the greater the score, the more environmentally friendly the car). We broke ties by evaluating the combined fuel efficiency of each vehicle. (Driving a car that gets 25 miles per gallon rather than 20 mpg will prevent 10 tons of carbon dioxide from hitting the air over a vehicle's lifetime, according to EPA data.) We did not evaluate models that will end production after this year, like the Bentley Arnage and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster, or vehicles classified as "heavy duty," like the 3500 series of the Dodge Ram, which are exempt from federal fuel economy requirements. We also deliberately omitted some vehicles that rated higher on the particulate-emissions scale, including exotics like the Ferrari F430, uber-luxury cars like the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, and high-performance variants from Mercedes-Benz's AMG line. Those cars have marginally worse emissions ratings than some of the entries on our list but are produced in such small quantities and driven so infrequently--on weekends or on racetracks--that they often don't contribute much to air-pollution problems. Lonnie Miller, an automotive analyst for R.L. Polk, says it's OK that performance and design dictate the aim of those vehicles, while others emphasize fuel economy and practicality. There's a place in the market for each type, he says. Repeat Offender Even had we included those supercars, though, the Jeep Grand Cherokee still would have topped the chart. It scored a paltry three out of 10 for air-pollution ratings and two out of 10 for greenhouse gas emissions. The flex-fuel engine--prized because it uses a renewable resource that reduces dependency on traditional gasoline--on the Cherokee was even worse: three out of 10 and one out of 10 for the air pollution and gas emissions, respectively. In terms of finger-pointing, however, it's not just Jeep maker Chrysler that needs to clean up its act. In all, cars and trucks account for almost one-third of the total air pollution in the United States. And while EPA emission standards have gotten increasingly strict since they first were instituted in the early 1970s, there's still a long way to go, especially at home: 60% of the entries on our list are from domestic automakers. The remainder are German; no Japanese or Korean cars make the list. Of American automakers, though, Chrysler is the worst offender, with six vehicles on last year's "dirtiest" list (the Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Chrysler Aspen, Dodge Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota), and five this year. It's important to note that each of the cars on our list are street legal--and much cleaner than anything on the road years ago. "We continue to drive our fleet average even lower," Chrysler spokesman Nick Cappa said in a written response to the rankings. "Chrysler Group products are 99% cleaner than vehicles of 30 years ago and meet or exceed United States federal emission standards, the most stringent in the world." Going Clean Many auto manufacturers are making concerted efforts to produce models that are easier on the environment; most offer hybrid, compact or turbocharged 4-cylinder versions, all of which record low pollutant scores. Next year will see the long-awaited arrival of several low- and emission-free options, like the compact but "ecoboosted" Ford Fiesta and the plug-in electric Chevrolet Volt. Some high-end carmakers are making considerable emissions efforts as well, but don't look to them for the latest in high-volume electric technology. It's prohibitively expensive and technologically difficult to get anywhere near the same performance out of an electric motor as a combustion engine, and aside from notable entries from Tesla and (perhaps) Fisker, it will be years before any meaningful amount of electric motors find their way into high-performance and luxury cars. Besides, there's much to be done to improve the combustion engine, engineers from Bentley, BMW and Porsche say, either through increasing its efficiency or developing alternative fuels. Bentley developed the flex-fuel-capable, $245,000 Continental Supersports coupe for that very reason. "We believe bioethanol is a really good alternative to reducing CO2 emissions," says Brian Gush, Bentley's director of chassis and powertrain engineering. "This is a renewable source, which will be growing into the future." Simon at the EPA says emissions levels have indeed improved significantly over the last 20 years and will continue to do so. But with 40,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees sold this year so far, there's a long way to go. By Hannah Elliott http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_cont...tiest-vehicles/ top 5 cars on the list 1. 17. happy birthday yo. here is blatently superior than caddilac vehicles for you. (i hear tell the bmw will let you paddle shift on the first time out)
  18. dang it dude, that sucks... here in the small town of anderson we been seeing a lot more robberies and break ins. just last week a guy not 10 min from the hospital was seriously wounded when a guy robbed him and his daughter at gun point. his daughter started freaking out and the robber was going to shoot her so he jumped in front of her and they guy shot him in the back and in the throat... also there have been a few car jackings and in one case a guy jumped out in front of a lady in her car. when she stopped, about 5-10 people surrounded the car and they tried to rob her, ended up shooting her in the hand when she grabbed her purse back. i never hardly used it, but for the past month or 2 i havent left the house till i made sure mr smith and mr wesson were ready to accompany me. with unemployment going north of 10% im afraid we've only seen the beginning.
  19. turn that frown upside down.
  20. eh, if it was pork soda i'd be inclined to bite.

  22. went to a site that i used to frequent due to the wealth of information on 69 chevys. they had this little feature posted It’s 1970 and you’re enjoying a day at the strip. The typical cars file up to the line and charge from the gate. Then you see a 4,500-lb ’69 Chevy Kingswood 9 passenger wagon lumber up to the line, its massive body dwarfing everything else around. They can’t be serious! What’s that doing here? Before you can contemplate further, it launches down the ¼ mile and thunders across the line a mere 12.41 seconds later, at 111.88 mph. Stunned, you can’t help but think “What the hell just happened??” Well, the explanation is simple. This particular Kingswood (which was a trim level equal to the Impala in the 1969 full size wagon four model line-up) happened to have a 425-horse 427 cubic inch L72 under the hood, heavy duty 12-bolt Posi rear end and an F41 suspension…all from the factory. Chevrolet left no clues to any of this when it rolled off the line, and perhaps that’s what makes this wagon so special. It didn’t need a sporty coupe body style, or the smaller size and flashiness of the pony and muscle cars of its day. It’s wasn’t a stripped down light-weight either, running with the full factory stock Kingswood interior, including the 3rd bench seat, intact. From the factory it was just a big white, plain-Jane wagon; a deceptive cover for the pure power, no nonsense, factory drive train built for just one purpose: to win. Perhaps it was the ultimate sleeper. http://1969chevy.com/Leadsled.htm
