  1. Saw the "Precision Millimeter" commercial for the first time on TV, and I can't say that I'm impressed. It leaves me cold. This campaign has no emotional hook, nothing that makes me want to love a Buick. The visuals of the car in the commerical don't help either and seem to emphasize the long overhangs on the car.
  2. Good pricing, slightly less than the outgoing XG350. Considering that Hyundais are sold for thousands of dollars less than sticker, it will be a solid buy. The warranty helps make it a compelling buy.
  3. Is that high-blunt nose like that for pedestrian safety regulations? Other than that, it looks good, especially the interior.

    BRX Sketch

Agree that it's a horrible drawing. Makes the Commander look good.
  5. I think the factory was the main appeal of the Subaru purchase, along with the hybrid battery technology.
  6. The Gelandewagen is a classic, so it's kind of nice that it will stick around. What I hate are those pimped up versions with the blingy wheels.
  7. Buick modernized their logo a couple of years ago, and that's when the colors left.
  8. It's a Chevy Caprice, '87 to '89. For the dog, I'd say English sheepdog.
  9. I had to research this, but I found that the S10 Electric, which had the drivetrain of the EV1, was FWD.
  10. People sometimes really suck. I never keep anything worth grabbing in my vehicles, whether a package or a jacket, and I would never get an aftermarket stereo or even wheels because of the theft potential. My Prelude was stolen once when I was in Sacramento. I forgot to bring the Club with me, not that it would have made a difference. After a couple of weeks of it missing, I was about to get an insurance payout, but then it was found in Fairfield full of stolen merchandise. It had new scratches, speakers missing, busted antenna, holes poked in the interior, and glass everywhere. The sunroof deflector used to buzz at 75 mph, and that was gone too. At that point my nice car--now violated--instantly became my beater, and I had to go buy a new car, so that's why I got my IS300.
  11. There's nothing particularly interesting about this thing, but there's nothing that offends either. However, it's a huge improvement over the outgoing model. The front door seems to be a little short.
  12. Agreed. Overcompensating for the Charger.

    Retro Vinyl

And black vinyl bras, there is no tackier automotive accessory. I'd like stainless steel to make a comeback. Not as in Delorean, but Eldorado Biarritz.

    Retro Vinyl

Vinyl doesn't belong on the outside of cars. Vinyl roofs--what were they thinking back then? Or the woodgrain on station wagons or big lettering on trucks. This is something that should belong in the past. On sporty cars, it was kind of like old school rice.

    Silly Governors

Silly governors...I thought you were talking about Arnold. I've never experienced fuel cut-off myself.

    Buick's Popularity

The Buick fans on this site seem to be the most fiercely loyal and perhaps fanatical.

    Red tag Pricing

There seems to be another $500 bonus cash on Buicks for the "tent event" or something like that. I'm thinking now that a Lucerne is a much better buy than a LaCrosse, except that there won't be any initial rebates. I really wish the Lucerne had the HF 3.6 liter V-6. In general, G-bodies are much better than W-bodies, and they're just a little bit bigger, and the Lucerne is a lot like my old favorite, the departed Aurora, in concept.
  18. Toyota (my IS300). Mileage-wise, I drive the Prelude the most because I take it on long trips. The Silverado is driven about once a week.

    2006 Acura CSX

The CSX name was previously used for the Carrol Shelby version of the Dodge Shadow. Also makes me think of railroads.
  20. In the past, each vehicle represented a market segment. I don't know if they still break it down like that. Missing this year are the Acura RL, Dodge Magnum, and Mercedes SLK350, replaced by the A3, Miata, and Boxster. The 300C got upgraded to the SRT-8 model.
  21. The gas incentive does not make sense to me. The consumer is still paying for it by buying a vehicle with an inflated sticker. The benefit slowly accrues over two years. Why would anybody want this over an instant rebate?

    Lower Education?

I'm an old-timer. Class of '86. A month ago I got the announcement for the 20-year class reunion for next year. I went to Montemalaga, Ridgecrest, and Rollings Hills (now Peninsula) High School.

    Lower Education?

All public. Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.

    Red tag Pricing

The rebate in the western region for the '05 LaCrosse is $3250. However, the $1000 bonus cash does not apply to it. The '06 model has a slightly better warranty. I wish GM would go to a true simplied pricing structure.
  25. Regarding the AH-HA/Open Minded debacle, AH-HA posted a pic (Cobalt-related?) on a free imaging site, and Open Minded tried playing with the URL and posted a picture of a house, but it had nothing to do with AH-HA. Related to this, remember Booger's post that started the mess? Another fond memory, discovering the 2003 NAIAS info (including for the Cadillac Sixteen) early. There was a thread on each of the press releases, then it was all deleted.
