    Vector

I remember AutoWeek's harsh articles on Jerry Wiegert, Vector's founder. They implied he was a fraud. The original car kind of looked like an American Lamborghini. The interior was button-happy.
  3. Corvette Explorer Sport Trac Ram Quad Cab 330i IS350 The IS350 I'd have as the solo vehicle.
  4. The Jeeps probably sold. Nobody wanted AMC-brand vehicles. What are two Colony Parks doing there?
  5. The Lexus dealer gave me a keychain. I asked the Acura dealer to throw in a car cover and bra with the Integra. They later sent me a bottle of wine.
  6. Just raise the gas tax. Picking on hybrids is stupid. Construction costs have gone through the roof, so the funds that are available don't go far at all. The level of infrastructure needs for this country is almost criminal.
  7. I think it's been about 5 years since BMW offered a 4-cylinder in the 3-Series and Z3.
  8. The voice is tolerable, but overall, sounds pretty bad.

    Buick's Popularity

Buicks need interiors at least as nice as the current Cadillacs, and Cadillac needs to crank it up a notch.
  11. Oldsmobile was my brand, and now it's gone. Buick was also one of my favorite brands because there were so many Buicks in the past that I liked--the G-body Regal, the '90 Park Avenue, '79 Riviera, '87 LeSabre T-Type, '86 Buick Century T-Type, '80 Buick Skyhawk, plus the classic Buicks like the Wildcat and Boattail Riviera. However, I started losing interest after the T-Types went away and it seemed that Buick was just trying to meet the needs of the geriatric set. The newer Buicks are doing a better job of attracting buyers in their 40's, but I just don't find a whole lot that's special about them, like a Velite would be.
  12. The Lucerne seems to be getting lots of airplay now. I've seen the snowflake one a few times already. It's ok, but it still hardly gets one excited over the car.
  13. I remember doing dioramas as grade school projects, but I never really thought that people would do them as a hobby. These are very detailed, and I guess they would be considered a form of art. It reminds me of the elaborate miniature train track setups that some people do.
  14. Jay doesn't really say anything that interesting. "Kids don't try this at home. Man, this is like Terry Bradshaw on a Saturday night. Let's see what kind of damage we did. I would say the Honda is pretty much totaled. Now you're ok but these people, they'd be dead if you were in the passenger seat."
  15. It's funny that the second generation Impusle got the flip-up eyelids that the original Impulse had, but with round sealed beams. It had an ungainly look. The Geo Storm had flip-up eyelids also but with rectangular headlights. The Gen2 Impulse was very claustrophobic, unlike its airy platform-mate, the Stylus. There was also a more practical Wagonback model:
  16. I began the shopping day at 5 a.m. and did the Circuit City, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart thing. However, I did not buy anything from those places. It's not worth waiting in line. I won't do this next year.
  17. I find the wraparound headlight treatment, as first seen on the refreshed Ford Contour, unattractive.
  18. The Solstice is incredibly significant to Pontiac and GM, but to the overall automotive industry, not so much. If the new Miata wasn't out the same time as the Solstice, giving the editors the opportunity for back-to-back comparisons, I'd guess it may have had a fighting chance of winning. As for the Civic, Honda took some chances with it. From the 197 hp Si coupe to the Hybrid sedan, it is undoubtedly one of the most significant players in the compact car segment. I haven't been in or driven the new Civic yet, so I can't comment on it from personal experience. But there's nothing telling me that Honda has blown it with the new car, other than with some questionable styling. I thought that the 3-Series was going to take the award, but I recognize that as good as the car is, it's only incrementally better than the outgoing model. The new IS350 and GS430 are also great driving cars, but they don't provide anything that isn't already offered by BMW aside from the big engine in the small car.
  19. I don't understand the appeal of the four-cylinder G6's, but I've never driven a vehicle with the 2.4 liter ecotec. I have driven several vehicles with the 2.2 liter ecotec, and I don't find that engine to be particularly smooth. How is the larger engine? Smooth, fun to rev? More fun than the 3900?
  20. Giugiaro is one of my favorite designers, but some may say the designs of ItalDesign are too bland. The SVX is one my favorite cars from the '90's.
  21. It was a beautiful car, cursed with Chevette mechanicals. Mid-cycle updates brought a Lotus-tuned suspension and a turbocharged engine. The second generation car did not look nearly as good as the original.

  24. It would be interesting to know GM's total vehicle production (or sales) for the past 20 or so years. Still, it's not hard to see that GM has fallen. GM used to have a lock on the best-selling vehicles. A decade ago, Ford had five of the top 10 vehicles. How could Ford and GM let such a mediocre car like the Toyota Camry be the best selling car in the U.S.? I guess I'll answer my own question by saying that the Camry is a very good value, it's a safe (meaning does not require much thought) buy, and many competitors can't even match the low bar that the Camry has set.
