I seriously have to start hanging out with you more.

I don't go to the big company party - because I don't feel like people asking me questions about their computers while I'm there. Every time I'm there it's the same thing "Oh hi Frank, how's it going? I'm having a problem with my computer....." Now, I just stay in my office, finish up what I have to do, then duck out while everyone's at the party. Our group usually does a pot luck lunch that's much more my style....a few people I'm closer with talking about whatever pops up.

He sure does....

Satty's mom? (beat you to it, Fly) We got mostly wind with the occasional squall of heavy rain. We lost a maple tree that narrowly missed the house, but messed up the power lines going to the house. Spent all day today chopping that thing up with my father and adding it to the pile of firewood.

I don't think it's a case of being politically correct as it is making the guy swear on something that he holds near and dear. The Quran is his belief system of choice, so let him swear on it. Making him swear on a Bible is about as useless as making him swear on a Betty Crocker cookbook, the Yellow Pages, or the owner's manual for a Dell Dimension 4100.

I am really liking this copy of Third Day's "Christmas Offerings".

It's more substantial and and mature looking than the current Vue, and way more appealing than the Torrenox. ONenitpick - I think they should have went with taillights similar to what's in the Aura and Sky to keep the family resemblence.

Great. Now let's hear how the new stuff sounds. St. Anger was a huge, huge disappointment that didn't live up to Metallica's own hype.

"Stunning" is a bit too strong of a word to use for it. It's better looking than the sedan, but the side profile is just way too busy. Can someone officially declare the droopy headlights trend "dead" so that Chrysler can stop making their cars with them?

If I had to take a guess, you'd have to get 65R16s or 60R16s. But don't take my word for it. Use http://www.tirerack.com and goto their upgrade garage. Enter in your year and model, and they'll give you the stock size and what tires to get if you decide to upsize your wheels.

Bob's post may border on stereotyping, but I don't think he's exibiting any hatred that isn't the direct result of how he's been treated. Maybe the "hate" is just improperly placed. I'd say it belongs more to feminists than it does lesbians. There are plenty of women out there who are out to show the world that men are scum and unnecessary for them to exist. I've dealt with many heterosexual women that act like that, probably moreso than lesbians. What I usualy do is keep treating them nicely (no matter how hard it is), and they'll either come around, or be made to look like a fool in public.

I don't really understand the question, but I think in any case I'll answer it by saying, "not without ripping out a piece of me." I concede that my Cobalt is ultimately dispensable as a daily driver, but I don't think I can give it up without a fight, or a really bad emotional outburst. I gave up my truck when it became apparent that the rust problem it had was terminal, and I've thought about it every day since. And don't even ask about the Corvette I have, however, been thinking about what I'd do if I was the type of person that had no emotional connections to my cars and received no enjoyment from driving them or taking care of them. The answer: leased Hyundais every three years.

Cort, Thanks for the PM. My father emailed the guy from montemania yesterday. He's got a backup plan to eliminate the filler panels altogether and push the bumper in closer, a la the 70-72 Montes. That hood ornament was on it for as long as I can remember. My grandfather might have had it installed at the dealer (he also sprung for the dealer undercoating), or he may have put it on himself. ocn, looks like we're getting our wish. My dad is shopping around for sets of Rally wheels on eBay. Of course it was his idea, not mine

Thanks for the apologies, YJ. Now, let's have no more continuation of this argument in this thread. Thanks. Have you guys heard of Lynam? I got wind of them via XM, and I've got to say they're a pretty good modern interpretation of a classic rock band. If nothing else, check out the video for some nice shots of a 66-67 Chevelle SS convertible

I've been tossing around the idea of going on Hagar's "Are We Having Any Fun Yet?" cruise next year. I'd love to go if I can afford it. VH's implosion just blows my mind, if only because the whole situation can be fixed using the same techniques that you'd use to get along with people you don't like at work. If they ever got their act together for good, they could really knock the music scene on its ass. It's all Eddie, and I think even Alex admitted that once. He's just very...um...controlling. He just has no idea how to do what's best for the band, and insists that his fingerprints be on everything. Sammy's a great guitarist, yet you'll never see him pick one up any time other than his allotted three songs from his solo career. *pops VH-II in the CD player and proceeds to rock out*

It may be due to the utter lack of good modern rock stations on LI, but I can tolerate Nickelback. The Long Road is actually a pretty good album, much better than All the Right Reasons. Judge them on the songs that don't make it to radio. To hijack the thread even further, anyone hear the news that VH is going out on tour with Roth next year, with Eddie's son Wolfgang playing bass?

Oh no, it's not for sale. Not even close  That switch on the door panel is an aftermarket power door lock kit. It's also got aftermarket A/C (see the vent on the far right of the dash). Those wheels are actually gonna be changed anyway as the chrome isn't that great on them. I'm with you in pushing for a set of rally wheels, but I have no idea what my dad's gonna do. It originally came with black steelies and pie-pan hubcaps with a knight's crest in the center.

Here's our 1973 Monte Carlo. My father inherited it from my grandfather when he passed away. It's been in the family since new. It's chocolate brown with a tan vinyl inside. And it's got a 454 with 84K original miles. The body and paint are still in great shape, but it needs a little work to be roadworthy. Most of that we did this weekend - fabricating new brake lines and changing out the carburetor. All it needs is a set of tires and valid NYS plates and she'll be on the road again. And in case you guys didn't realize that I'm an Italian from New York, check out the clear plastic seat covers:

Did it hurt when it fell in your lap? Nice ride. I love it when people do mods to a car in such a way that it looks like it came that way from the factory.

Go here, choose 1968 for the year, then start ordering. Seriously, what I want can't be ordered, bought, or won on eBay.

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe

Welcome to the family, NOS. -
I honestly tried really hard to get into them, but couldn't.

ocn, tell them to bring you back a Solstice and alll will be forgiven  As for me - just spending it with the nuclear family. If I get inspired, I'll make a batch of blondies again. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Eh, in your case I wouldn't worry too much. Usually the GTOs I see are sold by dealers, and they almost always include their number in the auction since they're also for sale locally. All you'd have to do is find one that you're willing to go see, then call them up and set up an appointment to take a look at it.

I agree - at least one GM minivan is needed. Why, because there are those out there that default to buying a minivan once they get kids. Honestly, the Lambdas might be a hard sell to those people, who think the stigma of owning a minivan is a lesser evil than the stigma of owning an SUV. Even if they just make one - a Lambda CUV with sliding rear doors would do the trick - it'd be better if they stayed in the segment
