How mechanically inclined are you? Can you weld, paint or do body work. I could see you being like a kid in a candy store working in a restoration/customization shop kind of like Coddington or Foose but not nearly as high-profile. If not, try putting up with the dealership for a while, living life on the cheap, and go to one of those training schools where they teach you auto body. After you complete your training, make your move.

If you see a Vauxhall VXR8 coming up behind you, just pull over to the right and let him pass. It's not worth the trouble.

Congrats 68. I hope you and Julie enjoy a lifetime of happiness. Just don't let her buy any furrin cars.

I hope all turns out the best for you, Justin. I'm praying for a quick diagnosis of your problems and as well as a return to good health. I'm moving this to "To General Motors", because frankly I want GM to see this. I'm surprised GM isn't pursuing legal action against both JGR and Toyota. This situation is like a baseball player who announces that he is going to play for the Yankees next year, while he is still under contract with the Red Sox for the rest of the season. I know there is a legal term for this but I forgot it. NASCAR's all about the $$$$$$. I'm sure we'll soon be hearing soundbytes from Stewart about how Toyota is just as American as GM and how they provide jobs for Americans and blah blah blah blah. The best thing GM (and Ford) can do is pull out of NASCAR. Let Toyota have it and race against themselves, or better yet, let Honda and Nissan in. That'll alienate their core fanbase and cause the league to tank. Let the Big 3 throw their NASCAR money towards an existing racing series (ie: bring V8 Supercars stateside :AH-HA_wink:), or help fund the creation of a new stock car league that stands for what NASCAR used to.

Two words - insurance scam! I leave the details for you to figure out :AH-HA_wink: Seriously, though, there's something to be said for being honest with buyers. Rather than fool anyone into thinking the car is better than it is, just tell them everything you know that's wrong with the car and let them decide if they want it or not. Not disclosing problems could come back to bite you. If someone buys the car and gets their undies in a bunch because they didn't know it was a steaming pile of you-know what, you could find yourself in small claims court, and you could be on the hook for the damages. I looked up the Kelley Blue Book value on a 02 Sunfire GT with the options you listed, and the private party value in fair condition (the lowest condition they eate) is just over $4,100. If that's accurate, I think $2,500 is attainable for it.

ZR1 is cool. Just out of curiousity, I wonder if the LS9 is a high-revver like the previous two engines sold in ZR1s

GM drops Camry, Accord test drive program
z28luvr01 replied to buyacargetacheck's topic in Chevrolet
Here's a thought. Maybe GM pulled the program because they'd look foolish with a lame-duck 2007 Accord in their showrooms while the 2008 Accord is now public knowledge and soon to be for sale. It's very possible they'll come back with the program once they can get their hands on a 2008 Accord. -
She's a base model, not a GT. I think I remember the GTs getting the clear tails. Still, looks like one heck of a base model.

I'd rather just use my legs .

Well that does open things up a bit. I'm sure you can get a deal on a 06+ Monte Carlo SS, either new or used, for within your price range. Also look into a certified pre-owned STS V8. Resale value on them drops like a rock, and I've seen more than a few V8s with low mileage for around 25 or so.

How important is cargo and people-carrying capacity to you? I think a used (or maybe even new) Solstice or Sky might be in the cards for you. Hey, you know, GMTruckGuy74 is selling his, and he lives in NJ too.

Anyone for a new name? Villa Compagne (French: companion) Todos (Spanish: everything) All I can think of for now

Well, didn't some Honda executive say some time ago that the next Pilot can't hold a candle to the Outlook? Truth be told, though I'd never buy one the Pilot doesn't repulse me, except in base form with the thick black cladding.

I don't think this uproar has anything to do with the Ute itself. Once I get over the stupidity of GM's decision, I could probably convince myself to get one since it's definitely the type of vehicle I could use. My stupidity comment comes from the fact that GM clearly took the more difficult road in deciding not to bring it here as an El Camino. Consider:1) An El Camino can practically sell itself. As XP715 said, people commonly refer to any car-based pickup as an El Camino. People just know what it is. Marketing it as a Caballero or a G8 will be infinitely more difficult. 2) The Chevy front fascia already exists. Holden is slapping it on Commodores before sending them to the Middle East. 3) Does the Ute really fit in with GMC's or Pontiac's mission statement? I don't think so. Holden is billing the new Ute as a lifestyle vehicle as opposed to a workhorse, so I don't quite think it fits the "Professional Grade" mold. I suppose a lifestyle vehicle fits in with a youth-oriented Pontiac, but I think a lineup of cars (and the VE wagon) better suits the brand's mission.

So....I gather noone's going to agree with me that Arrival Blue pwns the other two blues. Fine!! *throws hissy fit* Seriously, though, I'd like to see this new color in person before saying whether or not I like it. The pics in this thread look to have been taken on a very cloudy/hazy day, so we might not be getting the full effect of the color.
-
You misnderstood me, Sixty, but we're on the same page. Rest assured, my first choice (by far) is for the Ute to be an El Camino. However, if it's not going to be a Chevy, it should be a Pontiac as opposed to a GMC because of the interior/exterior styling similarities. Given that GM is trying to establish a styling language for both Pontiac and GMC (and Buick for that matter), it'd be foolish of them to try to market the Ute as a GMC with the similarly styled G8 already showcasing Pontiac's design direction.
-
Wow...glad I couldn't make it. Even more glad that I didn't bring my car. I'm pretty sure the owner of that C4 cared. Corvette owners love their cars like their own children.
-
My latest method of thinking is: if the Ute isn't coming over as a Chevy, it has to come over as a Pontiac and sold as a member of the G8 "family". No way will the public accept two vehicles in the same showroom with the same exterior and interior styling but wearing different badges. It's the same reason why the Park Avenue should stay in China, and at least that car as a different interior. My opinion hasn't changed, though: The Ute should be a Chevy.
-
I'm not totally against the Ute being a GMC, but I think to make the biggest splash it should return as a Chevrolet. No offense to Roger or anyone else who prefers GMC over Chevy, but El Camino is a far more widely recognizable name than Caballero or even Sprint. Few people other than us car nuts even know that a GMC car/truck exists. Bringing the Caballero back before (or without) an El Camino would be like bringing back the Firebird without a Camaro, or Ford killing the Mustang, then bringing back the Mercury Capri. Send the Ute over as a Chevy first. They will sell every one they make, which could build the case for a Sprint/Caballero companion when NA Zeta production is in full swing.

There is, but here's the catch - it's in San Diego, CA. Your favorite state. :AH-HA_wink:

Arrival Blue Metallic FTW!!! Although, I have to say that recently, Blurple (aka Laser Blue Metallic) has grown on me, at least on the Cobalt.

Super hot, but you already knew that, didn't you Bob? I'll gladly take LAS or PHX over what I'm dealing with now (85* with 70% humidity), and if I never see another snowflake ever again, I don't think I'll shed a tear.

This is a bad idea. It costs $$$ to wipe away the Saturn name and more $$$ to establish the Opel name, which in actuality needs all the help it can get in this country. Opel's last tour here wasn't too successful.
