Wow...some hit. That truck gave up it's life to save yours. I'm glad you're OK, YJ. Lots of luck looking for a replacement. I don't blame you for wanting another S-10. They have their issues, but they're cheap and easy to fix, and, as you know, they hold up when it counts. You might be able to get an Xtreme (or the older S10 SS) for within reason.

I can shed some light, maybe. The new board forced cookie expiration after one week of signing in. A couple of weeks ago I found this setting and changed it to "never expires". Ever since then, I've logged in once after clearing my tempary files and cookies, and have been logged in never since. Try clearing out your temporary files and login again.

It's 10:1 now :AH-HA_wink: Don't the cops use the front plates to bounce the radar off of in speed traps? In any case, I think the number of times a front plate comes in handy for catching a criminal would be very small. All car manfacturers have ceased integrating provisions for a front plate in the front bumper, most likely for the less-cluttered look like Fly mentioned, plus for aerodynamics as well. Ever see a Solstice with a front plate? Terrible.

To quote whoever said this first, "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there." Not that it's a bad place, and living on LI I get most of the negatives associated with NYC anyway. It's just that most computer jobs in NYC basically require you to be married to your job. Not for me. I usually visit about twice a year - once for the NYIAS and once during the Christmas season. Pluses: - No mater what your interests, you can find something to entertain you - You're never more than a block away from a good pizzeria, deli, or bagel shop - Street vendors add some "charm". Belive it or not, it's fun haggling with a street vendor who doesn't speak English over the price of a $2 pretzel Minuses: - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - It's gotten dirtier since Bloomberg replaced Guiliani as mayor - Fast moving crowds can be a problem if you need to stop - Not a single car in NYC is without dings, dents, creases, or scratches Vipes, I'm with Stacy. Fill up a suitcase and move there, or at least spend a few months there. The experience will be a life changer for you. You'll become an adult faster than you ever could in a smaller town. There are an infinite # of job opportunities for you within walking distance of wherever you end up living. You like photography? Get a job as a photographer for the Times, the Daily News, or the Post. You like sketching? Sell some of your work on a street corner for a couple extra bucks. With one of the world's best mass-transit networks, there's no need to depend on a car for your livelihood.

Oil prices above $83 after setting new record

As I wrote my last response, I was in the middle of an IM conversation with my friend, a Honda-for-lifer, saying how he'd love to jump into an Aura. The car is getting people to notice. Haven't heard zilch about the CTS that's overly bad. I didn't ignore the cars you mentioned for the reasons you think. Give or take a car, everything from Solstice forward is solely the responsibility, from idea to production, of the current regime, and that was the basis for my list. I won't give full blame for any of the cars you mentioned, just like I won't give them full credit for the first CTS, the C6, the GMT-800s, or any other success story pre-Solstice.

The current regime has delivered, with respect to the products that have been developed entirely under its watch. GMT900s, Lambdas, Aura, CTS, and Kappas are all at or near the top of their class. The new Malibu, from what's been said so far, has got the goods to go after Japan Inc. Even ignoring specific products, what they've done would have been filed under "pipe dream" by any previous regime: - Productivity, eficiency, and quality is way up - Retail sales are climbing - Unprofitable fleet sales are falling - If I'm not mistaken, GMNA made a profit last year, and it's not out of the realm of possibility this year - Global resources are being leveraged instead of being run as separate entities - Excess fat in personnel and in production capacity is being trimmed - Operations not core to the company's MO are gone - The UAW has been forced to make concessions to reduce some overhead costs Everyone involved, The Rick included, knows the gravity of GM's situation. Anyone can spin it any way they want to, but actions speak louder than words. The "meet our demands or you might not have a job in five years" stance with the UAW says it all. Still, you can't deny that the right guys are steering the ship at GM. They do have a track record so far as I think I've shown above, and I think it is reasonably safe to have faith that the Volt will be delivered as promised.

Come to New York or Boston during the ALCS. It'll make that Pac-10 stuff seem like nothing. You all know by now that my heart belongs in the southwest. I don't think I'd ever give Atlanta a first glance when I look to relocate. I think I'd like to go there on a vacation, though.

I've found out that, when it comes to Corvettes, it's not about the people OR the trophies. It's about "My Corvette is worth more than your Corvette. I'm better than you. Your car is crap. You're crap." I've had to hear stories about how a 400hp tri-power is worth more than a 435hp tri-power because fewer 400hp tri-powers were made (I have documented prooof that the 435hp tri-power is worth more, not that I care), and how some 66 Corvettes came through the assembly line with only one fender emblem, and therefore those are worth more than the ones wih two fender emblems. Who gives a flying F? Not me. I'm just happy to be living out a childhood dream.

If people don't know I'm an enthusiast based on the car I drive or the way I maintain it, they usually get it by the time they see the wash bucket, sponge, and cleaning clemicals in the trunk.

Would I buy one for myself? No, because I'd rather drive a car, and the next SUV I own (if it comes to it) will be a 2dr Blazer/Tahoe/Jimmy/Yukon. Would I recommend one to my eventual wife, to a friend, a relative, or a complete stranger? Oh yell yeah. To answer the poll question, I voted "Yes - a lot". It's easily the best Buick built in a long, long time. Stylistically, the thing just screams "I'm a Buick", not "I'm a Lexus RX competitor", or "Rent me for just $35.99 a day at Alamo". The attention to detail an quality both inside and out is obvious. If the Enclave is any indication of where Buick is going, the marque has nothing to fear.

Is there an accompanying smell, and if so what is it? Did you take the coating off the rotors before you put them on? Some manufacturers spray a rust-preventative clear protectant on them so they don't rust in storage. If you didn't, that smell could be coming from that coating burning off. Put the car up in the air, take the rotors out, and spray some brake cleaner on both surfaces of the rotors and that should take care of it.

For seven out of eight semesters of college (my first semester I took the train), I drove something like this: but with two more doors, and one less turbo, and 13" steelies. 86 fire-breathing horsepower, only 65 with the AC on. So you can totally understand how I hate your guts j/k. Nice ride. I love that color. That dealer badge on the trunk has gotta go, though. How about some interior pics too

Pontiac moves up production of 2009 Vibe to Q1 2008
z28luvr01 replied to Flybrian's topic in Heritage Marques
If Buick really is getting a Delta II compact as has been rumored, they can just make a hatch/wagon variant off of that. Again - Pontiac does not need the Vibe, and GM does not need Toyota. -

I don't have much desire to live outside the US (though I am intrigued by the possibility of Australia), so I'd probably go with one of these: San Diego/Coronado Corpus Christi Phoenix Las Vegas

My official Ship Date 09/24/07 for you EU folks that is 24/09/07

I'm starting to wonder if I should book a room for the three of you at the No-Tell Motel. Seriously, though. Good luck, PCS. Do some good work over there for Opel, so we get some nice Saturns. Are you there permanently, or do you come back stateside after your assignment is done there? If I may, I'd also like to offer you a vague metaphor: "Removing one link destroys the entire chain" :AH-HA_wink: -
Yup yup. Still feels like yesterday to this New Yorker.

Women are getting a totally skewed idea of what it means to be "empowered", largely due to the current crop of females dominating the entertainment industry. They're driving the point home that empowerment comes from their sexuality and their ability to flaunt it and turn men into Jello. Listen to "Fergielicious", "My Humps", or "Bootylicious" to see my point(as an aside, Fergie's nowhere near as hot as she says she is in her songs. In fact, she's just plain fugly). As a result, women see wearing revealing clothing as a means of elevating themselves above men. However, they're in for a surprise if they can't find a rich guy to seduce into blowing all their money on them; if they actually have to enter the real world and get a job they'll find out that their primary means of advancing in life just isn't going to cut it. Instead, it will hold them back.

Want to know what's sad? I just saw a commercial for the GXP series that showed the Solstice, Torrent, and G6. The voiceover says that the Solstice GXP is faster than a Porsche Boxster and the Torrent GXP is faster than a BMW X5. There is no mention of what the G6 GXP is faster than, probably because it isn't even faster than a normal G6. This is a disgusting vehicle. Anyone who would buy this over a G6 GTP with the same powertrain needs to have their head and/or examined. yeah, really. "Got any Titanic jokes too? I mean, as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. You're soooo funny!!"

Choppin' Competition #44 - Trailblazer CPR!
z28luvr01 replied to Flybrian's topic in Choppin' Competitions
Well, the best way to build a business case for the Trailblazer is to introduce another variant off the same platform. I posted this in another thread: I'm all in favor of killing the GMT-355 and making the Colorado/Canyon off of GMT-360. -
I got turned away at the front door of the Hard Rock Cafe in Phoneix because I was wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt. I can sort of sympathize. I wasn't being ostentatious - it was just 115 degrees out - at night - and I just needed to use their phone (I lent my parents my cell phone). Southwest could have handled that better. They should have taken her into the jetway (off the plane where everone can hear), and maybe offered her a blanket to cover herself with on the flight, and make like they're giving it to her because they don't want her to catch a cold. Given that the A/C is usually cranked on airplanes anyway, that wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
