Being Italian, I can grow any facial hairstyle I want in two weeks. After being clean shaven for a couple of years, I'm now going for a shorter, tamer version of the Goatfield that FOG posted. The last time I let anything grow on my face, it was a soul patch that I kept for a little over a year. Having hair above the lips does get annoying after a while. -

Considering the 2.0 DI has similar HP and TQ curves to the non-DI 3.6, I'd say it's a no brainer to use it as a base engine. -
Most of the 2nd gens had a similar wheel. I like it, a lot.

You're not alone, BV. I'm not a fan, at all. It's not a cohesive design at all. The front looks Korean, the sides look European, and the rear looks Japanese. None of it looks American, and that's the worst part to me. Chevy's an American institution, but outside of the US it's just another car company. What would've been the harm in giving the car a thorough, distinctive American design and show the world what Chevy's really all about? When they're done right, American designs do sell overseas (HHR, Corvette, CTS come to mind). I'm thoroughly disappointed in how this car turned out, and as long as I give a crap about cars I'll never own one. I'll either run my Cobalt (whose design I much prefer to this thing) into the ground or leave the Chevy fold if I need my next car to be compact.

The only serious ding I've read about the G8 pertains to the V6 model, that it's sluggish, harsh, and not worth the savings over the GT. The 3.6L DI should fix all those, plus add some fuel economy.

Firstly, it's been announced that the 2010 G8 family will be offered with the 300+hp direct injection 3.6L V6. Given that GM has already said the Corvette is supposed to go on a ~500lb diet for the next generation, I can see Kappa and the Y Body merging onto something completely different. It could be just semantics, but anything's possible. How are Kappa sales doing worldwide (Solstice, Sky/GT/Daewoo whatever-they-call-it)?

I hate coffee (and most caffeinated products), and when I want some decaf tea I'll grab a Lipton teabag and make it myself, so I frequenting coffee houses isn't really my thing. My one visit to this type of environment was in a Borders cafe three years ago. I sat there and read for a while just to get away from the lunacy for a bit, and I had heard it was a decent place to meet people. The experience wasn't all it was cracked up to be IMO.

I'm really not a fan of anything Daewoo, so I don't care for this news. Given Holden's ability to make silk purses out of sow's ears, maybe having them control GMDAT isn't that bad of a situation. Now I understand the Opel/Holden feud. Opel wants Holden to be an outlet for its cars, and Holden is instead choosing to develop them "in house" (albeit with South Korean hardware).

It's like when you go to a rock concert and the band tells the audience that they're also a part of the band. It's a attempt to add a glimmer of hope into our otherwise pathetic lives True dat, but given that 1) the G8's main demographic is enthusiasts, many of whom like to row their own, and 2) the freaking manual is already available for both powertrains on the Commodore, not offering a manual option on non-GXP G8s is a pretty silly thing to do. Every one of them would sell. -

It's a column shift, right? My guess is you have a bad connection somewhere in the column where the wires are agitated by moving the shifter. You probably have to take the column apart and make sure the wires are OK (no bad insulation) and connected solidly with no corrosion.

I feel that too. A well done premium compact car could do very well for Buick. It's probably the best home for a Delta II car in BPG. As for the C&D article, that pic is nothing short of terrible. It's grainy, in poor light, and possibly out of proportion. I won't judge the car on this photo, becaue my gut reaction when I first saw it was, "A Buick Aveo?" Wait for the car first, I think we will be pleased. -

The problem is probably caused by the one that goes between the engine and the radiator support. It's the one that looks like a giant dog bone. That one is the most likely to go since it has to handle the most amount of stress from the engine compared to the others. Since it's on top it's actually not that hard to change if you can get your hands on a crane hoist for a while. You don't have the lift the engine out, but you do need to keep some tension on it so that it doesn't fall back against the firewall when you take the mount out. I've never heard of any of the other mounts going. I don't remember the exact location of W body engine mounts, but there's obviously one or two connecting the block to the engine cradle and maybe an additional top one connecting the top half of the engine to the pasenger's side somehow. If you can get an engine hoist, just do them all yourself (the lower two will need you to lift the engine a bit). If you need to pay a mechanic, I'd just fix the dog bone and go from there, because doing all of them is probably a four-figure job for parts and labor.

My dog Lucky developed a limp about three weeks ago. Given that it manifested itself after she a) had been roughhousing with our other dogs and b) jumped off the deck, I decided to have her looked at. The vet on call first said it was a sprain and gave me some happy pills to give to her. Even on the happy pills she still favored it and it got no better. So I brought her back in and the same vet ran bloodwork on her. The regular vet I regularly deal with said the bloodwork came back positive for Lyme Disease, and told me to stop the happy pills and give her these antibiotics instead. One week later, still no improvement. Last Thursday I take her back to my regular vet and he looks at her right front arm and says he wants to take several X rays of it. He does and finds a mass on the arm, and its a classic sign of bone cancer. He recommended me to an oncologist to get a bone biopsy and go over treatment options. Monday rolls around and I take her in. Here's how they explain it to me: it's a aggressive cancer that will spread no matter what. The most common method of treatment is amputation followed by chemo. If I do all that, she's likely to last a year. If I do one of those two, she has about 4-6 months. If I do nothing, she'll start to go downhill after a month. I agree to the bone biopsy because there's still a chance that it could be a more treatable form of cancer. They take her in the back and schedule her for the afternoon, She's only supposed to spend one night, but she ends up spending two because an all-hands-on-deck situation at the hospital delayed her surgery. I picked her up today, with a satellite dish, some more happy pills, and some new antibiotics. I should have the biopsy results by next Tuesday. If it is bone cancer, I've decided that I shouldn't go for their treatments. Aside from the costs, which are astronomical, I cannot see putting her through the rigors of tradtiional cancer treatment only to put the inevitable off slightly. I am going to pursue a holistic approach to managing the cancer, which focuses on using diet and immune therapy to help the dog's body fight the cancer on its own. I know it's a Hail Mary pass, but the alternative is too barbaric and brutal that really doesn't accomplish much. Here's a pic of her, pre-tumor. Her whole arm and shoulder is shaved bare from when they did the biopsy. So yeah, so far being 30 isn't that great.

Get yourself a door panel removal tool. You just have to find where the speed clips are on the panel, stick this thing intehre so that it grabs a clip, and push against the door to pop the clip out. It's possible you may break a clip (or two or three) because they do go brittle, but they do have them in Autozone. Heck, I have a whole container of them I don't need anymore and you're welcome to them. Ebay is your friend. You should be able to transfer the mounts from your radio to this one (or any 82-89 Delco unit) without a problem. As long as you get a pre-90 GM Delco radio it should swap right in. Ih 1990 they did change the connectors in the back, but there are adapters readily available.

Well, aside from the fact that I never liked the 91-92 Firebird nose, that's a very nice car. The TPI engine from what I remember is a pretty sturdy engine that'll hold up for a long time if you keep up with PM. They also respond very well to even light modifications. 330hp is possible without touching the bottom end. The F body convertibles were contracted out to ASC. They have the distinction of weighing exactly the same as their fixed roof counterparts. The added weight for enforcing the car as a convertible is negated by the removal of the huge heav glass hatch.
