Surf City Garage Killer Chrome
z28luvr01 replied to Intrepidation's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
All my car care products are from surf city garage now. I've used their beyond clay, nano seal/shine, wash, and carnauba wax and all of it is amazing. It's somewhat pricey when it's not on clearance, but man it is well worth it. -
Other stuff I've been eyeballing
z28luvr01 replied to Camino LS6's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
The stepside is gawgeous, primered fender notwithstanding. -
As soon as I read that, I immediately thought of this. Had one of these been available when I was truck shopping a couple of years ago, I definitely would have sprung for it.

Agreed, I highly doubt there will be an Opel-badged car wearing Cadillac sheetmetal anyime soon, not when actual Cadillacs with the same design language will be availalble in Europe. Of course, every time news of a new Opel breaks cover, the burning question for us ends up becoming "Will it be sold here as a Buick?"

I nearly lost my lunch when the narrator in the 2nd video said "This is the kinda stuff you see on Camaros"

Kia News: Kia Renames The K9 To Quoris For The Rest Of The World
z28luvr01 replied to William Maley's topic in Kia
This is the best name ever, because everything Hyundai/Kia does is awesome. If you don't like the way it sounds, it's because there's something wrong with your ears. If you don't like saying it, perhaps you should get your mouth checked out. All joking aside, the name is awful, as is the car. -
PickupTrucks.com: World Exclusive (Sort of)! 2013 Ram 1500 R/T Exposed
z28luvr01 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Ram
I like the 08-12 grille better, but that's hot. I agree with you Roger. A Chevy/GMC equivalent to the Ram Express would satisfy a lot of people including myself. -
The Fiat thing might be fugly, but so was the Sprinter, and commerical outfits bought them in spades. The Fiat will probably get a decent amount of sales out of curiosity. GM had better have something up its sleeve for this market segment. Passenger vans. cargo vans, and cutaways do generate a lot of sales and they'd be foolish to just solder on with with the Express/Savanna.

Edmunds Inside Line: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Spy Video
z28luvr01 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in GMC Trucks
A couple of loose thoughts: 1) Is Chevy moving to the "phantom crossbar" on the trucks too? If so this could still be a Silverado 2) This is most likely an HD-spec truck, whatever it is.I base that on the wheelwhell gap (I could fit my head in there) and the tall mirrors. The grille that's on it might be different from its 1500 siblings. 3) Though there's a fair amount of padding on top of the hood, it looks to be a pretty tall, upright front. I still stand by my statement that there's some GMT-400 in this. 4) Side sculpting, from what the camo shows, looks fairly similar to the current Silverado. 4) The turn signals blink a little too fast, like someone used LED tails with a flasher designed for incandescents. Either way, LED tails are part of the picture. -
Truck Trend: 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe Caught Testing in Michigan
z28luvr01 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Chevrolet
I am getting a very GMT-400 vibe from this. It appears to have much tidier dimensions than the current Tahoe, and the front seems more upright. Maybe GM is holding to its promise to put the full-sizers on a diet. -
Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that some people like Metallica and some people dont? What is this world coming to?

Chevy Cruze Wagon or Opel (Buick) Astra (Verano) Wagon?
z28luvr01 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
The Cruze hatch fixes much of my design gripes with the sedan. The wagon replaces one gripe with another. I agree with the masses though....giive us the Cruze hatch and the Opel wagon. -
Good Chevrolet VS. Mustang Comparo...
z28luvr01 replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in Chevrolet
Thanks. A very good read. Despite being at a distinct on-paper disadvantage, in the real world the ZL1 is at worst equal to the GT500, depending on your priorities. Nothing changes the fact that these are both very good cars, and both will only get better in the future. Having the Camaro back has been good for both Chevy and Ford. -
I can't say if I agree or disagree with shortening the 2013 Malibu, but I think I can explain out the reasoning. If you remember, the 2008 Malibu was supposed to take on the volume of both the 04-07 Malibu and the 00-05 Impala, as the Impala was expected to move to Zeta. When the Zeta plans imploded Chevy needed to backtrack on future Malibus to re-accommodate a FWD Impala. I'm thinking that Chevy won't have a problem accommodating people who something roomier than the Malibu via the new Impala or the Cruze. Personally, I do like the styling of this Malibu. It's to bad about the fuel economy though. All that extra expense for not much in real-world gain. Are there similar complaints about the eAssist-ed Regal?

GM News: What's GM's Plan To Solve The MPG Problem With Trucks?
z28luvr01 replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Yes, plus there would be oodles of room on either side of the engine, so it'd be easy to get at it when you have to (a good thing for "work trucks") With all the money they spent on that engine, it was a shame for them not to invest in it. They did flirt with turbocharging it. The '02 Bel Air concept had a turbo'd Atlas I5 that put out 315hp (big news back then when most cars were fortunate to have over 200) -
GM News: What's GM's Plan To Solve The MPG Problem With Trucks?
z28luvr01 replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
There's no reason to doubt that the next small block will match the Ecoboost in fuel economy and hp/tq, Ecoboost requires premium to get its lofty numbers. IMO the 5.0 is the better engine to buy if you're shopping for an F150. Still, it's probably a good idea for GM to test the waters with a turbo'd V6 in the next ful sizers, if nothing else than to have something to market against the Ecoboost. -
Fiat News: Fiat Throws In The Towel On 2012 500 Abarth Orders
z28luvr01 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Considering that not too long ago we were debating whether or not the 500 was a failure or not, the fact the've sold more than they could build is very good news. -
Pets Now wear Seatbelts in New Jersey...
z28luvr01 replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
I always secure my dog via seat belt harness for all but quick (<5min) trips. He's 16lb and won't survive being thrown headfirst into my dashboard in a collision. I agree with it being common sense. if you get the right harness, the dog will still have some mobility even though he is restrained. The penalties are over the top though. At worst, the offense should be treated as if a human passenger was in the car unrestrained. -
I actually kind of like how the Malibu taillights look on that sketch. The lights themselves might not be the best looking of those in Chevy;s current stable, but they do work with the car. It's the 2002-Corolla-inspired grille and headlights that have me worried. That is one design that should not be revisited.

What the Hell I’ve Been Up to For the Last Two and a Half Weeks
z28luvr01 replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
Well, congrats on gettng into a journalism program. Your writing talent matches your sketching ability, and I mean that in a good way. College will only add a couple of coats of wax to an already good product. Also congrats on the Astra. At 36K miles its barely broken in, and it should end your string of bad cars. Though I have to ask why this over the lime green Beetle vert I posted in the other thread. I mean, it's the perfect vehicle to rock out to your Miley Cryus CDs -
That's a great price, especially with a body that looks cancer free. Would you use it as is, or have it be a donor for Mothertruck?
