  1. I'm in the middle of repairing a catastrophic RAID 5 failure on a server at work. - oh fun! At least I'm able to do it from home.
  2. Beauty's in the eye of the beholder - I love the SW.
  3. From your pics it does look rough but doable. When you see it in person, look for some bubbling around the A-pillar and around the rear glass. I'd consider walking away from it if either of those are present. Anything else is repairable. Good luck.
  4. Agreed - Cruze is still lame. Has there been confirmation that there's no coupe?
  5. And we're all tied up. It's gonna be an epic series, that's for sure. If only the umps would stop blowing calls. They've been terrible throughout the playoffs.
  6. Bans for both of you
  7. I'd get one of these instead. They work fantastic.
  8. It won't. I talked to the engineers and the contours of the two trunks are different enough that the Solstice roof won't graft onto the Sky. The said they "were working on something", but we all know how that turned out. I did see one and sit in one at the NYIAS08 press days.
  9. To look at it another way, GM spent two and a half years creating technology (where there was none before) that will deliver on what were at the time empty promises made by GM's PR about a concept that was essentially based on vaporware.
  10. Problem solved, on the cheap I'm sure someone mechanically adept can tune a carbureted 350 to flirt with 20mpg highway.
  11. I'd do it.
  12. New on-site gas vendor at work starts in Nov. Rumor has it that it'll have an E-85 pump I'd strongly consider one when I get my head above water after I move.
  13. Are those FlexFuel badges??? I wonder what engine is in there, and if they offered it on the coupe?
  14. I'm still on the fence, but this is the most convincing piece of evidence I've seen so far.

  16. I'm going to be moving in the next couple of months. I found a condo that's perfect with one exception, possibly: No hoses to wash the car. With me being me, the tiny detail of not being able to wash my car myself is a dealbreaker. A popular solution for this problem seems to be using one of these waterless car wash liquids. Of course I'm skeptical because the last thing I want to do is scratch my paint. The one that seems to be the best one out there is Optimum No Rise. All the folklore I've read/seen points to this being a pretty good product. Does anyone else have experience with either ONA or one of the other waterless car wash products? if not, what do you condo/apartment dwellers do to keep your rides clean/ Thanks in advance.
  17. The Corvette might be out of touch with the import humping circle of friends that the author hangs out with after a long day of writing articles about humping imports, but in the real world the Corvette is still very relevant and well respected even among longtime import buyers. That said, I agree with the idea of offering a de-contented Corvette that eschews the gadgets and nannies somewhere in the mid to upper thirties.
  18. Doesn't Hemmings have an online classified section? You could also try Special Interest. Not exactly model specific, but not a general classifieds either.
  19. Well, they currently have a *very* under utilized production line capable of building Zetas right here on this continent. However, we may have to wait until the VF cars are designed on the North American version of Zeta
  20. eleventybillionjillionzillion!!!!!!111!!!!1!!11 off the top of my head, I'd say the bare minimum should be 383ft-lbs. Two blind monkeys should be able to accomplish that by randomly bolting pieces onto the bottom end. A fairly good number would probably be north of 450. My father is putting a 383 stroker kit into a mid-90s LT1 for his Bel Air, and between that and the other mods he's doing, he expects around 465hp/480 ft.lbs. out of it.
  21. *ahem*
  22. That's where a car with an Olds 350 diesel comes in really handy. Once you finally pass them, stomp the gas, and they won't be able to see their own handlebars. That kind of attitude just sucks. I won't ride with the group that I mentioned earlier, or any ride led by the leader of that group, because I couldn't stand the cyclists' attitude towards anyone other than themselves. It's people like that that make the road unsafe for those of us that follow the rules.
  23. Most of the people I ride with are very respectful of motorists. The local bike club grooms them on how to safely interact with motorists from day one. Still, I rode with one advanced group that had a complete disregard for the rules and didn't give a crap about the line of cars forming behind them. I was the newbie in the group (and the slowest), but I didn't let that stop me from yelling at those who didn't acknowledge the cars behind them.
  24. Some rail covers with a period-correct font would be very cool
  25. Whatever you do, don't use an oil-based cleaner like Armor All. That will permanently change the composition of the leather, and over time it will dry and crack. The owner's manual for my car says to use a detergent soap and warm water to clean. I've also used Mother's Reflections Cleaner/Conditioner with good results. Now I have a bottle of Meguiar's Gold Class that I can't wait do be done with. It's OK, but it kind of lays on top of the leather as opposed to going into it, unless you *really* work it in. Next time I think I'm going back to the Mother's stuff.
