  1. I like it, a lot. The front simultaneously looks like the GMT-900 HDs, the GMT-400s, and the early 80s C/K trucks with the stacked headlights. The side sculpting fixes the biggest styling complaint about the 900s - the doors have no detailing at all, and as a result the truck looks really plain without a bodyside molding. If they were still making the Avalanche, it would look absolutely killer with this styling language.
  2. Let's not. Let's instead make a concerted effort towards getting stupid drivers off the road once and for all.
  3. Passed the written with 100% the first time. Passed the road test on the third try. Go ahead, laugh.
  4. For now, I'm going to hold steady with the Colorado while I go through a "major lifestyle change" (to be expanded on later). It's been solid as a rock since I bought it. Once said lifestyle change is complete (hopefully by this time next year) I could be in the market for something "fun" to occupy the other part of my garage.
  5. That looks like a mid-70s Camaro headlight bezel in the lower left
  6. Spoke to someone last year at a alt fuel car showcase at my job. They had a rep from GM with the Equinox HFCV there. He said that though the Volt has been the big noisemaker for GM, they still haven't dropped the fuel cell program. This is a good move by Toyota, and I hope GM is still pressing forward as well.

No power since Monday at 4PM. What's left of my food is now sitting in the garage as the temps are colder there than in the fridge. Slept last night 6" away from my gas fireplace with 5 layers of clothing on and 2 knit blankets. My sister who lives 5min away has her power back, so I have a place to go if this drags on too much longer. As far as damage goes, I lost only a piece of aluminum fascia from the garage.

We're on the "dry" side of the storm (meaning 3-6" of rain). Still, we were told by the local power authority to prepare to be without power for 7-10 days. Irene knocked me out for 5 last year. I have more than enough nonperishables to get me through, and I cooked up some of my meat from the freezer so hopefully it'll resist spoiling for a bit longer. Even if I did lose the perishables, there's no big monetary loss, not worth the cost of fighting the mobs to buy a $350 generator. I'll still have running water, a gas range top, a working gas fireplace, and a propane barbecue. Work shut down preemptively until 11AM Wednesday, subject to change.
  9. In the second pic above there's a '70 Chevelle sitting there right in front of it that will likely meet the same fate. :explode: :explode: :explode:
  10. Jeers...to the idiot that allowed this to happen. May his ass be glued to the driver's seat of a 1985 MItsubishi Precis for the rest of eternity.

  12. EPIC FAIL. coming from the owner of an extended cab pickup with rear opening extended cab doors.
  13. Yeah, people are stupid. Interesting thought, but I hope any new Silverado SS gets a little more thought than the previous one. Many have reported that the Escalade drivetrain used in the previous SS was actually slower than the 5.3 powered trucks. Stuff the Corvette engine and tranny into it, keep it 2WD, regular cab only, and Ford and Dodge won't be able to catch it. A wrinkle to think about...aren't higher trim Silverados currently rolling 20s of similar spec?
  14. This. You've already gone the beater route before, and none of them ended too well for you. Plus, you'll probably lose more than $500 if you decide to sell the Astra. It's an Ecotec, so it's going to take a heck of a lot of abuse to kill it. Change the sensors, or have them changed. Another piece of advice, get the codes scanned anyway. The PCM will hold on to them sometimes even though the light isn't currently on. On the better scanners you'll be able to get a trouble code history. Go to your nearest AutoZone, Advance, etc and borrow their scanner. It'll take all of ten seconds in the parking lot to get a code readout. Write down any codes that it finds, and when you get home use the google to help you find what they mean in plain English.
  15. Agreed, saw one in NYC this weekend and I was repulsed. I get the case for a car like this, but does it have to be so fugly?
  16. Yep, that's the stock ride height for a base 2500 with the 6.0. A friend of mine has one just like that in white. The springs in it are quite impressive. We once loaded the bed up with firewood and there was hardly any sag.
  17. It's pretty close. Like the difference between the Camaro concept and the production version. No freak outs, please.
  18. Agreed. I'd rather V8 supercars die with dignity.
  19. Nice to see you posting here, Guy. Your presence is much appreciated. RE: your first point - I wonder how much the Commodore's racing pedigree comes into play. Given Holden's involvement with and success in V8 Supercars, i doubt GM would alter a successful formula too much. Though some pretty decent handling cars have come off Epsilon II, I can't think of a single race car driver that would prefer an Epsy over a similarly sized RWD car. But with the Commodore's main competitor going FWD-based, I suppose anything is possible.
  20. Before the tin foil hats come out, this is one of those "no sh*t Sherlock" articles. By 2017 Zeta will be eleven years old and past its expiration date. Alpha and/or Omega will likely take the lion's share of Zeta vehicles.
  21. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. if you're mainly scoping this out so that if you do buy it you're too strapped to get the Camino, it's probably not a good idea no matter what condition it's in or what its fate will be. If the Camino is what you really want, why buy anything else? You have assets you've been willing to unload/trade for a while. Keep the guy on the line and try to work something out.
  22. Or, if you were flirting with the idea of a modern color, how about the white pearl that Caddy has been using for like the past decade? That carries with it the added bonus of letting you keep the tan interior.
  23. I'm thinking that a really good color for it would be either silver metallic or that steel blue, like the one commonl seen on 64-67 GTOs. Something to accentuate the body lines that the car's current color pretty much makes invisible.
  24. that's actually quite nice. The color has to go though. I think it would wear the color scheme you have in mind for the '77 Camino very well. Maybe a straight up trade of either the Tahoe or wagon?
