Eckerd had a Silverado SS Hallmark ornament when I was building care packages a couple of weeks ago. Waaay too much money for what amounts to a Hot Wheels with a Christmas tree in the bed.

It really is not fair to compare the XLR to the Corvette because, aside from the Y-body they're entirely different. The XLR is meant to go after the SL and the SC430, none of which would scare a Corvette driver. The XLR trounces both of those handily, and the V while not as powerful as the SL600 or the AMG SL55(on paper) also costs 25K less.

I would go to Windows Update and download all required patches for your system. When you did the restore you may have wiped out some of the newer ones. Although...... I have a similar problem on my desktop at home (up to date), so I'm sort of in the same boat. I guess I can just download Firefox, but it'd be nice not to have a broken piece of software on my system, especially one that I can't get rid of.

I thought about that too, but I think the frame around the door glass of those pickups probably would exclude them from the wiki definition. Any piillarless hardtop needs frameless windows. BTW, that base Tundra is NASTY!

Assuming I'm not heading down there to replace the Cobalt (I wouldn't even think of that), for my 2nd car I'd throw practicality out the window. I would strongly consider getting a gently used CPO GTO, SSR, or even a Corvette. If I'm limited to new cars, I'd get, in this order: Solstice (only if I can get one without being raped by the dealer) GTO (torrid red or impulse blue) G6 GTP coupe (electric blue) HHR (I'd buy it in either laser blue, orange, or purple, and paint it black above the beltline) Cobalt SS/SC (victory red, replace wing with LS style wing)

<shameless plug> Or they could do this. </shameless plug>

As far as retractable hardtops go, I think the SSR is about as innovative as they get, folding in half clamshell-style then stowing vertically behind the seats so as to steal no cargo space. Plus the SSR's bodywork really pushed the limit of GMs steel stamping ability. It really is a rather impressive machine.

Not to mention the current Cobalt SS/SC, which spanks them all. In all seriousness, I would encourage anyone to take a ride down to a dealer and ask to test drive the SS/SC - especially with the G85 package (LSD, recaro seats). Sh*t, my LS Cobalt takes 90* turns at nearly 60 and cloverleafs at at least 50, with no howling from the tires. There's no reason to think the SS can't top that easily. Go ahead, give the car a fair chance. It'll be very hard to walk away from it without putting money down on it.

That dent on the left rear door makes it a one of a kind. It's bound to skyrocket in value. I'm gonna buy it....once the profits from my new snowblower dealership in the Virgin islands start rolling in, the temporary loss of cash from buying that Accord will be more than offset. :P

The car looked a lot better in person, with the revised chrome trimmings as in the first pic. It also looks a little lower in that pic...check out the wheel well gap. I remember Lutz saying that this car could be done for around 20K if they did it. I'd buy it.

Teh, I compared the Aveo strictly to the Rio and Accent. Both of which have worse mileage figures than the Aveo. Still, I see your point about Civics and even Malibus getting the same or better mileage. But within the subcompact class, the Aveo is technically the leader.

Have you done so since I posted my last post in this thread? What I'm getting at is that I tweaked a setting in the Admin CP relative to how the forum handles cookies, after seeing something on Invision's help site. I need someone who is having problems to clear out everything so I can tell if the change worked or not.
-
Guys, Could you all do me a favor and clear out your cache/temporary internet files/cookies...everything. Then tell me how things work. I found something in the ACP related to cookie settings and modified it according to what Invision suggested.

You had Construx?? I love that thing...yes, I used the present tense. I still have it. B) I have most of the sets (but not the really cool ones with the black beams) and the huge orange carrying case. I'm never giving that thing up, I'm pssing it down to my son if I ever have one. I also have some 300 or so Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels, along with 50 or so Micro Machines - nicely detailed little cars that anyone could swallow whole if they wanted to.

Yeah, my Aaron Small comment was kinda tongue-in-cheek. He's been bailed out by the offense for a couple of those ten victories, but for a few of those he's been lights out, and he doesn't walk anybody. I like him for not getting pissed at being sent to the bullpen after Mussina came back. I see him as a serviceable middle-to-long reliever to back up Sturtze. He's the best guy they have for that position right now. Everyone else in their bullpen outside of Rivera worries me. I think you're right about Chacon. I only recall two bad outings since they got him in July, easily the best midseason pickup this year.

I have been in that era Malibu, and I happen to belive it's one of the best designed, most appealing, most underrated GM interiors of that time. Plus they were an excellent value, with the V6 models selling in the mid-teens. The thing is, every time I drive or ride in a Japanese car I'm left wanting more. Based on all the positive attention they get from the media and from the people that buy them, I expect them to be leaps and bounds over the GM vehicles I've had experience with. Yet, when I step out of one, I'm usually left saying to myself, "That's it?? What's the big deal??"

It could be any one of these: - you need a tuneup...check the condition of the plugs, wires, and cap/rotor in the distributor - you have a clogged or dirty fuel filter - your carburetor needs adjustment (especially if the weather has been colder recently) - your timing might be off
-
Eh, deal with it. :P This year for the first time since FOX has been carrying baseball, they decided not to delay the Sunday night lineup - the only night I ever watch TV for more than a half-hour at a time. Satty, I agree with your predictions for the most part, though I think the Yankees might take the ALDS, especiall now that they've beaten Colon. They have Aaron Small, how could they not?

Cinco, with the lower half of the front fascia on tres. I was pretty bummed for a while when the GP came out and wasn't exactly like the G-force.

What, no Lexus??? I'm shocked and appalled. Good showing by Caddy, of course. My personal pref might be a black on black/red STS-V B)

You guys are missing the most important question: How did it taste? Venison is great!!

I'd like to suplement Josh's comment with the fact that anyone who looks at an HHR and a PT Cruiser and thinks they look the same is doing so with severely impaired vision. The shape, stance, and body details are all very different.....even the "retro" used on the HHR is different from the "retro" used by the PT. Chrysler used generic 1930s paddy-wagon styling cues for the PT, while the HHR sraws heavily from a specific vehicle...it's more like a miniature, FWD, 4cyl 1949 Suburban. Whether or not someone wants to ding the HHR because they see it as a copy of something else, you can't argue with the sales numbers. It is resonating well with comsumers.

Nice review, tama. Fair, balanced, and very-well written. If you could churn out quality pieces like this regularly, you could have a future in automotive journalism.

Trucks need to ride like cars cars need to have more utility...like trucks Fake wood is a sign of cheapness...even in a $10,000 car The overuse of the word "premium". Like anyone's going to say they're going to build an "average" or "OK" car.
-
Yeah, you could do that. If you want to be able to accept credit card payments, you can go to a premium account, but Paypal takes a cut from every credit card payment.
