  7. A Nissan car with a V8 just seems weird to me. I think a G40 or G45 makes more sense. For the Z car, I would have thought they'd do a (twin?) turbo'd V6 first.
  8. A 4cyl G6 coupe will not kill Pontiac any more than the Torrent and SV6 are killing it now. Nor would it kill it any more than that Cobalt-posing-as-a-Pontiac Pursuit would if it were to come to the US. Pontiac is in the unfortunate position of needing sales any way it can get them in order to justify its existence. As much as I don't like the Torrent/SV6, they're serving a purpose for Pontiac right now. They won't be needed when the B-P-G consolidation is complete. Thinking along these lines there's an excellent business case for a 4cyl G6 coupe: It would take minimal investment on GM's part, and its pricing would surely help it swipe more than a few Accord/Solara buyers. The G6 GT coupe as it is competes well with the Accord 4cyl coupe. A 4cyl G6 coupe would surely undercut it by no less than a couple of thousand.
  9. o'blu, you sound like my grandmother. She always told me never to leave milk out of the fridge, or else it'll spurl. I'd be pissed, no doubt. I'm not materialistic, but I put a lot of effot into keeping my cars looking pristine. As long as water can flow through a garden hose and there's no precipitation, I'm out there washing it every weekend, even if it means numb fingers in the middle of January. I usually park in the last row of parking spots so some idiot doesn't ding me. If someone drops it off a lift, I know from experience that even if it's fixed with no cost to me, it's never the same as before the incident. That would bother me for the rest of the time I owned the car.
  10. They're already using a 4.0L V6 in the mid-sized trucks. which makes 265hp as is. Getting 400hp out of a car version og that engine should be child's play for them.

Yeah, but your point is moot if the 2800lb car loses the race due to a blown head gasket. *swish* Just for the sake of argument, the Malibu with the 2.2L weighs 140lb less than the Malibu with the 3.5L. It's not too farfetched to think a G6 4cyl would undergo a similar wight reduction. I tried to find concrete info, but there's no weight info published on the base G6 sedan.

  14. I have driven a 2.2L Malibu, and performance was adequate for it. Not outstanding, but power was there when I needed it. I don't think a higher horsepower 4cyl, especially one mated to a stick, would be that much of a problem in the G6. BV, as you've experienced firsthand, the engine combinations GM offered in the 90s may have had more power, but they were certainly less reliable and durable. I'd bet the farm on my Ecotec, or even my father's 2.4L Twin Cam (a revised, ableit detuned Quad 4).

  16. Well, I guess that'll free up one of my presets <_< I had wanted the MP3 CD capability in the Cobalt, but they had such a hard time finding one with the options I wanted that I had to give that up.
  17. I'm done, except for my father, and he'll be done on Monday. This is my third year in a row getting 100% of my gifts via the Internet, only this year I started in September.
  18. I got XM with the Cobalt. I love it..I can't tell you how many new bands I've discovered via XM. That alone is worth the price, never mind the variety and the lack of commercials. I let me free trial run out in Oct. because I shelled out a ton of money for Christmas presents this year and needed to recover. Last week, however, I got a coupon for 50% off of one year, and the activation fee waived. I'll be reupping on Dec. 1.

  21. The thing about the Solstice is, regardless of how well it stacks up against the MX-5, it's a game changer for Pontiac. When was the last time Pontiac got this much positive attention? Last time I visited a Pontiac dealership, there was a gorgeous blue Solstice in the center of the showroom, and there were at least three transactions taking place while I tried on the Solstice (it fit perfectly :D). One family was buying an Aztek, another couple was with a salesman checking out a G6 coupe, another doing papererwork with another salesman at his desk. The previous time I visited that dealership, you could hear a pin drop. Will the Civic have that much of an effect on Honda dealerships? I think not.
