I'm with NOS. I think I'd rather see who wins the Mongomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.

I predict tha I'm not going to care, and that I'm not gong to waste my time watching.

OK guys, a couple of things: 1) The new site required me to make a change in the way the board handles cookies. Those that are having problems with the menus hiding themselves, delete your cookies/temporary internet files. Then close your browser, and open up a new one to go back to C&G. Log in and hopefully everything works. NOTE: they won't stay open in the forums as currently configured. Only on the home page. I can change that behavior, though. 2) I added the 'View New Posts" option at the top of the page. Some of the formatting looks diffeent in the forums because the forums run inside the new portal. It's a price to pay for having the menus available everywhere. I can turn it off though easily and make the foums look the way they used to, but you'd lose that ability. Thanks for the feedback, guys. This new portal is infinitely configurable, and I sure wasn't going to get everything right at 2:30AM

Over the years, Cheers and Gears has strived to be come the best place for GM Enthusiasts to gather on the 'net. While news is a huge part of this, it isn't everything. C&G boasts one of the most tightly-knit communities on the web. You've all stuck with us through the good times and the bad. As a show of gratitude, we gladly take the wraps off of a redesigned Cheers and Gears aimed at making your experience here as enjoyable and as fun as possible. The first thing you notice is the spiffy new front page. While the layout is similar to the last one, a lot more information is available right at the tip of your mouse pointer. From the front page you can now login to the site, check your PMs, see who's online, and check the calendar for upcoming events. Is this information too much for you? No problem...just click the arrows towards the top of the page to hide the left and right columns. Both columns can be accessed at any time throughout the forums by clicking these same arrows. A brief rundown of some of the new features here on C&G: Chat C&G now has an IRC chat room fully integrated into the site. It requires Sun's Java Runtime Environment, freely downloadable at http://www.java.com. Once you have the JRE installed, just click on the chat link to enter the C&G channel on the IRC server. All that's needed next is for you to identify yourself. Type "/nick <your-username>" in the command box, and begin chatting with your fellow C&G'ers. Shoutbox Holler at your C&G buddies with the new Shoutbox. Just click on the link, type a short message, and send it. It's simple, yet unexplainably addictive. C&G Drives A new section of C&G, dedicated to well-balanced automobile reviews written by our members. Critiques of all makes and models are welcome. For starters, see my review of the 2005 Nissan Xterra. Member Marketplace Looking to buy, sell, or trade something? Do you have an ATV or 11 year old Grand Am sitting in your driveway just begging for a new owner. Tell us about it and watch it move. So that's about it. Take the new C&G for a test drive and let us know what you think.

Woohoo!!! (as in, I have post #2006)

Yes, the channel numbers aren't sequential. Obviously they have plans for those genres where they skip station numbers. The way I understand it, XM is better for music, and Sirius is better for talk.
-
The only people that are going to be pissed are those who love the body hardware. Those people will be more than offset by the hordes of people who now find the Avalanche attractive.
-
They have one station for each decade, 40s-90s. A lot of those songs also spill over into the classic rock stations and pop stations, both of which are plentiful on XM. There's a U-POP station that supposedly has European techno, but I haven't listened to it. XM + Napster In any case, it's probably better for resale if you have the XM hardware already in the car. That's what you're paying for...the nub on the roof, and the box inside the dash that allows the factory radio to receive XM.

Ummm....uh....Cobalt!

Happy birthday fellas. Have a good one

f you're at all into music, you'll be singing a different tune after the three month trial is up. Trust me. This is coming from a fellow cheapskate currently wearing an outfit that cost no more than $50, shoes included.

I know that well. With the truck I skidded sideways around a turn that had a looooong patch of black ice just as the road turned straight again. It fishtailed for a bit while I tried to get it straight again. I had to do something soon because a sharp curve was coming up and I wouldn't have made it through without flipping it, and there was a car approaching on the other side. I saw a wide dirt parking lot off the shoulder on the othe side of the road. Knowing how the truck would respond, I hit the brake. It spun around, across the road, and into the dirt parking lot. No damage done except for a few missed heartbeats. As soon as I got out of the truck to make sure everything was OK, I saw a Neon hit the same turn, go up the bank, and rip its bumper off and blow one of its tires. She pulled it into the parking lot, and I helped her change the tire.

WTF were you thinking when you put up those bright blue shutters I recognize them all, except for the Corsica and that orange/brown sedan behind the Datsun. And the Caddy is XP's, right?
-
Not really. I wrote this article because I felt strongly that the current Monaro-based model got a royal screwjob by everyone I mentioned. That hasn't changed with today's good news. I gotta admit, ever since I wrote this article, I've really, really badly wanted a GTO. If I could afford a garage and an extra monthly payment, I'd take a drive to Camino's house with cash in hand.

Happy Birthday TurboRush!

Aw, she's cute (the Cobalt, not the girl with the braces)

It's all right. You can see in the front end and the greenhouse that it's a sibling of the Santa Fe. The current car was rather nice looking until they gave it a nose job in 2004. I remember the big celebration Nissan gave itself for selling 1M vehicle a year or two ago. How many more years have they been in business than Hyundai. Any way you look at it, that's impressive.

I don't know what you're talking about. *whistles to self*

Detroit News: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe Review

This is a regular column they do. Husband and wife auto journalists...I can only imagine how much fun they are at parties. : -
This is something I've been saying for a long time abot Honda. They've lost their focus, and it shows in their product mix, their marketing, and their salespeople. Half the company wants to appeal to the tuners, and half wants to appeal to grown-ups. Hell, that dichotomy exists entirely within the S2000. It's priced such that older people with disposable income can afford it, yet it has an engine that - in the real world - is only relevant when tuners get into HP/liter discussions.
