  1. Vipes, bikes aren't too difficult to fix. If you can fix your ATV, the bike should be a piece of cake. It's really all just turning wrenches. Assuming the chain is good and on both a front and a rear sprocket, you might have a spinning cassette (the thing with the sprockets on it) in the back. Pick the rear tire off the ground and turn the pedals, or flip the bike over on the grass. Watch what happens with the rear sprockets. See if the chain spins them but not the wheel. Once you find it, take the rear tire off, take the sprockets off, and you should find what's wrong. I can't imaginge a mountain biike that has one of these, but do you have a coaster brake? Those are the ones were you pedal backwards to stop the wheel from turning.
  2. Hmm....this morning, I'd say I did 1/4 mile in about two minutes flat. My average speed this morning was around 10.5mph. Given my still less-than-ideal conditioning and the mountain bike gearing, I'll take it. It's a 10yr old bike that I got as a senior in high school. I think I paid $90 for it. It has none of the fancy stuff that mountain bikes have on them these days. I've added a gelpadded, vented seat, 26x1.95 tires, and pedals with the cages for my feet. On the way is a shock-absorbing seat post and a handlebar mount for my PDA/GPS. After that, I'll just need a set of wheels, tires, and rear gears from a road bike, so I can use this frame for both trails and longer street rides.
  3. And for those that want something "professional grade"
  4. EPA estimated fuel economy: Infinity Zero emissions compliant With it going up to 65 today, I figured it'd be a good day to ride into work. It's about 7 miles each way from my front door to my workplace. I'm not the least bit tired, and it'll only get easier when I mount a set of road bike wheels, tires, and rear sprockets onto it. Best part is, I saved 1/16 of a tank and pushed back filling up the Cobalt till tomorrow. Want to do something about your gas bills? Use a bike for your short-distance errands (at least those that don't involve perishable foods).
  5. To the guy who owns a Cobalt, and the guy who might buy one. Happy Birthday!!!
  6. I guess I'm the late bloomer here. 17 years old, on my father's 1990 Lumina.
  7. I am so sorry, Cory. Dogs give us a level of companionship that people have a hard time replciating. Take solace in the fact that, for ten years, he had in you a companion who loved him dearly. He is in a better place now, free of pain and suffering. I know you're upset now, so it may be hard to see reality. Vet visits are expensive, usually ridiculously so. I know this from experience. Most visits end up costing me $300, and this is for routine maintenance...shots, teeth cleaning, etc. Walking in the door is a $60 minimum. If a dog needs an operation it's not out of the realm of possibility to have it cost four figures. Dog medication isn't cheap either. So your parents may not have been off base in telling you that they couldn't afford to fix Lucky. And even if they did bring him to the vet, his quality of life had no guarantees of getting better.
  8. Meh, it's alright. It would look much better in my driveway, though :AH-HA_wink:
  9. Wow. This really is terrible. I'm glad you are OK, though.

    Hey 68

Just watch out for that big puddle along the California/Hawaii border.

  13. I don't think that picture is enough to determine the extent of the "toning down" of the design. As far as I can tell, the side sculpting (which made the Aura concept so fantastic) is pretty close, if a little skewerd by the lighting in the photo. The beltline/greenhouse look to be the same. The wheel flares look the same, if 1/2" smaller. The wheel well gap looks the same (though the wheel size is smaller). The rocker panel sculpting is hidden by the shadows.

  15. Steal the headlights, grille, and wheels off the silver Q and call it a day. Seriously, though, if you're only going to keep this new car for three years or so, you may want to think in terms of which car will fetch you more when it's time to trade in. Cobalts seem to be holding their value rather well. I've seen 2005s at used car lots with stickers of $1000 off MSRP from when they were new. My estimation is that both the older Q and the newer Cobalt will be worth about the same money in 2009. Another piece of advice...drive the Cobalt before you make the decision, and take Marcia along. You'll be surprised at how tight it feels when you drive it. Fling it around a few twisties and smile as it keeps its composure. I do every morning.
  16. "A fool to Lie" is pretty good. I noticed their album title is "My Fist Your Face". Is there a song of the same name on that album. I'm interested in hearing it, because there's an Aerosmith song with that name on the "Done With Mirrors" album that's pretty good.

I fixed it this afternoon with BV thorough PMs.
  18. The GM Accessories rubber mats for the Cobalt are really well made. They're a really thick rubber with little circles on them that catch the dirt/dead grass/etc that gets on your shoes. And they're form-fitted to the Cobalt footwells. Is your rug grey or black? The GM mats probably won't look so great on a grey rug since they only come in black. Get the OEM replacement carpet mats if they're under warranty, then store them somewhere and, as Fly said, pick up a cheap set of mats from the car care store of your choosing. Then, when it comes time to part with the car, throw the cheapies out and put back with the GM ones that you got replaced under waranty.

Can you PM me a screenshot of what's on your screen when you visit the C&G home page? I'll try to work with you on this off the boards.

    Get In Chat

Dang, he found out. Better take the site down for a while and hope he goes away Seriously, though, we'd love to have you in chat. Are you doing either one of these things: 1) Go to the C&G Home Page and click either the "Chat" link on the left navigation bar, or the "Join the Chatroom" link on the right hand side. 2)While in the forums, click one of the >> or << arrows at the top of the page to show the menus and links I mentioned in step 1. The only download our chat room needs is the free Java Virtual Machine
  22. As of right now, the more realistic day for me to go is probably the 22nd. Things could change, though.
  23. The idiot in the pic has a TOYOTA key on the keyholder.
  24. I don't see why not. That's really terrible though. I used the carpet mats that came with the car for about six months, then got the all weather rubber mats from GM Accessories. They'll wear a lot better and are much easier to clean...just take them out of the car and shoot them with the hose. I still have the carpet ones (which only show very minor wear).
