I'm still in shock over Paris getting a record deal before Gilbert Gottfried.

The Regal and Cherokee are dead to me, but...

I think that equates to two rubber bands, a rusty paper clip, and a chewing gum wrapper Seriously, J Bodies will last a very long time with a mnimum level of maintenance. I've had experience with both the old 2.2L and the 2.4L twin cam that came with those cars, and they're pretty close to bulletproof. My dad's Skylark with the 2.4L has 160K miles on it and just now needs its first tuneup. My sister's old Cavvy with the 2.2L lasted for well over 200K miles, and didn't leak or burn anything when she sold it. BTW, that front fascia is my favorite out of all the ones they've used on the Sunfire. -
I bicycle, at least twice a week. This Saturday I'll be riding 40 miles. I also have a gym membership where I do my weight training, but I've only been able to get here once a week or so due to time/energy constraints.

I have a long term owner's report coming, but here's the gist of it. 2005 Cobalt LS - fully loaded except for OnStar 2.2L Ecotec with 4spd auto I've got about 10,500 miles on my car in 1.25 years of ownership. It is a fantastic car for what I paid for it. The ride is cushy enough so that long trips with it are pretty comfortable, yet firm enough that you don't mind flinging it around a hairpin at 50+ mph. Cargo carrying capability is pretty phenomenal, especially with the rear seat folded down. I regular put a .bike in there, and this morning I brought a 48" long package to the post office The 2.2L Cobalt doesn't get enough credit. It's a ballsy motor that gets great mileage to boot. Unless you need to have the SS, or want to race it, the base car is more than sufficient. Bring it up around 5K and it'll pin you to the seat a bit. I've driven it from LI to Cortalnd, NY and back (~700mi round trip) and averaged 35.6mpg. It's a known fact that manual Cobalts with the 2.2L get over 40mpg hwy easy. I'll admit that I've been to the dealership more than I would have liked, but several of the visits aren't Chevy's fault, but rather the outsourced wastes-of-oxygen who installed my remote starter and alarm. Never again will I have an unknown entity splice into my electrical system. As for legitimate repairs on the car, I've had to deal with the following: - Leather pulling up around the door pull cups. There's a TSB on this which does fix the problem - sunroof switch bezel fell out when hitting a bad bump. I fixed it myself with the help of the good people at cobaltss.net. That thing's never coming down again, and I didn't cheat and glue it up there. - a circular mark appeared on my leather headrest where my head..well...rests. I will attribute that to my body chemistry, since a similar mark appeared on the cloth seat in my truck. Anyway, I got a brand new headrest and have since sewn up some headrest covers out of black beach towels. - There was a slight squeak/creek somewhere in the interior. With the radio on at even a low volume, it was drowned out, but I knew it was there so it annoyed me. The dealer couldn't find it (naturally). I think I may have hit it yesterday when I washed the car and lubed up the seal around the sunroof glass. It's been quiet ever since.

I'm in doing a complete 180 with my life...

Sly, be very, very careful. Legal repercussions from you seeing Beth should be the least of your worries. It will scar Sofia for life for life if she gets wind of it, not to mention permanently ruin your chances of ever fixing what you have with Marcia. Remember this - women and girls take infidelity very hard (We do too, but nearly as hard as they do). You owe it to yourself and to the two women you are responsible for to do what you can to fix you family. You may or may not already know why the two of you are at odds, but find out the whole story and see what YOU can do to make everything better, regardless of who's at fault. I'm not much of a believer in therapy - my belief is that you can skip that by becoming proactive in finding the causes of Marcia's disdain for you and fixing them. Croc does have some good ideas - take what you will from his post. I like this one - take Marcia and Sofia on a vacation every now and then. From what you post on here, it doesn't sound like you get around to doing that very often. -
I had my Corvette in a Public Storage place for just under a month. I had a 10x20 space - enclosed but not climate controlled, for $263 a month. If you stay more than 3 months the rate was 5% less than that. I got a pretty decent introductory rate for the first month, and ended up paying forty-something for the time I was there. If you do go with one of these outfits, buy the big tubs of Damp-Rid for $10 a pop. Overall, I don't think it's worth it at all. Considering that there seems to be very little in the way of continual expenses on the aprt of the owners I don't see why they need to charge that much. You'd be better off finding a neighbor or someone with a garage that they don't use or that's full of crap that they're itching to get rid of, and throw them a few bucks a month.

Knowing reg and Croc the way I do, it probably has something to do with this:

Unless the chrome stuff is from GM, I wouldn't touch it. It'll either turn yellow, rust, or pit - depending on what it's made of. As for the wheels, I'd say wait till you do need tires, then go for a 16" wheel/tire combo. If you still want to go for 15s, I can see four of these working on a Colorado.

MKPortal is basically just a wrapper for the site and provides us with the front page, among other things. The boards themselves are still Invision. We have a perpetual license with Invision, meaning Walt pays an annual fee and he's entitled to whatever upgrades are available during that year. I am looking into upgrading C&G to the latest IPB version, but I have to figure out how that's going to affect MKPortal, and vice versa.

3LT I think you guys can figure out my answer, though as Camino said I think both can be "top" performers in their own way.

Hey, welcome back. You're exactly the guy I want to show this thread to

Sent an email through Chevy's website this morning. Knowing them, I'll get a response telling me everything I need to know about the 2006 Corvette.

Well, I was thinking of putting in hydraulics, tiger-stripe upholstery, and a "La Cucaracha" horn, but on the other hand, not over my dead body. I do have the trim tag in the driver's side door jamb. The codes show it as having a Silverstone Silver exterior with a gunmetal (dark grey) interior. I'll keep that combo since that aspect of the car is documented. Based on the parts that are in it or came with it, it's definitely a 4spd, 427 car without AC or power windows. If I can't recreate the buld sheet info, I may end up taking a few liberties as to how I option the car up, but still make it look like it came that way from the factory. For example, I'd love to throw a set of red-line tires on it, and I probably should get the heavy-duty braking equipment and power steering...things like that. Camino, the only thing holding that tank together was the generous coat of undercoating on the outside. I could bitch-slap it and put a hole in it. There also was rotted metal flakes inside of it...lots of them. If it was a replacement, may I never end up buying anything from that company ever. I'm thinking the previous owner just sprayed it to make it look nice

That's yet another reason why a GMC minivan makes sense. The marketing campaign for it practically writes itself. Imagine a commercial showing a minivan performing all these outlandish tasks and standing up well to abuse that workers commonly dish out to their trucks, then a voiceover saying something like "If a minivan can survive all of this, it'll have no problem surviving your family". Also, with a GMC minivan, GM gets a clean-slate attempt at selling a minivan. By now the public at large believes that Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, and Saturn can't provide a good minivan. GMC has no such stigma.
-
I can appreciate the fact that the bodywork in the rear was apparently done very well (the seams for the rear door aren't noticable), but the rest....wow.
-
I think this question may have been asked before, and I probably know the answer deep down, but that's not going to stop me from asking anyway. I lowered the gas tank on the Corvette this weeked, and threw it away because it was rotted beyond repair. To my dismay there was no build sheet shoved between the tank and the body. It's not tucked under the seats or any of the other interior panels (which are out of the car). Is there any way at all to retrieve the option code information given the VIN of the car? My goal is to bring the car as close to original as possible, no matter what the effort, but if I can't do that I'll option it up the way I want to. I'll gladly provide the VIN via PM. Thanks in advance

I've always though the idea of a GMC minivan would be rather interesting. GMC's more expressive design language might make for a minivan that the average man (and a rap star or two) actually wouldn't mind being seen in. I agree with Camino in that GMC is the best place for it in the B-P-G channel. It allows Buick and Pontiac to remain tightly focused on their missions (something they'll need to be able to do in order to survive), while it exploits the loyalty that GMC buyers have to the nameplate. Also, what this does is give GMC some additional sales volume that further ensure that it won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Nope, no auto open/close at all. If I let the switch go when the roof is halfway open, it stops moving. The funnny/stupid thing is, the HHR's sunroof (same platform) has a different switch that does auto open/close. If I get annoyed/bold enough, I may try to make that switch work in the Cobalt.
-
Have one in the Cobalt. I love it, except for the switch, which doesn't have the express open/close feature. No leaks at all after 10K miles, and I clean out the sunroof tracks/drains and lube up the seals with some silicone every so often.

I voted NB/Default, but I probably should give a more detailed beakdown: Nickelback: Their stuff that doesn't make it to Top40 radio is a lot better than the stuff that does. The Squizz channel on XM plays a lot of their older stuff. Default I don't know too much about them to make an informed opinion, except for that song "Wasting My Time", which I can listen to without wanting to blow my head off now that it's run its course. Jewel The folk-ish stuff that she did early on was some of the most unique stuff done by a mainstream female artist. The new stuff I can do without. Pink I hate manufactured anti-pop as much as I do manufactured pop. But I do remember her doing a nice cover of "Janie's Got a Gun" at the Aerosmith MTV Icon show a few years back. Good talent, it seems, but too willing to let others chart her career path.
-
Okay then, how about a pic of an F150 humping a pink minivan? In case you can't tell I'm just messing with you -

I think you should lose them all and put this in your sig instead:

I plan to spend some quality time with my Corvette, installing new polygraphite body mounts, stainless steel brake lines, and stainless steel gas lines. I'll probably get a bike ride or two in, and finish building up my budget racing bike if I don't get to it during this week. In between all that, I'll find time for applying a good coat of pure carnauba for the Cobalt.
