  1. So the truck that was supposed to sell at 200k a year only his 137k eh?
  2. Malibu sales for Dec. 17000 and change Camry sales for Dec. 25000 and change While still a decent gap between em, I'm still rooting for the day the Maliby matches are surpases the Camry. GM needs to push a little more marketing for the Malibu out there.
  3. A "few" red districts in a Congressional map doesn't equat to the largly left population of the state. Just look at the Governor.
  4. Saved? No, UAW "saved" to continue to dwindle GM to nothing. It's a shame it went through.
  5. Ya gotta remember, Washington state (Seattle mainly) is one of the, if the THE, most far left liberal state in this country. This really isn't much of a suprise.
  6. Never new about this.... The UAW is a dragging anchor for the big 3 and needs to be cut loose. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,472304,00.html
  7. While I like the tight body gaps, I can think of 4 different reasons why composite panels would've been a benefit to our Aura. When we bought the car, if you look closely at the top there's some indents where someone leaned on the roof or something, then my dumbass backed it into the Alero putting a small crease in the rear fender lip. The scuff was only in the clear and was able to be buffed out, but no way to get the dent out. We also had gotten a door ding in the other rear fender lip. The just recently I had a pair of waterski's fall down off the shelf, cracking the reat tail light, then fell against the ladder which fell onto the rear sail panel putting two dents in it while scuffing the clear coat. The clear could be rubbed out, but will cost me a couple hundred to get the dents out. Just last year a had a Fiero that I bought just to use as a daily driver. had it during summer, in which I never noticed any creaking, but maybe after 20 years it's all creaked out?
  8. Pontiac deffinatly lost it's way. Will be VERY greatful to see the G5, G3 and Torrent DIE! Yes keep the G8 (drove one and love it). We know the Solstice will not be back after this generation. The Vibe in general is a good concept as a vehicle, just can't stand the fact that they used the Matrix for it. Would never buy one for that one reason. My first car was a 89 Bonneville SSE, fully loaded. Next was a white '92 Grand Prix GTP 5-speed. after that had a '90 Bonneville SE that I used to rack the miles on while driving to school (this was all between '93 and '97 for the SSE and GTP, had the SE until just over a year ago). Didn't continue with Pontiac's because I moved onto a truck. When the wife was ready for a new vehicle we originally was going to get a G6 GT, but waited an extra year and bought a Saturn Aura XR this past April becuase it looks better inside and out. I'd be all for a G8 for our "next car", but that's a few years away and I'm sure something will change by then.
  9. Great, so the union stays and the Gov't get's a share of the company. This sucks. Was really pulling for a organized bankruptcy.
  10. Another good one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxb_91x3is4&NR=1
  11. No suprise it takes a non US car publication/tv show to blatently throw out the truth about nickel battery production pollution and the truth in "motor efficiency" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXPCckjTMVg
  12. They already pulled out Formula One
  13. Huh, ironically enough I'm driving a 8 year old Olds with just over a quarter million miles on the odometer.
  14. Thanks for the reminder... caught it tonight. Was a decent show.
  15. Their existing marketing sucks. That's the first division that needs overhauled.
  16. They threw themslevs to the wolves the day they stepped onto the planes to head to DC. Not that they had many other directions to go. But there should've been a huge shackup within house and plans of CHapt 11.... then if people and Gov't got worried they could've stepped in, gave em money and been way better off in the eyes of the media and common man.
  17. more people will hate detroit if they get the $$. Personally I'd rather see then do Chapt 11, restructer, ditch the UAW and come out lean and mean.
  18. Haven't seen em but these are the type of ads GM should've been doing a long time ago, but in good taste.
  19. As much as I would hate to see the brands die, I understand it's gotta happen. As far as marketing, Lutz is absolutly right. I was just thinking about this on the way home the other day from work. I have yet to see a TV add on a Traverse (was passing a truckload of em, that's what made me think of it). And after the startup of the Malibu, I have not seen any commercials or internet ad's for it in quit some time. GM's marketing needs a major shakeup. They NEED to start putting up some ads called "GM misconceptions" and start stating some random facts (how many US plants, employees, % of NA compnants making up their cars vs the imports, the fact that we ship cars to China and none of em come here, etc.). I was flabbergasted by the total lack of knowledge the Senate, House and media have of GM and their products. And after listening to Fox talk radio for awhile, the callers are absolutly cluless about GM product and even one of the talk hosts thought the Malibu was a Hummer!!!
  20. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/ar...1&Symbol=GM Plants effected... http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/ticker/ar...3&Symbol=GM
  21. Well so far retail sales are up roughly 2% this year. People are complaining but still spending. It hasn't effected us.... yet. Lower gas prices have put more money in my pocket too.

    Now what?

Now I hear Gettlefinger is claiming he (UAW) was setup by the automakers!

    Now what?

I would've been one of em. The workers wages alone are not what is killing GM... lack of productivity and the lazy workers, both created by the UAW, are the largest blow. I will note that many GM workers are NOT lazy, but can't be productive because it would make the lazy workers "look bad". To have to wait 30 min. for a maintanance guy to pull a stuck part out of a press that the worker could've done in a few seconds is F'in rediculous... That alone is why the UAW needs to go.
