  1. Why is it GM's role? Shouldn't that be the role of the Gov't??? GM didn't put us in a war. Now after saying that, I must add, have you completely missed the fact that GM offers multiple vehicles that run on E85? Industry leading SUV fuel milage? Multiple cars that get 30mpg or better? Most of those are cheaper and getting practically the same mpg as the Accord Hybrid. I also beg to differ in regards to small cars. I would much rather drive a G6 than a Civic. Your statement sounds like an opinion to me. And why spend an extra $5k for a hybrid that get's 35mpg when you can buy a GM car that get's 34mpg? How long have the Silverado hybrids been out now. Honda and Toyota don't have them beat by much when it comes to hybrids.
  2. The Corvette will be "Stingray" with a 600hp LS9. It will have a aero package. The lack of aero package on the current Z06 is what has limited it to it's 198mph top speed. The Stingray and the LS7 "SS" pickup (with 427 badges) are both a go.
  3. My source pretty much had this to say, he hasn't heard anything about a Chevelle or Monte Carlo, and the GTOs are only in scale form at this point. There certanly could be some concept work being done that he hasn't seen yet, possably in Cali. The rest of this speculation is reasonable, but has more detail than he would expect anyone not directly involved with a project to have at this point, he figures that it is educated guess work at this point.
  4. Ok, I'm wrong above. H4 will be a hummer specific platform (assuming the board gives it the go ahead) that will get streched out for the next gen H3 with no shared panels.
  5. Unless I'm remembering incorreclty the H4 will be a pickup based on Colorado
  6. H4 is getting ready for board approval

Just some info in regards to motor options from a source, I won't go any further.... "I'd guess the same motors as the utes, with a smaller base engine. The SS model that's been sitting finished for a while has 427 tags on it. A LS7 powered short bed aught to scoot right along" There was a big smiley after the last comment.
  8. I don't like the exterior design of the things but that interior looks really nice.

Too bad the headlights weren't designed more in the direction of the Tahoe's headlights.

I like it, I voted "Wow". Almost voted "Nice" but there's always something you could change, and I think it is very refined over the current version.

I don't like the goofy looking wheels
  12. I hope the final product has painted rockers and lower front facia. That is one thing I don't like about the Outlook is the black rockers and lower facia.

I know this is pretty much all said and done, but just thought I'd note that the car is 100% for sure the Malibu.
  14. Here's what my source has to say about the above info... "As far as the Camaro info, the facts sound likely from every thing I've heard but I would have to poke around a bit to find out for sure. This is early for stuff like optional engines, that would more than likely still be up in the air. For the most part, there is very little buzz coming from the studio doing it, that in itself says they've been told to keep quiet"
  15. That motor trend also says "the open top Camaro will probably make it's debut some months after the coupe goes on sale in 2006" That year has to be a typo right???
  16. I drove a white AWD TB SS a couple months ago at the local dealer. But haven't seen any on the roads. They had a black one at the same time and it was sold. The white one has since been sold and they have another black one on the lot. The only gripe I have is, while the motor does pull good, it needs to be above 3000 rpm before it does so. Not a a lot of low end torque there.
  17. MyerShift, I am from Coldwater, MI myself. Live down in Angola, IN now.
  18. Your missing the point... it still costs $15k!! Sure there are people that may not want A/C or radio, but for $15k is better have em both. If the car was $10k-$12k this post wouldn't even be here. The fact that is lacks both is not the argument, the fact that is lacks both and still costs $15k is.

    Death of the V8?

While it is true that the HP of the 6's and 4's is getting up there, there is still once feature that these high revving smaller motors can't provide... and that is torque. "GM had already cancelled the V10 because they could do the same thing with the LSx V8 in the full sized utilities and pickups. The V10 might have made headlines in the press and media but that would be about it. How much longer until a V6 can do exactly what a V8 does as technology progresses further." I'll garuntee that V10 put out more torque than the V8 even with the same HP, a V6 will be worse than the V8. The current 5.3 in the GMT 800's, while up on HP over the 5.7 of the mid '90's, doesn't have the low end torque that the 5.7 had. The 5.7 actually pulls better than the new 5.3's. While GM can boast more HP than the Nissan Titan, the Titan has 40 lbs more torque. This is the same with the new Honda Civic. Sure it boasts 197hp... however, you need to be pushing 6000 RPM's before that power starts to kick in while revving up to 8000 RPM. Basically, it's worthless down at typical opperating RPM. V8's may stick around while longer, but I agree in that I highly doubt GM will put anymore big R&D $$$ into designing a all new type of V8 motor. The LSX's will stick around until they are no longer sellers and at that point I think the V8 will be done with except for in trucks.
  20. Drove a new Avalanche LT3 today. Burgandy with black leather. Quit nice I must say! I will deffinatly up grade to one of these from my current '03 Av in a few years!! One thing I did notice though, is that the DOD seems about worthless. The only time It switched over was when I was coasting or decelerating. I set the cruise at 45mph on a flat road and it stayed in V8 mode. As soon as I was to let off it went to V4 and if I ever so lightly touched the gas it flipped back up to V8 mode. I though the V4 mode was supposed to lug it along at highway speeds?
  21. That was freaken hilarious! "she would've eaten a lot more than what we were expecting" LMAO
  22. Roger, until you've been in a Syclone you've never been in such a monster of a stoplight to stoplight vehicle! One foot on the brake, other on the gas, boost it up and let off the brake and you get slingshotted into the horizon! Other vehicles could run it down in the 1/4 but nothing on the roads will beat these out of the hole. Had 28500 miles on it when I bought it and 33000 when I sold it 4 years later. Fun to drive and had respectable handling. You can still pick up a lower mile one in nice condition in the low $k-teens. When you think of it, no domestic manufacturer has offered such a unique vehicle.
  23. Am hoping to finish it ASAP lol! Truthfully, it'll probably be 4-5 years. I hope it doesn't go over that but ya never know. This one is being built as a Pro Touring type project. Wilwood drilled and slotted 4 piston brakes at all 4 corners, Hotckis swaybar up front, reconfigured front control arm geometry, delrin/aluminum bushings. At this point I plan on a LS-X motor and possibley supercharger. That'll all depend on $$$ availability. Am just now starting body work, which it needs a lot of. Drivers side floor pan, both rear quarters and rear valance and trunk floor all need replaced. Just cut out the drivers floor last week. Would like to have the majority of the shell completed by the end of this year. Here's another pic of the front clip/brakes
  24. Thought I'd chime in on this forum... here's my current vehicles. A 2003 Z71 Avalanche. Absolutly love this thing. I pull a 22' enclosed trailer with it during winter and does great. Here's my '68 Camaro. Bought it as a roller a summer ago. It's tore down right now and already rebuilt the front clip. Remember the GMC Syclone? Had this one for 4 years, sold it 5 years ago this month to build a house.
  25. My G/F has a '00 Alero with the 2.4L. 2 door with spoiler, burgandy in color. 176,000 miles and running strong while getting a consistant 30-33 mpg. nice car!
