LA Auto Show: Cadillac ATS-V: Comments

Making it worse. as PA gets snow just as bad if not worse. LOL.. I get your point.. but considering Smky's ideology.. it shouldn't be stuck even if it were riding on tires made of banana peels- 46 replies

in theory it still is embarrasing that so many are so unknowledgeble about the vehicle they bought. I mean there were no less than 5 people out there who apparently had no clue as to ask about the adjustment. Furthermore I doubt that they tires were bald like Smky said being in that part of NYC. Most driving in what looks to be Manhattan.. a RR, no less, are usually up on the maintenance.- 46 replies

Nope.. doesn't work like that. The BS marketing and perception is that Range Rover, out the box, is the Off-Road queen. It is not. LR is selling them with street tires not snow tires. If I put snow tires on my Stingray I'm capable of this: Just stop it. Admit that your Euro brands are not the end all be all and be done with it.- 46 replies

BTW.. I see U still have no comeback for the various shoot downs of your Range Rover tackling the elements yet. EMBARRASSING. My Impala would have had no problem with this:- 46 replies

Cost is the reason. The price point has to be within the same realm as the Mseries, possibly lower, or we will have people like U cry about said price despite coming here in this very thread and saying that they should do something that would make it cost more. That being said.. the 3.6L TT is good for way more than 500HP. Cadillac didn't want to have a hi-po powered car having over heating issues, while still trying to stay within the confines of a certain price. No matter.. this car is fast, powerful, and sexy.. and anyone believing their estimated 3.9sec 0-60 time I have would like to sell U a warehouse full of fleece line Parkas to be sold exclusively in Phoenix, Arizona.- 46 replies

One Year Review of my 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ 3.6L
Cmicasa the Great replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
Let me be clear.. if given a choice, for a daily driver between the XTS and the Impala.. the Cadillac would win every time. As it is I am bound by agreement with my accounting to spend no more than $40K on a car for daily use. Altho I own the company certain things were put in place so that spending would not get out of control in certain situations. That being said.. the Impala is an awesome car.. but it is not the XTS. I mean despite every one trying to relate the two, the XTS on badge alone elicits helluva lot more respect in terms of wow factor. It is one of the reason why I often shake my head when people try to belittle it versus one of the German or sole Japanese Flagships. When comparing, specifically the V-Sport, I found that the XTS absolutely blew the LS460 and 740i away in terms of every single luxo buying aspect. I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO GET IN A COMPETITIVE JOUST WITH AN XTS_VSPORT WHILE DRIVING AN LS460. U will drive away with your RWD Japanese tail between your legs BET. -

Off-Road? Please do tell when was the last time U saw a $85K Range Rover going off road with exception to pulling up on the grassy knoll of lil Bobby's soccer game. U must be smoking some gooooooooooooood sh!t cause I get out and wipe down my $67K Yukon just for the sake of a little dust jumping up on it. Also, get back in your time machine Francis. The Stingray can handle a 599.. the Z06 will murder it. I'll give U credit for bringing in the $1,000,000+ 10 cars a year makers to help U try and plead a case. In fact... Why didn't U just bring up the Veyron and present your case as to why Chevy is inferior battling the $2.3 Million car?- 46 replies

^^^ YUP. In truth the Stingray puts down number already that are "Supercar," let alone the Z06. The only thing that the Vette, in fact, lacks at this point to be considered a SUPERCAR is the price. Cadillac could fix this, and charge the proper money for it if they wished now that it is "independent." What GM needs to do is STOP publishing their Platform names. They are quite possibly th only maker on the planet who has platforms that are as well known. This in and of itself leads to a great deal of what U are saying regarding the idiotic media and armchair critics alike. The very thought that an Escalade isn't considered to be on the level of a Range Rover.. because its based off of a Tahoe is ridiculous. Especially when one considers the fact that U can get a Tahoe at damn near the price of the Range Rover.- 46 replies

Unless Cadillac gets a V sports car like the AMG GT. Not going to happen for 2 reasons. Development costs too high for a niche product, and can't outshine the Corvette at GM. GM would never let the Corvette be inferior to a Cadillac sports car. I think U're wrong. I think that U are just hoping that Cadillac walks away from thought and never looks back. And while I don't think we will see a C7 based Cadillac, and the C7 program is supposed to be short, I think the C8 will serve the basis for.. or vice-versa, a Cadillac "C" (Cien in English means 100 in turn the Roman numeral is "C")- 46 replies

There is the CTS-V for Detroit, which is a given. Other than that there is nothing really, unless SRX and Escalade get a V treatment. XTS-V. Calling It! Call this. Escalade will finally get a HI-PO variant. Bet money on it.- 46 replies

OK.. What's with the Blue colors these days? I could see myself in another Blue car. Nice. All in all the HP was more than we thought at 455.. The 0-60 times are I'm betting a bit conservative like Chevy did with the Stingray saying it was 3.8sec when in fact its easily able to hit 3.5. Another awesome thing, and I hope its a trend that continues, is that they introduced BOTH The Sedan and Coupe simultaneously. Would be nice if when the CTS-V debuts it comes out with a regular coupe.. a Sedan V and a VCoupe. There is also supposed to be one more debut- 46 replies

Toyota News: Toyota's Fuel Cell Vehicle Has A Name and Price
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Because its a TOYOTA -
all that being said... its an awesome car. Its death was inevitable once the Zeta Platform was canceled. The mainstream simply doesn't buy RWD vehicles in droves. They must either be added to Fleet purchases and done cheaply or they will cease. Once Australian new Govt decided to allow foreign companies to take their fleet duties away from Holden and Ford's RWD cars, they killed its necessity. GM could ultimately bring the SS over to Alpha (as the CTS is almost the same size) and make it the next Impala/Caprice. I said Caprice because the formula from back in the 90s should be revisited with the Caprice being the "LS to LTZ" and the Impala being the "SS" performance model. No real difference in the car outside of the performance additions inside and out. Essentially what I'm seeing is that the FULL-SIZE vehicle is a niche product all around versus the Mid-Sizers and the CUVS. Look at the numbers. Combine the Impala, Charger, 300, Avalon, Azera, and Taurus together and then put that number side by side with an Explorer Some would see the reference to the old M5 a negatice, but only an enthusiastic driver would understand that the E39 M5 was the epitome of what earned the marque its reputation. The balance was unmatched at the time. BMWs were the best handling bar none. Cadillac now has that title with the ATS and CTS.. The SS is larger and manages to retain that feeling. Nonetheless it's dead after 16. Again hopefully, for the enthusiastic crowd Chevy makes an Alpha based successor.

Only if Australians openly protest due to the Home Name importing vehicles on their home turf. Ironically Toyota does it and is currently the #1 auto in the land of OZ. Meaning if the people of OZ do protest by not buying they will have effectively not only killed their own manufacturing by buying foreign (sound like anyone) but then killed their only homegrown brand by being hypocrites.

Cadillac Files Trademarks for CT2-CT8, XT2-XT8
Cmicasa the Great replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Cadillac
Considering the CT6 is gonna actually be the 7Series Killer.. I'm wondering if the CTS is going CT5 or CT4. Basically is Cadillac going "Audi" or "BMW" with their naming scheme, making Coupes odd and Sedans even.. or are they gonna retain their current ideology and have sedan and Coupes under the same name as they did with the CTS and CTS Coupe. -
Cadillac Files Trademarks for CT2-CT8, XT2-XT8
Cmicasa the Great replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Cadillac
I can understand that a company would want to cover the whole range and I agree with you that I hope the incoming idiot does not just follow the German Lemmings off the cliff. That would be bad for Cadillac. I don't kno what to tell U guys. GM needs Cadillac to be what Audi is to VW; a Profit center. THey also need Corvette to do the same.. which leads me to believe that they will at some point piss-off a bunch of U again. Me??? As an Auto Enthuiast I have no issue with the naming or the possibility of expanding the line-up into unknown territory. In fact.. I don't have an issue with Benz doing it as long as they are utilizing luxury level, great driving, performance dynamic platforms that can actually.. . well perform as luxury models. The CLA isn't it... and all it says to me is that they SEE that many buyers of their brand are only buying for the emblem. I've driven that car.. the CLA45 AMG. U wanna buy a fun car??? Head somewhere else. Yes it has scoot.. but it it handles like a car version of 2 left feet. And since when the hell was AWD supposed to have torque steer? If Cadillac goes to a sub-ATS model.. but uses the exemplary platform that is Alpha... I'm on board. The ATS isn't exactly a micro-car. Cadillac would be bad off selling a baseline $30K car. The ATS is 182.2 inches long with a 109.3 WB, the CTS 195.5 with a 114.6WB.. there is definitely room to go slightly smaller with the A3 being only 175.4 and 103.8. Technically since we don't kno what the D2X platform is capable of it too could be a candidate since Delta II is actually a damn great handler. I kno.. I kno... U hate it.. but its the reality of the luxo market. GM needs this. Its not enough anymore to say "let Buick have those people..." because Buick is not on the level of Cadillac or Benz.. and the customer that wants a super small luxury is not going to Buick's Verano, altho they would possibly go to Cadillac's CT2. -

If U are directing at me I wasn't saying that a turbo V6 was what luxo buyers prefer... I was saying that it what non-enthusiasts require in terms of an exclusive engine for the luxury brand. It didn't have to be a Turbo V6.. it could have just the same been a NA V8. Either way it has to be exclusive to the brand. It is quite possible that the Ultra V8 is debuting in the CT6. Who knows? And second.. Why was the ATS-V, a sport compact, being considered as a replacement for a Sport MID-SIZE, the XF SC (I am assuming the 5.0L ) when the CTS-VSport beats it handily.. looks better.. and offers as much luxury. Even more important is why not just replace the XF with a CTS-V, which will have a V8? Just askin- 34 replies

No.. The Fuel economy has nothing to do with it.. it boils down to the fact that there are plenty of idiots who no nothing about cars, but insist that a "truck" engine has no place in a luxury car despite that "truck" engine being more refined than many of the engines coming from their beloved Benz, BMW or Audi- 34 replies

I hear U.. but when the Stingray "leaked" from GM they were touting 450 as well.. then suddenly it showed up with 460. The Z06??? Originally was 620 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque http://blog.caranddriver.com/2015-chevy-corvette-z06-output-figures-leaked-620-hp-650-lb-ft/. That changed to 30 more ponies. I'm not saying they weren't given certain info.. I'm just saying GM may have held some cards closer to the chest so as to amaze more come LA.- 34 replies

No offense but U do not kno what the upgraded engine will put out so that dyno chart is irrelevant. Even at the (I believe conservative guess)450 HP R&T is reporting we don't kno where in the power band that comes in, nor what GM was able to do in terms of FE. I have heard that the tuning for the engine was at 460 and not the 450. Also the LF3 is well known to be able to be ECU tuned to a quick 500HP with no bolt ons.- 34 replies

Might have something to do with packaging since the Vette's tranny is mounted in the rear and set up for the shifter rods to go thru the tunnel. Just Speculating tho.- 34 replies
