  1. dfelt.. at first I had the Elmiraj in the poll, but felt as tho it would be unfair to have two Cadillac's vs the others. As it stands the poll is split.. but think that the people do still need to recognize that two are CONCEPTS, and changes will occur.. and the other is production ready
  2. I voted CT6, as I simply think that after seeing it in the flesh.. it is absolutely stunning. I will add that the fact that I kno it is on the way does help in my decision process. I have stated before that this car is an S-Class competitor no matter what Cadillac has stated. The 7series is an S-Class competitor and this car simply blows it away in sheer "boldness." It is dauntless. The GM Concepts are all gorgeous, and I would rank them easily Elmiraj, Avenir, and then Continental. The Continental, tho wins last place by default.. as I don't think of it as anything really special as it is so derivative of other makes that I feel as tho I've seen it before. That is not a dig at the car, simply a fact. I will add that having been in, driven, and flirting with the idea of buying a Bentley (not the Flying Spur tho).. I was ultimately turned off by the fact that the Lincoln shares an "air" about its design that is reminiscent of the Bentley FS, which I found boring after not more than an hour with the car. The Elmiraj vs the Avenir. What can I say.. one is a Cadillac, and the other a Buick. Despite what others have said about Cadillac not being on par with, say.. Benz.. I JUST DON'T SEE IT that way. Maybe its because of my connection to the past, but I seriously see Cadillac as the real, legitimate competitor to Mercedes Benz. More so than BMW or Audi. Its the heritage.. and the Elmiraj has that in spades. The Avenir, to me.. looks like a four door Elmiraj, with Buick styling cues and an homage to the bustle-back British Leylands of the past. It, in to me, suggests the possibility of a return of Lasalle as a sister brand of Cadillac using Buick instead.
  3. Stole this idea from GMI, but I pose this question adding the Lincoln. Keep in mind that the CT6 is a production ready car where as the other two are concepts. Lastly.. does the Elmiraj kill them all in terms of "WOW" effect, and desirability to see go into production?
  4. For once I agree with U. Not about the engine directly, but I will agree that GM, maybe, should have never implemented a Volt or ELR to begin with. I think they would have been better off integrating this technology into existing vehicles instead of going the "prius route." I thru the maybe in there because perhaps market research showed them that the tech deserved it's own vehicle. The thing is that this technology should have, at the very least, been pushed into other vehicles, as they are now doing (see Malibu and CT6) so as the perceived investment return would have been sopped up quicker.. thus enabling them to offer the technology at a cheaper price overall. There simply is no reason why, after 5 years on the market, that Voltec should not be in Malibu, Cruze, Equinox, Verano, CTS, SRX or even Lambdas. In fact.. the SRX was debuted as a Voltech powered Provoq
  5. Well it has given the ELR more press/advertising than it has gotten since the Poolside ad debuted back in Feb 2014. What is it with GM? Its not that their ads are bad.. its more like they simply don't run the ads outside of the initial release of the car. The ATS is a prime example. As is the CTS. I see Chevy's ad all the time, and Buick as well. They are inclusive ads that literally show off the entire, or large part of the line-up and then put spotlight on one car at the end. Why can't that be done with Caddy? Especially now. Each one of their new vehicles has won some sort of accolade that they could tag at the end. Picture this: Chevy style advertisement (like one with all the cars lined-up on the mountain top), but in a night-time set.. in a SOHO style atmosphere.. and at the end.. "come sample the 2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year, Cadillac's CTS" or " this is the car that earned North America's Car of the Year Award its first time out.. start a romance with the Cadillac ATS "
  6. Thing is that it has never been confirmed that the price was the reason why buyers were not buying in droves. A company lowering the price on anything will certainly spur sales. And let's be clear.. I'm not saying that the price shouldn't have been this way all the time, but the fact remains that looking at the ELR, from a visual viewpoint, would automatically make me think I'm getting a nice performing speedy car. This update actually gives this car some ballz. It will now even be able to cross the 130 miles top speed, from I believe 107 before. Things that held the ELR back: 1) Price possibly, but 2) No Sunroof. Seriously??? In a car that looks like this.. sold to greenies with money (obviously) in California.. No Sunroof? 3) Its a sports car config. The backseat, like that in a 911 is a joke. 4) No advertising after "Poolside." None. Nada. If costs vs return is the issue.. be like most luxo manufacturers and have a all-inclusive marketing campaign that shows all teh models at once. Hell. Take page from Chevy. Their ad has everything from Cruze to Z06 in it 5) PREACH LEASE!!! $1999 at lease with $599-699 per month. Why are people looking at the PRICE anyway unless its a collector car??? The tech will continuously evolve.. buying an EV in today's market will in teh next few years be kno different than buying an iPhone or Galaxy. Every 6 months!!! Upgrade. I'm actually thinking of this for my CTS-V buy. Cause I kno 2-3 years after that I'm gonna wanna get a CT6,7, or 8
  7. Which is why I am surprised that so many thought that Cadillac would go crazy with the design of a car in this segment. Hell, based on the looks of Rolls and Bentley.. the higher U go up in price the more conservative U go in styling.
  8. and U are suggesting that they sell an Elmiraj to a group of buyers that prefer sedate styling??? Gotta tell U that I really don't see U as a person who has Cadillac's best interest at heart. The 3series is selling better than the ATS for two main reasons; its the established entry car, and it has variants out the wazzoo.
  9. . Hey. Wouldn't it just be easier if U'd call Dieter up on the phone and ask him to marry U??? I've never seen anyone so on a company's jock People actually wanted the full-size Cadillac to enter a field of status quo styling with the Elmiraj or Ciel?? Ludicrous. #1 the Elmiraj is a coupe.. and its lines are coup-ish. If anything the CT7 will be that car, and it will be appropriate considering 'radical" design is better accepted in that situation. In this sitiation we essentially got the gorgeous CTS "bolstered".. The CTS, which take already takes a great deal of styling elements from the Ciel. To my point.. the S-Class isn't exactly exciting to look at.. and neither are the other two Germans. I personally believe when viewed next to any of them, the Cadillac tends to stand out in such a way that any owner should be proud, and will feel absolutely money. As to styling... this is the segment... where the HELL.. would an Elmiraj fit in? the CT6 7Series A8 the LS460
  10. The CTS-V hasn't been tested yet.. the ATS-V was quoted as having a 0-60 in the 3.7 range.. with a 3.6L TT at 464HP and just RWD, and an est 3700lb weight. The CT6 TTV6, will be coming in at about 200-250lbs more, but an adjustable AWD system, capable in Sport mode of sending 80/20 to RWD/FWD.. just enough to give proper performance traction. And my bet is that the 400/400 number is gonna get a lift as well Its a 7series, A8, LS460, and Xj competitor.. and JDN sees the LWB S-Class as over them all... as do most of us due to price and the fact that the LWB S-Class is the leader of the field, like it or not, in the same way that the 3series is in it's. Established... even if there are other vehicles in those segments that are superior in one area or another. If the SWB S-Class was sold here, the CT6 would most likely be, then, along with the other aforementioned, a competitor to it. THAT'S THAT. As to the 122.4 inch wheelbase CT6 versus the 124.6 inch S-class, needing a longer WB is a non-necessity at the moment as they are trying to establish themselves back into a segment that it essentially created, but left after those SOBs Smith and Zarella screwed the brand 25 years ago. Either way.. whether JDN/GM.. me.. U.. any enthusiast thinks that this car is or isn't gonna be compared to the S-Class is redundant.. it will. I will absolutely love it if pre-conceived notions don't influence those comparos and the CT6 surprises and shuts up all.
  11. Yes Drew... I see that. C&D tested a 2.0L Turbo... and it came up as Curb weight: 3731 lb. Considering the CT6 is supposed to be about 70lbs lighter than the CTS.. then 3660 = DAMN!!! http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2014-cadillac-cts-20-turbo-test-review
  12. The German Big 3, in their full-size models, also weigh on average about 600lbs more than this car will. CT6 3700lbs + a possible 200lbs for 3.0L TT=3900 A8 4400lbs 740i 4350lbs S550 4700lbs LS460 4300lbs
  13. U really need to stop. This is a damn nice steering wheel to behold
  14. I agree with this. and it translates to both ends of the spectrum. It is why the C-Class and S-Class are the most mundane of all the Benzes.. The entry and the top are almost always the most subdued. Look at the 3series and 7series.. then look at both of their EClass/CLS or 5Series/6series, all a bit more expressive. Cadillac does this with the ATS and now CT6, with the CTS being the flashier of their bunch.. and onward to the Escalade. The biggest problem is the "open-mind" part of the equation, as Cadillac arguably makes the BEST mid-sizer and entry on the segments, but sales are down. I stand by my reasons, and one of those reasons has to do with if sales are down, the buying public perceives that the reason why is that its not good enough.. especially when viewed from a scope of 12K monthly 3/4series sales and 4500 monthly 5series sales. Yes.. I will bring in variants as a way of PADDING those numbers as the competition does. The CT6 must bring everything that the competition does and more to get noticed. Every DAMN ENGINE, including that 2.0L Turbo better be available. That TTV8, better be waiting in the wings. That Hybrid.. lets get a move on. Techno Tour de Force of not... a presence, and not fleet (in U.S. because exact opposite in Europe), need to be, or this car will fail This car is BOSS, but Cadilac needs to get on the "propaganda mill" and make it known, cause I haven't seen a CTS commercial since it debuted... https://youtu.be/rmBd9Og_GN4
  15. I predict that the 400HP/400lbs is gonna get a bump.. as is the 3.6L HP.. and probably the 2.0L as well. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that outside of the enthusiast community the 2.0LTurbo.. if rated even in the same number as the CTS, will be capable of nice performance in relative terms: This car is gonna most likely be about 3670lbs (about 70lbs lighter than CTS). If it has the exact same 2.0L Turbo rating of 270HP/295lbs, but now the 8speed (http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1310_2014_cadillac_cts_first_test/ )I believe we are gonna see similar acceleration numbers if not possible better. I'm also betting that the TTurbo is gonna get similar, if not better numbers than the Ausi A8 4.0L, possibly 3.8-4.0 seconds using the new AWD system, 8speed, and the 400HP/400lbs set in Sport mode (20% front 80% rear) as this car weighs a massive minimum of 400lbs less Its a 3900lb 400hp/400lbs of torque, AWD car capable of 20% front 80% rear, or 40% front, 60% rear... or 50% front, 50% rear suspension tune a the punch of a switch... magnetically manipulated ride control that is 3X faster than all iterations before, PROVEN GERMAN clobbering handling and most likely 0-60 in under 4 secs.. Yeah.. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that its trying to convey the idea that this is a SPORT/Super Lux in the vein of the Panamera, just without the bug eyes of the VW Beetle
  16. Which is the real irony.. considering the parent companies of BOTH.. are currently #1 and #2 or 3... according to who U ask.. in global sales. I won't even get into their evil origins
  17. Most consumers shop via price classes, and most have no earthly idea which wheels are driving. CLA and ATS start within $1700 of each other, and both are entry-level models from luxury brands. Strict brand partisans aside, I can't see how you think they AREN'T frequently cross-shopped. If they are, that's not exactly a compliment for the ATS. You don't want those cars to be cross-shopped. That says to me that consumers think the ATS is only on par with what is basically a tarted up, squished Jetta with a three-pointed star on the snout... And it's losing even more sales in the process (CLA is easily outselling the ATS). Sales numbers may not worry you, but this route is more troubling than the sales race with its direct competitors. It's not very prestigious, either. You may want to rethink where you're going with that. Pricing of the 3series ($32,950) and ATS ($33,215) are both within throwing distance of the $30,000 CLA. The C-Class ($38,400)was the one to move up.. and it did so to distance itself from the CLA
  18. I'm sorry, but in terms of looks versus the other makes I think some are firmly out in left field without a glove. The most unreasonable part was the portion about the C-Class's look being dynamic. The C-Class is absolutely ugly. The A4 is so close in looks to the Passat U'd never kno they were variants of the same car let alone on a different platform... And don't get me started on the ricey looking IS. or the confusing lumpiness of the Q60. In terms of looks... I personally think the ATS is the most handsome of the entry level bunch. And to beat a dead horse... the ATS and CTS, as great as they are, they are simply not offering the variants that the 3series/C-Class or 5-6Series/EClass are. It simple is ludicrous for GM to expect that they would sell in the same numbers with one variant of the CTS, and up until October '14, one variant of the ATS. A&S is a hit. Both vehicles are genuine lookers. That is not objective.. its a fact. Here is the real problem, and again, UNBELIEVABLE that GM would manufacturer as many ATS in sedan only form and expect people to simply buy. I can't buy an ATSV or CTS-V yet. I can't buy an ATS wagon.. I can't buy a CTS Wagon.. I can't buy an ATS Convertible.. I can't buy a ATS or CTS diesel.. I can't even if I wanted to.. so instead of building those models for consumption.. GM builds too many Sedans of each with no variants. That doesn't even include the fact that U cannot buy an AWD model across the board. No AWD in VSport or upcoming VSeries. Not a huge thing for me, but U would sell more vehicles in Snowbelt if they had it. Anyone not believing me.. or who can't see what I'm saying.. just LOOK: 328diesel Sedan 328diesel xDrive Sedan 3series Sedan 3series xDrive Sedan ActiveHybrid 3 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series diesel xDrive Gran Turismo 3series xDrive Gran Turismo M3 vs ATS Sedan ATS-V (Not even here yet) 4Series Coupe 4Series xDrive Coupe 4Series Gran Coupe 4Series xDrive Gran Coupe 4Series Convertible 4Series xDrive Convertible M4 vs ATS Coupe ATS-V Coupe (Not even here yet) ****************************** 5Series Sedan 5Series xDrive Sedan 535diesel Sedan 535diesel xDrive Sedan ActiveHybrid 5 5Series Gran Turismo 5Series xDrive Gran Turismo M5 vs CTS Sedan CTS-V (not even here yet) and again.. remember that in terms of the CTS, the coupe alone was 30% or sales, yet absent, and the Vseries was about 10%, again absent til summer
  19. I point you to the line item label "Trax" This.. as I pointed out last month. Trax should have been called SONIC TRX or something, after all it is basically a tall Sonic.
  20. They should regret nothing because everything in TIME, leads to ones current position. It is true in fact that had Cadillac not stumbled in the 80s I myself might not love them as much as I do now.. because it was the failings of that era that cause them to reflect and then build the magnificent cars they do now. The use of a French song is not inappropriate since Cadillac is named after the French founder of Detroit. Learn some history,,, all of it before U speak such attempts at buzz kill
  21. http://youtu.be/EGhaOV0BPmA
  22. I think he and Uwe Ellinghaus will pull this off better than any other team in the past. They also have Mark Reuss and Mary Barra clearly in the team's corner. Even Bob Lutz sung praises for their efforts recently in R&T concerning their desires to move forward with the original plans that were in place before the BK. as an optimist... and a person who thinks their cars are on the upside of being class-leading in the segments that they compete.. I'd say that they will prevail. I simply see no reason why they wouldn't. Cadillac currently reminds me of Mazda. They are quite possibly the best in class in certain segments, but do not get the sales or recognition they deserve due to preconceived prejudices that have NOTHING to do with the products themselves. In another thread concerning the ATS/CTS I think Suavilo asked me why I tried to push the patriotism factor into buying Cadillacs. I didn't answer.. because its not patriotism I'm pushing, but the casting aside of anti-American sentiment when it comes to luxury (and some mainstream products) just because they are American. The origination of that mindset comes from Cadillac (or Domestics) having issues, or faltering in the 80 and 90s with mediocre or behind the times products that DIDN'T embrace the move to "Sport/Lux" as the Germans did. There is an automatic pass given to those Europeans despite their abysmal record concerning reliability and maintenance cost TO THIS DAY. It effects the perception of Cadillac's stature.. but America's obsession with anything foreign bolsters the foreign brands. The game is rigged and we're rigging it to our own detriment.
  23. Finally Cadillac, has leadership that inspires confidence. I love it. Despite the constant berating of the detractors, Johan is seemingly pushing forth. Despite the actual desire of some for Cadillac to bow down to the Germans and except a place under them we have a foreign born leader saying "No.. We will rise back to our lofty position on TOP." It is impossible to compare ATS sales to 3series sales unless the variances of both are at least 80% the same. These type of things are only reserved for Cadillac though.. and never brands such as Audi or Jag. It is funny when U think about those two, as both are currently in a similar sales fashion as Cadillac, with one of them actually boasting double their line-up. I will, personally, put on hold any discussing sales as a given metric for this particular brand. Triumph or failing.. it doesn't matter because it is impossible to judge this brand on sales versus the two German brands at this point because of limited product and the ignorance of those who actually see the lack of presence in segments yet still attempt to compare the numbers. I await the vehicles. The CT6, the CTS-V etc. The actually named I have designs on actually purchasing. I have actual interest in being a buyer. Their outcome actually matters to me in that regard. Their sales?? I am one of those people who hates to see another CTS-V Coupe pull up next to me. I hate to see my Stingray duplicated on the other side of the road.. so I am not lathered in pride when I see a plethora or sea of whatever car I am driving in droves all around. Save that for the Camry.. or at this point the 3series buyer.. as any chance of exclusivity is gone way out the window. Yes. GM. Yes Cadillac. What I'm saying is prime. Make your vehicles desirable, but keep pricing in place setting a realistic sales goal for the allotted variances that U produce. Keep ATPs high. Trickle down technology and platforms to the lesser brands to gain profits thru mass mainstream in addition the top-end. My realization is that unlike BMW and Benz.. Cadillac has the upper-hand in not having to cater to the masses for survival, but it must make contributions like Audi does for VW. The ATS will soon share in cost sharing with the 90K per year Camaro and the CTS to boot. I would love to see a Regal on Alpha, or a "Riviera." How can luxury truly be luxury if it is not exclusive?
  24. I think that the Cadillac pricing strategy is fine actually. I think it has more to do with the product. That is not objective.. its a fact. 25. I agree on the Cadillac points. They really do need to get with marketing. I have not seen a Cadillac commercial in over a month. U cannot sell a product if no one knows about the product. They are currently, and still the reigning the MT Car of the Year, but have not advertised the hell out of it. Its crazy. I think that massive advertising budget they have is essentially shredded in a shredder and then thrown out into a dumpster behind COBO Your TRAX comment may be spot on. I've been seeing them a lot lately. This is another CLASSIC situation where GM creates a whole new name for a vehicle that should simply be a variant. It should be the Sonic XUV or something.. then we are talking Sonic sales of 5400 last month, not to mention the additional 3100 Spark sales that would have probably bought a Sonic instead. Chevy, including the Volt and Cruze, sold 27,765 small cars last month from 5 different cars.. 3 (Gammas)+2 (Deltas) are on the same damn platform and could have shared the same damn name. Sonic, Trax (Sonic X), and Spark (Sonic Mini or M) Cruze, Volt (Cruze EV)
