The largest issue with jumping with reinventing their cars Cadillac trying to compete with competitors that simply offer more variety of product. The CTS would benefit, in terms of sales, as well as customer retention, if they offered the mix that Benz offers with the EClass . I can get an Eclass sedan, coupe, wagon, convertible, AMG , diesel, or hybrid. There is no way that we or they should expect sales in Eclass or 5 Series numbers if they don't have a similar line-up. The last gen CTS at least had a wagon which accounted for 3% of sales, a Coupe, 30% of sales, and a Vseries, 9% of sales, to add to the sedan'snumbers. This is what happens when you delete more than 40% of the options, you, ironically, no, logically, lose 40% of your sales. Just look at the numbers. Better yet! Hey JDN and GM look at the numbers. Take the absence of the Coupe, for instance. I bet you good money that the savings is nonexistent when the higher ATPs of those previous gen. trims come in to play. The CTS Coupe was priced about $4,000 more than the sedan if memory serves me. There justification for not having a Gen3 Coupe is most likely the fact that the ATS Coupe and ELR exist. So what? Benz AND BMW have mid size coupes. Benz and BMW have small two doors as well. They also have sport coupes. Of course both of theirs have convertible tops while Cadillac's can't even get a Damn sunroof. The ELR is sexiest Coupe on the market and I can't even get a CTS Coupe style tilt sunroof. To hell with the constant ridicule, thoughts of buyer apprehension because of price or brand cachet. Anyone not understanding why Cadillac sales are down is just blind and not willing to look at the problem straight on; no car for my particular desire or niche? I'm going to the competition. Offer a Stick in the CTS. Niches add up. The thing is that these aren't even expensive in execution versus payoff. Quite frankly I would even suggest that in this particular situation, and as the only one in the class with a stick, they could charge slightly more than the automatic simply because they would have the only game in town. Being different is a shoe in for more sales, 1 piece at a time.

See I believe they should stay the course, keep prices where they are, and add to their line up and sales will come. How and why would anyone think that car sales would rise in a market with high CUV sales? Cadillacicon1.png sales will improve per model when they offer other products that get people in the showroom. You have no idea how many SRX sales are converted from Escalade desires.

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Cruze Minus Camo
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
This looks great IMO.. as I loved the new Volt, this car is just as great as that one and more, but without the same grille work it loses the similarities to the Acura designs. This one looks more upscale and luxo than the current model before the facelift. The current one with the facelift was an obvious precursor to what we would be seeing thru out the Chevy line.. just as the recently debuted Malibu was. Finally I think that Chevy will have a name that isn't marred by BS and cheap materials. The Cavalier lasted for 3 Generation.. I have a feeling that this one will go well beyond that, as it has earned a rep that signifies acceptance in the market place, of quality workmanship and great tech and fuel economy. 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, A dual-clutch transmission, and return of the diesel engine option is welcome and a continued and concerted effort to retain leadership in that fuel economy. There is also speculation that this car will be getting Voltec as well. Meaning that Chevy will have two Hybrids in the line and two all out EVs. Anyone questioning this hasn't been listening for the past 9 years about compliance needs for CAFE.. which kick in soon.- 36 replies

Not to stir the pot in yet another Cadillac thread (this is getting old), but have you seen this? Or looked up depreciation through a cost-to-own site such as KBB's? Or perused Cars.com or Autotrader listings for that matter? I think you'll see interesting things that may be slightly out of sync with what you want to see. Just saying... ANYHOW, that pricing seems appropriate given the previous model's pricing and the lower rung models' pricing, new vs. old. Perfecto. As we've all been told multiple times, the S-Class is the standard of the world. Even in your article, a Mercedes S-Class loses 32.4% of its value in the first year... or roughly $32,400. Six months of depreciation is $16,200, so seeing as that was just a snarky guess on my part, it still seems to be pretty accurate. In absolute dollar terms, after 2 years of Benz ownership, you will have basically bought a CTS V-Sport with your depreciation. Using the percentages in that article An E63 will be worth about $68,750, a loss of $32,950. A CTS-V will be worth about $53,629, a loss of $31,361 After figuring for the opportunity costs and interest expense of spending an extra $16k on the Benz, the Cadillac is a much better deal.... and it will be at least an equally capable vehicle. Percentages are fun to look at, but in the end, it comes down to actual dollars and sense. It is true that you will still save money with the CTS-V, even taking into account the listed MSRP for the E63 is actually $94.5k for non S models. According to my (by all means, rough; no Ins or EPA data to use) calculations, the 5 year cost-to-own for the CTS-V may undercut the E63 by a bit, on top of the purchase price difference. Still, ignoring the snark... E-class depreciation =/= S-class depreciation < CTS depreciation, regardless. CTS depreciation of late.. as in 2014 models has more to do with the overproduction that Cadillac is correcting than anything else. In terms of VSeries, versus say AMG.. the depreciation factor is in the Cadillac owner's favor. My 2012 VCoupe with 20K on the ODO is worth $42K after I paid $73K OTD, or a loss of 43% A '12 AMG E63 with same features and mileage is at $58K, paid OTD $130K, or a loss of 55%

Cadillac is getting the Voltec powertrain in the CT6. JDN has also said that it will be going in the CTS, ATS, and SRX follow-ups. IN fact the said that the entire line-up would be getting electrification. It is the way of the future, as much as Diesel preponderates love that stinky mess.. and the added torque, which does very little in terms of actual performance gains.. Its no way on Earth I'd buy a diesel luxury car over an electrical one. The deal is sweeter when one considers that the torque portion of the Diesel stronghold is moot.. when an, for example, CT6 Plug-in has 335HP /432lbs of torque. Bluetec doesn't match that and nor does BMW's diesel inline 6

Boy Racer??? No That would be over at Lexus with its IS, in all trims. Personally I think this car is "DA $h!. If not for the size, considering I'm 6'3 and 217lbs,(and have no business being in a car like this and complaining about its size). To me this car beats the other's in looks/style and class. Performance in the preliminary tests.. THE PRELIMINARY tests, show that between it, and an M4/M3, a "driver's contest" would yield the winner. I am half thinking that by production or even later comparos U may see Cadillac upping its numbers by tuning themselves to give a clearer winner.I'd buy this in a heartbeat, thro a quick, inexpensive tune in it to allow for beating up on 911s and Vettes, and be happy as a pig in slop. I see no downside to owning this car. Even more, and I'm sure I'm in the minority, I see the Cadillac badge as equal in terms of heritage to the Benz, and over that of the BMW, which I'm sorry.. considering my ability to buy any of them, is nothing more than a well rounded, better handling Jetta alternative with pleather seats. If U don't get that reference then U've never been to Europe. -
Autoguide Video: 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Review
Cmicasa the Great replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Cadillac
^^^^^^^THIS. Outside of a desire to kill supply numbers fast I see no reason why the 7speed wasn't used. I would have also had no issue with instead of the LF4 being used, GM going with the LT1 instead for V-Series application and leaving the TTV6 for a VSport ATS, maybe at about 370HP/390lbs. In tracking steering could be all the difference in the world. This ATS-V is on top of that.. not to mention apparently not having issues of break fade like the M4, which certainly inspires confidence. In a sprint.. yeah.. the M4 apparently has a wee bit more jump, but I am gonna say that the ATS-V looks to make up for it in terms of driving dynamics.. just enough. As a Cadillac lover this would easily be the car in my garage over that Kraut. Cadillac didn't build a better M3/M4, it built a better Sport/Lux CAR This is sex on wheels.. and too bad I have to wait for its bigger, more expensive sister to arrive -
https://youtu.be/8VGYv4Gg1L8 More powerful, quicker and outright faster than a comparableBMW, Cadillac’s newest model is the best reason to skip the letter M and head all the way down the alphabet to V. The smallest and lightest V model ever, Cadillac has applied years of development from its CTS-V models, not to mention a racing program that has been winning championships on race tracks across America for over a decade. So where better to put Caddy’s claims to the test than on the long straights and complex corners of the Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 circuit in Austin, Texas? Turbocharged Power The lessons learned for this car may come from the past, but Cadillac certainly didn’t borrow from the archives when it came to the ATS-V’s engine. While past V models have been V8s and often supercharged ones at that, that’s certainly not the case here. Instead there’s a new twin-turbo V6. http://www.autoguide.com/manufacturer/cadillac/2016-cadillac-ats-v-review

Yeah.. the only brand I can see really sharing any of Cadillac's engines would be Buick.. and only in the top-end if an Avenir type vehicle was built. I think even in that iteration it would be overkill to go the Enthusiast's route for what really should be GM's Lexus rival.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Plans More V-Series Models

I really don't think we are gonna see a VSeries of the CT6. I base this on what JDN has said. Seems like in some instances VSport or Platinum is really all that is needed. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac Plans More V-Series Models
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I don't think that the Escalade-V will be missed. Its a body on frame BIG BOY. VSeries seems to be more like MSeries than AMG, which is very often just additional power and less upgrades in chassis tuning and full on driving dynamics. I do think that in place of an Escalade we will be seeing an XT7 or XT8-V. In truth I could see a business case for all of them being Vseries tagged, but logistically.. maybe they have their reasons the same way that BMW has their's in not doing it to the 7Series -
By that thinking, the Corvette should lose the V8 in favor of turbo 4 and turbo V6 engines, because the Corvette is lighter than a GT-R or Mercedes SL, and the Corvette can do with less power. A 300 hp Turbo 4 would give the Corvette the same power as in 1996, and a 400 hp turbo V6 would give the same power as 2005, so that should be adequate, since the imports weight more. Sure... if my thinking was so narrow minded like yours in that there is only one way to skin a cat..... but there are multiple paths to the same performance goal. Lately, the German's have been taking a 1960s domestics approach ... their vehicle weights keep creeping up and up so their response is to just throw more power at the car to keep up with acceleration expectations. Cadillac is taking a different path. They are going on an extreme weight loss plan while still increasing power though not quite as much. The CT6 is larger than the short wheel base 7 series but weighs about the same as a 335xi. It is a few inches shorter than an S-Class but weighs the same as a C350. The ability to do that kind of weight cutting is going to put the Germans at a huge disadvantage as Cadillac rolls this technology out to other vehicles. How many minutes til he brings up the Jag XJ to bring negativity on anything U just posted about the CT6??? He will fail in that one as well

Again.. irrelevant and wrong. Cadillac has a 420HP, 460 ft lb V8 in their most recognizable vehicle, the Escalade. They also will have V8 in the CTS-V and CT6. That still completely ignores the fact that their TTv6s from 3.0L to 3.6L encompass ground from 400hp to 464hp. Also in the 2007 Cadillac had a S/C V8 with 469HP and a N/A one with 403HP. U are ignoring all of that for the simpleton sake of your argument...again.. against anything positive from Cadillac I was only using base V8s to make the comparison easy. Because this is also about the mainstream engines, as the Northstar was main Cadillac engine of the 90s. Mercedes had a 622 hp supercharged V8 in the SLR in 2007, I guess I could compare that to the 469 hp Cadillac supercharged V8. But that wouldn't really seem fair. Bud get it thru your SKULL.. if GM wanted to produce a 622HP V8 in 2007 they would have. Furthermore if my memory serves me right the SLR's engine was actually more developed by Mclaren, cost about $500K and never met the goals of sales that Mercedes set for it

While many academics say to NOT Quote Wikipedia, you are again comparing apples to oranges. You talk v8 HP numbers and how S Class was 389, yet that was only in their high end V12 according to this site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_S-Class Their standard V8 engine only put out 275hp. The amount of power out of the engine for this Hybrid compared to past engines is amazing and the CT6 is a lean machine compared to the bloated S Class. I agree with Balthazar, let the magazine tests show who is better. I do Love that Cadillac is having a Hybrid at launch with the new CT6. Do not see MB doing this yet. I agree. The idea that the CT6 is not an S-Class competitor is literally under-promising, and over-delivering by Cadillac. Compare: From Benz site: 1) The S-Class Plug-In Hybrid also offers multiple drive modes so you can customize how you want to spend and recover energy. The CT6- Plug-In Hybrid will allow driver to choose among three operating modes named Normal, Sport and Hold: 2) The S-Class Plug-In Hybrid will drive solely on electric power up to 20 miles The CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will drive solely on electric power up to 37 miles 3) S-Class Plug-in Hybrid Combined power output of 436 hp, 479 lb-ft of torque (3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine + electric motor) Acceleration: 0-to-60 mph in 5.2 seconds CT6 Plug-in Hybrid combined power output of 335hp, 432 lb-ft of torque (2.0L Turbo+ Electric motor) Acceleration: TBA.. but I'm betting it is lower than that 5.2 seconds 4) S-Class Plug-In is est city/highway: 21/26 mpg CT6 Plug-in is est to be more than double that of the conventional CT6 (which we kno is similar in many respects, due to weigh savings, to that of the CTS (2.0L Turbo with 6speed gets 20/30MPG).. so a CT6 Plug in coming in at 40/60mpg??? Keep in mind that the S-Class Plug-In Hybrid is est (by C&D) to come in at an almost "Tahoe like" 5100lbs. I gonna throw the cash down on "Black" and say that this CT6 Plug-in will still not cross the 4000 mark.

completely irrelevant in today's climate of CAFE looming, and attempts to circumvent any upticks of resurgence in oil prices. The race is on for not only big HP.. but also BIG HP with Fuel Economy coupled to it. Out of all the manufacturers the most scrutinized on the planet has been GM.. and because of that I would dare to say that they are one of the only ones that actually hit their EPA numbers or better concerning HP.. and at the same time have engines that are among the most powerful in their segments As Balthazar points out.. the 2.0L is kicking out 335HP/ and 432 ft-lbs of torque in this config... versus 300HP/295 ft-lbs from the V8 Northstar. And before U bring up anything else to lather Mercedes nuts in saliva.. I will remind U that altho they have a 2.0L with 355hp/332 ft-lbs.. GM's LNF 2.0L engine from 6 years ago was easily tuned from 260hp/260 ft-lb to those HP levels.. so it's not such a feat as U will most likely make it Furthermore, comparing apples to apples as opposed to apples to raisins, the L37 NS has been dead so long.. the BMW i8 uses a turbo 1.5L and has a pair of Electric engines mated to it. with 357hp and 420 lb-ft and a 15 miles EV range. versus this one having an est 37 mile range with 335hp/432 lb-ft. Whats interesting is that the BMW has 12 more HP... while the Cadillac has 12 more lb-ft of torque.

More at Link:http://www.carscoops.com/2015/04/cadillac-confirms-335hp-four-cylinder.html 1) Normal: Everyday commuting. Provides ideal balance of comfort, performance and maximized EV range and fuel economy. 2) Sport: Aggressive off-the-line feel and a stiffer steering response. 3) Hold: Allows owners to select when car uses its engine, reserving the remaining battery charge for later use, specifically in urban setting where EVs are most efficiently used. Gotta wonder if the 3.6L is now the entry or we are going to see a 2.0L without the PHEV. Is the 2.0L the only application of the engine in this car. It is RWD as stated before pertaining to the 2.0L

I hear U Drew. It actually makes sense, altho I stick by my vote. I am looking forward to a test drive before purchase/lease of a new CTS-V, but the CT6 actually gives me pause. The overall design is, imo, on par with the CTS-V, as in the CTS-V is an enhancement or upgrade on the already stellar appearance of the CTS. The CT6 shares in that distinction. It strikes me as BOLD and BRASH, while at the same time being classy and mature. Quite frankly I think that it blows the German big cars away in terms of looks.. if for no other reason than I have always thought the CTS killed it, in terms of styling, versus the 5, A6, and E-Class
