  1. Pricing remains the focus when it has little to do with the issues. 1) The cars (CTS and ATS) are not represented in areas their competition 2) The cars get no marketing. When is the last time U saw an ATS commercial?? For me, it was the one where the guys are running thru Italy (?). That was in 2013. I have never ever ever ever seen a CTS commercial. Not one. 3) The CTS doesn't have a Wagon, a Coupe, a Hi-Po (yet), a Hybrid, or a diesel.. and no convertible. The 5series and E-Class do. Wash, Rinse, Repeat for the ATS with exception to the Coupe. 4) Hey GM.. despite the fact that BMW and Benz do it.. no Cadillac should leave the factory without fog/auxiliary lights or HIDs. In fact.. U should just kill the "Standard" trim. "Luxury" trim should be your base.. but with the things I named above.
  2. No doubt.. I was thinking this the other day in the Cadillac JDN thread: 2.0L TT could go from 220HP to 320HP 3.0L TT could go from 340HP detuned to 400HP 3.6L TT could go from 410 to 465HP then bring in the TT V8 4.5L as a 500 to 600 HP engine.
  3. The Camaro isn't really in competition with the 4-series, someone before posted about the Camaro being an M4 killer. I am not a BMW fan boy, but I wouldn't under estimate the M3/M4. But again they aren't really in competition, one is a luxury car, one is not. Yeah I am constantly perplexed why people cross-compare these cars when they are not cross-shopped. I love GM. I love Chevy and Cadillac, but I have no desire or delusions that a Camaro would be cross shopped with a BMW, Cadillac, Benz, or Lexus. I do, however, believe that the Camaro will perform as well as many of the similar HP/Handling cars from those makers. Why?? Its a Pony car for the 21st century. It has technology that blurs the lines between it and the perceived luxury car.. but so does my Impala.. so doe the Cruze, or Sonic.
  4. Exactly. Smaller displacement would be more welcome in other markets. There could be substitutions. The ATS-V, for instance, could have had a V8.. excuse the pun. Cadillac wants their own engine family.. thus it got the TTV6. As a future CTS-V Gen3 owner, I'm actually wondering if they are gonna come in year two with a TTV8
  5. I think the LS7 is gonna be retired or, at some point maybe morphed into a larger V10.. or V12. Who knows??? The biggest issue for the LS7 really boils down to CAFE and Globalization. The Z28 in Europe or China??? Your costs would skyrocket because of the size of the engine. I'm betting good money that the Z28 in Europe would cost more than a Z06 in Europe due to taxation. Of course now we are seeing a great deal of forced induction.. Supercharging now.. but turbo charging is becoming a major player as well. Look at the Cadillac line. I foresee the LT4 in the CTS-V as a temporary thing, and the Turbo V8 we've been hearing about going into it after the CT6 gets it.. and possibly their recipe for a CTS-V AWD.
  6. OK.. now I have to find out how U guys did this, because even I have never posted a video.. LOL
  7. Olds... U made it. No one tell him how to post videos please
  8. U really are delusional. Your argument of sales is ridiculous.. as the Camry outsells several cars in its segment 3:1. The fact that with its numbers.. it generates $1 Billion in profit.. proves my original, and Balthazar's supporting assertion about it being overpriced. That is.. essentially how U make profit. Only a fool would pay full price for an S-Class... when U can get one for about $30K off a year later. I can find U a '13 S550 with 23K miles for under $60K. That's a fact But the Camry doesn't outsell the Accord, Altima and Fusion combined, and cost 20% more than those 3. If buyers thought the S-class was over priced or a rip off then it wouldn't sell. S-class has over 40 years on top of the mountain, no one has knocked it off yet. They have sold about 3 million S-classes since 1972 when they actually started using the S-class name. There must have been a lot of fools walking into Mercedes dealerships since then. I am sure the bean counters at GM would have loved if the ELR sold 1,000 units a month at their $75,000 price tag so they turned a profit. Rather than having almost no sales and having to kill the product off as another one and done. Get a grip bud. The ELR is being renamed and reconfigured. Sales are sales. The ELR sells.. Just in low numbers at this point
  9. Damn it.. The Stingray does it in 3.5-3.7 secs. The Camaro SS is gonna be lighter than the ATS-V.. thus that's where I got my number Chevrolet's website states 3.8 seconds, I assume that is with the 8-speed auto. Car and Driver (who I think gets the quickest 0-60 times) got 3.9 seconds on a Corvette Z51 package manual transmission. Chevy's Website says 3.7 http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/vehicles/corvette/2015.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2014/Aug/0820-8speed/0820-8-speed-automatic.html altho Chevy is better off understating than over. GM Is the most scruitinized company on Earth.. from cars to cheeseburgers. Yes.. I'm betting someone has tried to accuse GM of screwing them out of pickles or cheese at some point in their history.. LOL.. Point is that various mags have pulled in the 3.5-3.7 times.. Hell U have regular everyday drivers pulling in 3.5secs in this car consistently
  10. I agree about the legroom. Not because I would ever have anymore than 2 people in my sport sedan or hate the idea of chauffeuring anyone... but because apparently more and more people are buying small compact luxury sedans and trying to squeeze their lazy ass friends in the rear to be chauffeured, when they could have just bought a larger CTS..

  13. You can't base anything from these new cars on the 2015 ATS 6-Speed auto. The two new 8-speeds seem to be some of the best on the market with incredibly fast shifts and a wider range of ratios. My mpg focused highway run in the ATS-V 8-Speed Auto returned some incredible fuel economy numbers (65mph, fairly flat, driving normally with cruise control). Yup. That's what I was saying. The 8speed yields some pretty decent improvements all around so far. I think we are going to see improved ATS and Camaro speeds with this tranny. The extra HP will help as well. We are talking a 335HP 3400-3500lb vehicle that gain nice HP from a few bolt-ons sure to come and a pocket tune. I won't even get into the potential of the 2.0L Turbo. Some at other sites are trying to act as tho the sky is falling based on the Iron Duke from 32 years ago... That engine put out 88hp.. this is not that engine.. and it has proven itself to be quite nice in performance in various heavier applications It's not just "an 8-Speed", it's these 8-Speeds. The new 8-Speed Hydromatics seem to have been worth waiting for. The 8-speed in the CTS V-Sport was competent, but not stellar. This new 8-speed can shift as fast or faster than the Porsche dual-clutch. Yeah.. the Aisin Warner TR-80SD 8speed was almost a match spot on for anything outta Lexus. Cadillac did itself a favor grabbing the new 8L90 and 8L45

  15. Well we'll see. But we both kno that U aren't the most optimistic person here when it comes to GM. That being said.. the new Camaro, like the '16 ATS will be getting a different engine with several more ponies and the new 8speed which has proven to be a nice performance boost in its own right. Also the Camaro isn't a Ford.. its a Chevy.. and that makes a lot of difference. ATS-V is 3.9secs with proper driving.. the SS will most likely match it due to more torque, and lighter weight (SS is supposed to losing 300lbs) which if using today's Camaro weight of 3860lb.. would bring it in some where between 3500-3600... still lighter than the ATS-V by about 100lbs.
  16. No it shouldn't have been The ELR has an interior that features materials that make the S-Class seem overpriced. The ATS interior is not the reason for its sales issues. This price point now presented will go a nice way to getting more sales for the ELR.
  17. Please. The technology is sound,.. the packaging was the issue. What exactly justifies the price of any luxury car over a competent mainstream competitor??? Can U really tell me why a 328i is justified in costing $20K more than a Camry??? I would have sold the ELR for $75K.. I just would have made the ELR a different, more substantial car for the main reason why going green makes since.. in all segments.. to be environmentally friendly. The configuration is wrong. Tesla had another model that was a failure because since when is a two seater environmentally friendly??? Must carry up to 4 Comfortably whether it be a Model S, ELR, or Chevy Tahoe. Yup.. Chevy Tahoe. Fill one up with people and it could be as fuel efficient as a Prius
  18. At this point the only stat that matters to me is the 455HP/455 lb-ft of torque 8speed one. My next daily driver, unless gas goes thru the roof will be a something with more than 400HP. That being said... The Ecotec 2.0L turbo is estimated to do 0-60 in under 6 seconds and still get 30MPG. 3.6L is SAE Certified at 335HP, in a vehicle that is lighter than the last. Just estimating on my own.. this 2.0L will be able to bring in numbers similar to the last gens V6 (5.6-5.8 sec to 60). This 3.6L with 23 more HP than my old 2011, which was capable of 0-60 in 5.6.. will be coming in at under 5 seconds. V8??? Under 4 seconds. Why? Less weight than the luxury platform-mate ATS-V with almost as much power... Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged SAE-certified 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm). Offers torque band with 90 percent of its peak torque available from 2,100 rpm to 3,000 rpm, and max torque from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm. Special NOTE on the Turbo 4 Camro vs Mustang. The Mustang turbo 4 does have more power. but from what I've heard loses about 25 HP if using Regular gas. bringing it damn near with the same numbers as the 2.0L in Camaro 3.6L V-6 SAE-certified 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. DI, AFM 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine, SAE-certified at 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque and we Got some Happiness Cool until LT4 makes its way into a ZL1 or Z28.. which I personally think will MERGE the two in the next Z28 the way the Z06 and ZR1 did.
  19. Call up all the GM, Cadillac, and EV haters because we gotta 'nother live one. Some people love to hear this kinda thing. Its actually a bit weird. ELR at $75K was fine IF Cadillac only wanted to sell them to niche buyers. They didn't. They FAILED to sell the intended 3000 (last year about 1/2 of that) units annually because they did nothing to market this car after "Poolside" went viral and let's be honest, its a 2-seater (eff the back seat in any of these sports coupes/Verts from Cadillac to Benz), it has no sunroof, which is insane considering the market for this car would seemingly be the well-to-do, Silicon Valley, greenie types who love to show up in something sexy that lets their hair blow around in the wind. This car.. THIS CAR.. should have been a sub-ATS sports car, with a convertible roof or sunroof having coupe, with a TT 2.0L 270HP and 350HP VSeries version, and ta hell with EV. The Voltec should have gone in the XTS. The XTS, with Voltec would have made sense. The XTS with Voltec would have added numbers in the realm of what Tesla sell because it would be in a car that could actually seat 5, maybe 6, with a trunk that could house a bunch of Golf Clubs. Anyway, the CT6 Hybrid rights this wrong. The ELR, will return in a proper form, and a different name. I'm thinking CT7. The CT6, with 335 hp and 432 lb-ft of torque, not to mention light weight will be pretty refreshing And another thing I wish people would stop always bringing up the Tesla Model S. The comparison of the Tesla Model S to the Cadillac ELR was a dumb one created by idiots in the first place simply because of price and they both being EVs. Tesla Model S is a 7-Seater. ELR is a 4 Seater. Tesla Model S is a sedan. ELR is a Coupe Tesla Model S is a Full-Sizer. ELR is a Compact Tesla Model S is a 100% EV. ELR is a Plug-in Hybrid Lets start comparing Pick-ups to Dirt-Bikes.
  20. The ATS 3.6 is being replace by the new 3.6 for 2016. Yup. The only thing I wonder is WHY. JDN wants to distance the brand from GM, so why not take this opportunity to go exclusive to turbos outside of V and Escalade? 2.0L TT could go from 220HP to 320HP 3.0L TT could go from 340HP detuned to 400HP 3.6L TT could go from 410 to 465HP then bring in the TT V8 4.5L as a 500 to 600 HP engine. My original point was why used the NA 3.6L with 335HP when they could just as easily go Cadillac exclusive with the 3.0L TT and more torque to boot
  21. This is the typical GM buyer mentality Cadillac has to meet or overcome. I call a lot of BS on what some people type pertaining to pricing . I'm all for expecting a DEAL. But seriously? At a Cadillac dealership? The very idea that someone would even say some of the things that are being said about pricing is proof positive that Cadillac has a problem of value shoppers coming off of the years from 2008 to now. I believe a great deal of it has to do with the previous CTS being a tweener. People need to realize that the Gen 2 CTS, because it was a tweener, lost almost every comparo the magazines threw at it *due to being simply to big when being compared to the 3series, thus more weight, slower performance, or being too "low rent" when being compared to the 5series, due to a $10,000 price gap. Cadillac upped the price, yes, but they also upped the car. Perceptions have to catch up with reality in this situation or we will see them go back to mediocre vehicles that can't actually compete in any way except pricing. People can't have it both ways.I think that the current car should have been named STS and the ATS should have taken the name CTS. Better yet, the CT name changes should have been implemented when the XTS first debuted so that their would be no confusion as to what was what and what was for whom.* In the end Cadillac's shuffling of leaders may be the cause, but that seems to be on the mend with both Johan and Uwe heading the charge. I am confident that they will turn things around. I would offer that we reflect on what Johan said upon speaking to dealers last year. He warned that sales would get worse before they got better. I believe when rebooting a brand, thus time seemingly in proper fashion, it is absolutely unreasonable to believe anything else. Cadillac discounts have shriveled on anything but leftovers. The CTS is missing almost 40% of its previous line up without the couple, Vseries, or wagon. It is directly priced with the XTS, which unlike the DTS sitting next to the 05-10 STS , is actually a competent driver despite being FWD. Again, Rebooting without the Fritz Henderson/Brian Nesbit misaligned XTS will bring more focus on the brand. The ATS is the first real entry Cadillac has ever taken seriously in its segment. It needs to be allowed to gel. The issues that are brought up, normally in regards to its backseat are new one to the lunacy as before the 3series decided to go big, losing a great deal of it's "3seriesness" it was no larger in the back seat than the ATS. If a buyer wants cheap go buy a Chevy, Honda or Honda. Heck premium? Lincoln or Buick. If you want cheap luxury then go buy used. I can promise you right now one can find a 2013 S550 for about $58,000 with about 23k on the odometer. Cadillac should not want you as a buyer if you can't stomach their prices for a competitive product. Mind you if they were still offering previous gen workmanship on the CTS, which wasn't bad, quite nice in fact, but not on the current car's level, then I would agree with your original assessment. They are not. They are offering vehicles now that are not only on par with the Germans, but in some areas surpassing them. Sales? Why are they not keeping up? They need better variety. Again, no coupe alone is losing them 30% of previous generation sales or trade in.
  22. In another conversation elsewhere a person commented that GM is a "company that know(s) how to manufacturer and sell trucks" considering the fact that Cadillac, as a whole with regards to sales is losing market due to not having "trucks" (read more SUV/CUVs) to accommodate the trends of the luxury market currently. Who can honestly say that people would make some of the crazy comments being made about brand cachet or pricing if Cadillac sales were still in growth like 2013? Who can actually say that they would be if THEY had a new XT5, XT3, and XT7 on the lot Now? I mean Right Now. Just based on trends of CUV sales Cadillac would be selling at the very least more than Audi
