  1. Interesting enough.. Cadillac should have sold the Catera and a Catera Coupe during those days using what would become the GTO. I remember being in my 2000 Vette back around 2004.. when the GTO started showing up.. and almost had my ass handed to me. That was with the 5.7L.. then they upgraded that bitch to a 6.0L with LS2
  2. The weird thing I keep thinking is WHY THE HELL won't GM match the 2.0L Mercedes is kicking out ? The HP rating of the 2.0L Turbo in the 2008 Cobalt SS was easily massaged to higher gains.. 10 years ago. GMPP upgrade for the LNF Turbo Ecotec,( the 2.0L DI Turbo I4 that sees duty in the Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR SS, Pontiac Solstice GXP, and Saturn Sky Redline) which bumps power from 260bhp and 260lb-ft to 290bhp and 340lb-ft (352nM to 460nM) for $650... with a warranty https://www.carthrottle.com/post/gm-to-disband-high-performance-vehicles-operation/
  3. Granted.. and it was a damn nice handler from what I remember, but the HP was weak.. I really wish that they would have put 3800S/C in there from the Bonneville SSEi.
  4. Can we all just agree that Mercedes is no longer the direction of where a luxury car maker should be going.. and over the last few years it really has watered down its line-up to the point that it is now competing with Chevy as much as Buick and Cadillac? The consumer isn't completely in-the-kno on that yet.. but its is slowly changing. The more CLA and GLAs.. base E-Classes put out.. the more watered down the brand becomes and people are getting wind. come on.. this is Chevy 1LT at best If Cadillac has learned anything from 2013-2017 it should be that even if U build a world class core duo of cars, they aren't going to sell like they would if they were core duo (or trio) of CUVs. I would elect to keep the CT3, CT5, CT6, and still simply add a Coupe version of each to cover the EVEN numbering, with at least a convertible on the CT3. Those models would be obviously more expensive and I see a CT8 as a fleshed out V8 and EV.. 4 inches longer L version of the redesigned CT6 Platinum to push it past the S-Class in length. CUVs (XT4, XT5, and XT7[Omega]) along with the Escalade Duo (which are essentially your XT8 and 9) would round out the line-up and put Cadillac in the sales numbers it was looking towards by 2020 (500K). For the sake of Profitability GM would be wise to do this along with expanding on its Denali line in terms of niche buyers looking for better alternatives to Jeep.
  5. I have to interject and say that Cadillac did sell for a time a Saab based BLS before the ATS arrived.
  6. ^^^ Exactly. Back in 2016 it was published "Last year, Cadillac sold almost 278,000 vehicles worldwide. Because the average transaction price for a Cadillac in the U.S. market reportedly is $53,000, that means the brand generated about $15 billion in revenue for GM."
  7. First.. part of the reason why Hitler rose to power because of German hate of foreign powers meddling in their affairs.. specifically when labor/corporations were concerned, thus his ascension in the National Socialist German Workers, aka NAZI. And back to your point.. Acura does not sell vehicle in the same price range as Cadillac, with ATPS usually being about $10K different, not to mention their vehicles are primarily positioned against Buick and Lincoln. Also in reality Acura and Cadillac currently are selling 6 name plates each. Furthermore GM has 3 luxury brands.. all profit makers. Cadillac, Buick and GMC with the Denali brand
  8. Beautiful choice.. much better than any Japanese Mazda. Very impressed with the fit and finish. Looked at one when my GF needed help deciding on a new Malibu. She got it but seriously considered a Cruze Hatch. Maybe I missed it but why did U buy from a PA dealer instead of a MD one?
  9. 1) That wasn't a personal attack.. it was a simple request and desire for U to leave the United States of America and go live where U hold so dear. As to the car situation I'll quote myself once more.. "Maybe they just didn't see the need or profitability of large scale production of Cadillacs in a region that was so heavily entrenched in loyal supporting of home brands. Its still evident.. Europe is a closed market that has makers who are only really profitable because of their outside sales and Union+Gov't manipulation." Add that to what Drew said about the war being still fresh in people's minds as much of the continent was devastated.. France having been occupied, Germany torn apart, literally, Great Brit blown to shreds.. Who the fuck was going to buy a brand new Cadillac.. imported and taxed to the hilt... Oh.. I think U probably forget that the Allies.. and the Nazis.. blew manufacturing plants up.. so what was left was used to employ Europeans.. who wanted to buy European As per my recollection.. European cars were shit.. and not made good at all. Especially in the 70s and 80s. Japanese cars were no different. Fact of the matter is that the Japanese, specifically, gained a foothold in the U.S. not because of reliability.. but fuel efficiency. That Fuel efficiency wasn't even because the cars were more techno advanced.. but literally smaller.. and housed smaller engines. 2) In recovery mode Cadillac's line-up is being built back up to serve individuals with those desires. 3) What I find ridiculous is that U state sales "Year-to-Date Mercedes has sold 70,311 American made cars in the USA (132,966 actual), while Cadillac has sold 59,493" but continue to neglect to point out that Mercedes has a line-up that is comprised of 5 Sedans/wagons, 6 Coupes, 7 SUV/CUVs, 5 Convertibles/Roadsters, and 4 Hybrids. While Cadillac has 3 SUV/CUVs, 4 Sedans, 1 Coupe, and 1 Hybrid, and has been matching them in ATPs. Personally I find Benz's sales performance here troubling and pathetic. I have to say.. if sales were the only thing that JDN was seeking then adding a barrage of essentially Buick class vehicles, emulating Benz.. would be all he needs. I would say that Cadillac sales would easily be a 80K at this point..
  10. Maybe they just didn't see the need or profitability of large scale production of Cadillacs in a region that was so heavily entrenched in loyal supporting of home brands. Its still evident.. Europe is a closed market that has makers who are only really profitable because of their outside sales and Union+Gov't manipulation. Its a prime reason why even Toyota's sales paled in comparison to VW, PSA, Renault, Ford, and Opel sales last year in Europe. The problem with the U.S. market is that it is populated with blind fools such as yourself.. who insist on defending other nations products even at the peril of their own livelihood or national pride. U are pathetic.. make me sick.. and I would love it if U are not going to keep your foreign loving mouth shut.. U get the fuck outta this country and move to Germany. Every time I see a Mercedes I think of U.. consider looking for a bag full of dogshit and doing a smear campaign of realistic proportions.
  11. CT6.. admittedly way better than the Continental.. sold only 60 units less despite the price dif. XT5 outsold MKC, MKX, and MKT combined, not even including the 6 SRX sales
  12. @dfelt Spark is seriously down.. so is Sonic. Impala isn't getting any favors considering the Malibu is like 7/8s its size, more tech and, and costs 1/2. Overall.. nice sales on Retail tho. ATS and CTS replacements along with a few variants.. not to mention XT4 can't get here soon enuff.
  13. My reason for saying it has nothing to do it being an FCA vehicle. It has to do with PEOPLE... and them currently getting into massive accidents on Interstates driving vehicles that have 1/8th the power of the Demon. Even still.. normally U find a lot of irresponsible idiots in cars like the Dodge, Chevy, or Ford pulling that kinda of power. Stop being so fuckin sensitive every time your Italian company gets mentioned.
  14. U kno I agree. I have on countless occasions said that my '14 Impala was a true rival, imo, to the E350 of the same time. Smk will blath about 0-60 times I'm sure.. but I will automatically counter wit.. They are literally identical in that metric despite again.. the GM car being larger by a foot
  15. This is huge.. and historic so Smk doesn't want to admit. Mercedes, IMO, really didn't come off as luxury in the sense that Caddy did (and BMW damn sure didn't) until the late 80s.. BMW did't become that way til the late 90s. Their sweet spot was the toppling of Cadillac and Lincoln when Lexus hit (along with Acura and Infiniti) in the early 90s thus making the Cadillac and Lincoln brands seem "for old people" and no longer "cool." That along with BMW's "World's Ultimate Driving..." and great handling to back it up solidified the need for an American luxo company to move to that direction as well. Lincoln failed with the LS, and threw in the towel.. Cadillac started with the Catera, and morphed it into the Catera Touring Sedan or "CTS" and here we are. Thing is that SIGMA was ever bit as dynamic as anything coming from Germany.. they just didn't have the "Cool" back.. or the recognition by the younger Gen X buyers that Cadillac was as much of a track/curve star as anything coming from BMW, Benz, and Audi. The luxury appointments got muddled down when the money got tight a GM.. That lasted from 2003 to 2010. Shit has changed. Money is now abundant. The entire Cadillac line-up can do battle with Germany and in many situations come out on top. The CT6 TT3.0 could effectively go up against an A8, 740 or S550 and beat them inn many areas with no bias involved.. and the CT6 is not even billed as the Flagship.
  16. It might also stand to reason that Cadillac.. up until 2016.. didn't have anything close to a Full-Size RWD vehicle to be considered. The CT6 is certainly up to snuff now.. and a CT8 will be over the top. Its like when arguing sales but ENTHUSIASTS.. who see the sales.. kno the make-up.. completely ignore the fact that Cadillac essentially had 6 vehicles (170,006) for 2016.. and Audi had 12 (210,213) yet doesn't scold Audi, plush with CUVs, for only selling 40K more than a brand that has half its number of available names.. and only ONE real CUV.
  17. Cadillac is more Cadillac these days that it had been during the gestation of 2003-2009. Again.. the BK put a lot of stuff Cadillac was planning on hold.. the recovery after the BK has been quite good with the only real hiccup being the non realization by previous management that CUVs would overwhelm the luxury market as well.. not to mention that its competition from singular luxury companies would dip waaaaaay low into the mainstream.. eg. Mercedes selling a "Cimmaron" (CLA) and the so called "World's Ultimate Driving Machine, BMW selling shit like the FWD X1.. a rebodied Mini to the public. The double standard is insane.. if Cadillac did either of those things U, most likely would roast them. Ironically.. I think the Cadillac version of a CLA based on the Cruze would still be better than the CLA.. and a small CUV based on the the Regal would fuck up the X1.
  18. I dunno.. Escalade is gotta be getting ready for an overhaul so maybe they want to wait. I just wish I could get an update. I really want to try it out long term without trading in.. as I'm seriously considering moving to the CT6 if it gets the TTV8
  19. i hope U mean an optional 600hp V8. One of the reasons i hate coming to forums these days are the ludicrous comments made by "enthusiasts " pertaining to HP and consumer products. I agree that a XT8 should exist on Omega, but i think a base engine should be around 400-450hp with optional engine in the 500s and 600s, tge latter being a orderable option built at direct customer request thru dealership
  20. Classic.. The Sclass on Omega? GM should license it to Benz.. their far superior platform. Some person i kno would be found the next day after the announcement, with a bottle of pills next to there rotting corpse.
  21. LG is the manufacture of the components but the patent and engineering is GM's. They designed the entire system including the electric traction motor and battery-control system, not to mention the integration of all components into the vehicle. They are similar in fact to what Magna is to various OEMs. Tesla right now is a money pit that makes no money doing what they do. GM is actually moving in the right direction.. at the right pace considering the market. The Bolt and Volt may be less expensive but the difference in sales says a lil more. We'll see when the Model 3 shows up. It will initially have a sales advantage.. but honestly.. why would GM be able to easily counter with an EV version of any of its cars at this point?
  22. I'm thinking that this will be the case. The 4cylinder mode even in my 6Speed used to love to come on during Highway cruising until I tuned it out. That being said.. I really haven't considered a change-over for the sake of a new tranny.
  23. Gotcha... and I am looking forward to the "new product every six months from mid-2018 through the end of 2020 into 2021" scenario That's about 6 new products even if it includes the XT3, CT5, and CT3.. I'm looking forward to the balance
  24. How does that make sense, when the headlines are constantly saying that the true rival and threat to Tesla.. is GM. It is one of the few automakers that has its own EV, PHEV, and Hybrid tech on patent. In fact.. I believe BMW, for instance.. and possibly Daimler, have to pay licensing to GM for their versions of Voltec. That patent has a LOT of things in it. I kno for a fact that BMW's i3 is a direct Volt knock off partially because the lead engineer worked on the Volt before he left. Currently GM has the Volt, Bolt, CT6, Spark and upcoming Malibu Hybrid utilizing what could be the best tech on the market. Also GM is also selling the #1 for the year Volt
