And my point was that at a certain point.. price what ever.. what can any maker do to truly make their interiors look the part that will please U? The materials in a $200K vehicle are not so much different than they are in a $80K car. Ever been in a new Maserati? Well.. Even tho my vehicle was over $100K.. the materials in the $80K version aren't much different. Versus my friend's GrandTurismo.. he paid $140K for.. U would swear mine was just expensive in the inside- 191 replies

XLR was a fantastic car but its issues had more to do with a polarizing A&S look up against more classical looking competitors. Furthermore.. the drive-train of the XLR was smoother than, but not as powerful as the C6. The XLR was on a C5 Platform.. during the time the C6 was new to the GM fold when it should have been the C6 Platform before the Corvette arrived. Also the Cadillac XLR was a failure because of the TIME that GM put it out and the necessary investment dollars that were needed to make it work. Those things on top of the their choices of engines not being powerful enough to keep up across the board with the Benz SL and BMW 6Series. They took a great deal of the dynamics of the C5 and left the one thing that may have saved the XLR.. the LS1 as a base engine at launch. All that being said.. the part about "GM at the right time" refers to 2005-2009 when the C6 was now out.. (XLR was still sitting on C5 platform) with an LS2 and then an LS3.. LS7 and LS9.. hell even the debut of the CTS-V with the 556HP LSA while the last XLR-V still had the 443HP SC Northstar in it. IF that doesn't show the writing on the wall at the time I don't kno what does. This time the CTS-V got the SAME engine the Z06 had. The difference in 10HP power between the CTS-V and Z06 will be attributed to less aggressive exhaust systems in the luxo versus the sports car. This formula would be the perfect solution for Cadillac and a new "XLR." What I see happening tho might also prove fine if.. the Corvette Team.. GM's real performance developers and Cadillac Team.. GM's real luxo developers.. collaborate in merging the two with the C8 Mid-Engine's DOHC Turbo engine. That engine must boast proper HP and NVH for both cars. GM must see the numbers as a whole.. not as two separate profit centers. Meaning the Cadillac sales would be the gravy on top of an already profitable Vette one.. like the Tahoe vs the Escalade.. literally that model. In fact.. this should be the formula for all Cadillacs. Being that all Cadillacs be a variant of what's over a Chevy's top end vehicles. Eg. CT3/CT5=Camaro, CT6/CT8=Impala/Caprice, Tahoe/Subur=Escalade, XT5=Equinox, XT6=Trailblazer etc. No issues over at VW/Audi or Toy/Lexus doing this. BMW and Mercedes don't have this advantage so all their cars have to be one-offs Back to the XLR vs say a SL.. the Cadillac was a better looking car, imo.. but more polarizing and new age. Also.. Cadillac should have not went gimmicky on the top.. and opted for a soft-top like the rest and saved the HARD TOP for an option. The interior was the same.. but I think the angles and such threw some potential buyers off. Ironically 12 years later.. I think the Cadillac interior would still work.. while the Benz one shows its age- 191 replies

Because that's the one I have driven. I have never driven a regular Carrera so I don't know what the interior looks like. Sorry. I wish I was more of a MAGAZINE RACER like U.. instead of an ACTUAL EXPERIENCE ONE. Also.. are U telling me that the $91K regular Porsche should't still be better in the interior than $75K Vette? That is still a whopping $11K more for the guys at Porsche to work with in interior.. yet they still barely manage to equal the Stingray. I didn't say the Z06.. I didn't even say the GS 4Godsake. and to the luxo point.. if Cadillac produces a variant of the C8.. then I have no doubt in my mind that in terms of luxo/performance.. we are going to see another CTS-V vs E63AMG moment again- 191 replies

Oh no.. I'm a boy.. much better than what I think U are slick. As for the Cayman vs the 911 interiors.. I did so based on PRICE.. and the Cayman GT4 still being $10K more than the STINGRAY The $110K 911 Carrera 4S interior below better fuckin be a step up from a $75K Stingray.. yet.. its not. If I have to tell U why U really .. U kno what.. I'm not gonna insult U. It obvious why the Carrera 4S interior would be slightly better.- 191 replies

OH.. I am a Corvette/GM FAN BOI all day every day. But I also have historically backed up my mouth with CASH.. and taken the time to drive and talk to cats who own the very cars that mine compete with. Tell me.. when was the last time U took a Vette for a 100mph+ spin then hopped out and got the keys of your boy's 911 or M3 and drove his at 100mph+? I will give Porsche, BMW, and even Benz props for performance.. but some of the BS yall come up with to try and put down the GM products is ignorant as it is wrong. So yeah U Google that.. because U simply don't kno from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE. Here is a GOOGLED pic of the $75K STINGRAY.. not even a GS or Z06.. interior. And U tell me.. How is the $85K GT4 interior 'better?'- 191 replies

1) And again... U are simply wrong.. at least in part. The C6 interior was never rattly.. and in truth once U got into 3LZ level a very comparable interior to the 911 Cayman S if not better. Believe me.. as I had plenty of Porsche guys who used to comment on the fact that my C6 interior was actually nicer than theirs. 2) Yeah.. the American companies have definitely put money into delivering a very competitive, if not world beating, bunch of engineering. That does not negate the fact that they also have improved their interiors to the point of not only being competitive but in some cases better than more expensive counterparts from abroad. No offense.. the comments U made earlier are almost ad lib MOTOR TREND BS. I always kno when conversing.. what U are gonna say about certain GM products before U say it. Talk about ATS.. CCAP is gonna bring up the back seat room. Talk about the Corvette.. he's gonna bring up the old interiors from generations gone by.. bring up the old C5 Camaro.. he's gonna say it looked "cartoony" when it debuted- 191 replies

Sorry bro.. the M4 and C63 are not that great as far as interiors to make the statement U did. While the 911 has a slightly nicer interior than the Vette.. it is only SLIGHT.. and for about an average of $20K more I'd expect it.- 191 replies

I've owned 5 of the last 7 generations of Corvette.. and the interior debate hit Corvette after the mid-80s versus a Porsche that normally cost minimum a 3rd more in price. Those times are not the case anymore. .. and the current C7 interior can easily stand up against a Porsche, and certainly the SL550 interior all day unless Designo is thrown in. BUT..like the Regal.. I would find it hard to believe U ever "sat" (cause that's all U ever do..) in a new Camaro or Vette. Your words mean nothing. Shut the hell up. There are ENTHUSIASTS in the room- 191 replies

U are so full of shit its hard for even U to keep up.. first the interior of the Vette is "average... " now its "bad.." only a paragraph away. What makes it worse is that the Corvette C7 interior all around has been winning constantly among buyers and reviewers. The Camaro.. has a damn nice interior as well. I don't even have to bring prices into the conversation.. . IMO.. so much nicer than this CLUSTER FUCK.. from Benz in a Sports car that cost $60-80K more than the Chevys. FUCK FUCK FUCK that WHORE of a Benz.- 191 replies

Look.. sitting in a car and driving a car is not even remotely the same thing when we are talking about the CAR for what it is meant for. If the CAR is about being a piece of furniture.. yeah.. I get sittin in a car and coming away with an impression of what its meant to be.. but a CAR is about the experience.. and one DRIVE of the Regal vs the CLA, including the AMG will tell would tell anyone not in the kno.. that BUICK.. is the real Sport-Lux of the two and not Benz. The build quality.. Dude.. even upon driving an AMGCLA with just 2300 miles on the odo.. the build quality, with the rattles and bottom outs suggested that I was driving a 20 year old Mazda Protege. The Regal GS I tested was solid as fuck. It was smoooth as butter. The CLA.. not even remotely. Point is that U can't ascertain the QUALITY of a car by just sitting in it. BTW. The actual rating of the thing is 36MPG not 38. Stop inflating an already inflated rating.. cause no one is getting the shit that Benz put out but U 2) U act as if it is really a feat when Turbos come into play. Do U really think that GM, if they wanted to couldn't put out a more powerful 2.0L? But why would they when they have the might LT1 for the Camaro as its most loved engine. Pony car enthusiasts would burn GM down if they came out and said that their top engine was the 2.0L Turbo.. even at 375. Hell.. the LF4 with 464hp shouldn't have even been the top engine in the U.S. for the ATS-V. Further more the 0-60 times for the CLA vs a Camaro are goofy.. when one considers that the CLAAMG is AWD and could touch a Camaro SS in any other driving metric without the owner coming home in a body bag after rolling that POS Benz 13X.- 191 replies

They are hardly crap.. just untrusted like any new product by mainstream buyers. This still doesn't mean that every maker, particularly luxo makers who can charge more and get return of investment, don't have every vehicle carrying an EV or Hybrid. The truth is that they have the range situation at hand.. especially if they go the VOLTEC way.. acceleration times are handled.. as most of the EVs or Hybrids accelerate at normal car pace.

here we go with this obsession with 0-60 again.. From 2007... I wrote: 0-60 is 4 Sissy Cars.. the Quarter is the Measurement 4 Real Per4mance The 1/4, 0-100-150.. Braking, Skid Pad numbers are more indicative of performance in cars that can go over 175MPH. I mean really... the 0-60 test is in essence designed to give a buyer of a COMMUTER car an idea of how long it would take to reach cruising speed on the FREEWAY... a COMMUTER CAR.. as in Camry, Malibu, Focus, or Caravan. 0-60 can be achieved literally in a Blink of an eye in some of these cars, and using it sometimes as a gauge of a car's performance credentials can also be deceptive... In other words U could attempt to achieve "all powerful" 0-60 times but hit the gas in a 350HP+ car and U might just sit and spin for 3/10ths before U ever take off... The 1/4 miles is the choice of track running. I have NEVER been to the track or even as a kid, heard old timers talk about how fast their 66 Chevy II, 69 Road Runner, or 70 1/2 Camaro got to 60MPH... They always talked about and we always look at the 1/4 Mile or 0-150-0 which measures all out acceleration and stopping. The 0-60 talk around here concerning "Super Cars" or cars that posting Super Car times is REDUNDANT. Consider that these days 5 seconds to 60 can be achieved by SUVs (Jeep SRT8) and Full Size Sedans (G8 GT) I vote that we reserve 0-60 times to non-performance cars like the Daily Commuter types My suggestion simply lends to the idea that when we are talking about Corvettes, Porsche's, Vipers, Camaro, Mustangs, Ferraris, Bugattis.. etc.. We move to a high realm... 4 instance.. a Veyron does 0-60 in 2.8secs.. which for a 1000HP car seems rather mundane.. considering we have 505HP cars that can do it in 3.4secs... and LET'S BE CLEAR.. 6/10ths is a BLINK of an eye unmeasurable by "seat of the pants" or the eyes... One doesn't see any real awe inspiring numbers from the Veyron until we start speaking about 0-100-0 which is 9.9secs.. meaning by the time a Prius is hitting 40MPH... SAY AGAIN...by the time a Prius got to 60... a Veyron.. hell a Zr1 would have already done 0-100 and back again to 0 the Veyron has gone to 100 and then come to a complete STOP...- 191 replies

OK.. rationale.. Yeah lets then do comparisons of a 2018 Equinox to a 2017.. Yeah.. they do compete for the same consumer dollar if there are any 17s left over.. yeah.. lets do a wheelbase comparison of the two and demerit one for having less leg room or the other for having less fuel economy.. they compete in a round about way.. GET THE FUCK OUT OUT OF HERE. I'm not making excuses.. but seriously.. its pretty easy calling a car superior to another in what ever metric if the manufacturer of said car had 5 years to study it and its other competition and make changes that it felt the consumer might enjoy. Copy this for future reference when Caddy brings out the 2019 CT3 and it triumphs over the competition in certain metrics. I'll honor my words- 191 replies

To all of U comparing the NEW C-Class's Wheel base and length.. to the ATS's which was put on the market in 2012.. come the fuck on. The C-Class at that time.. and for 5 more years had a WB of 108.7 to 108.9. 2019 comes its replacement. And to @ccap41 U now have to see why I very seldom get into a CAR ENTHUSIAST conversation with U.. I can't believe anyone outside of Smk is defending a fuckin CLA- 191 replies

Absolutely.. I have a thread somewhere from May where my neighbor basically replaced his ES with a an Acadia. GM, even with the Escalade and XTS has done an exemplary job with its engineering and differences in the platform mates. The Escalade seriously comes off as a different vehicle than the Tahoe.. sorry doubters.. it does. The XTS, if I didn't know.. there is no way I'd relate it to the LaX or Impala. Not visually anyway. Believe me I've gotten into arguments with people who were not "car people" about how their XTS was pretty much the same as my Impala.- 191 replies

They get away with the badge engineering in the U.S. simply because we are walled in to the point of not caring or knowing what is on sale in other countries. American arrogance and geography (meaning we have plenty of beautiful vacation spots without ever really leaving the United States or Territories) is used to the German's advantage. To Mercedes.. their "Chevy vehicles" floating around every part of he world are then sent over here with slightly better leather and weee bit more sound deadening and viola.. the new CLA, GLA etc. Problem is.. U can not cover up mediocrity for long. Eventually.. with the CLA for instance.. the evidence of shitty build comes out in about 8-10K miles- 191 replies

But they did. Buick discontinued it because of the changing tide to CUVs.. The ENCORE's success... already eclipsing to the top sales years for the Verano (46K in '13) is already at 56K units, up 15%, this year with Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec to go. That's more sales of the Encore than the CLA, GLA, and GLC combined.. granted they are more expensive but the point is SALES from each brands point of view yields profits based on the costs. I'm willing to bet that the Encore is more profitable than those vehicles simply because of GM larger influence and country of origin. And before U say it.. the Encore is a world vehicle as the Trax and Mokka.. not to mention the Sonic, Spark, Barina, Onix etc. Now.. GOOGLE these words : - mercedes brings cla to buick verano - Look at the fact that were plenty of people over at Benz forums talking about buying the Buick over that POS. Realize that the Verano was constantly cited as the reason why the heads of Benz decided to bring the CLA tothe U.S. in the first place.. because when the Verano showed them that a compact FWD car could sell 42K+ each year.. they figured why not. Plenty of writers spoke of this in 2013 when the "Ugly lil Kraut Bitch" showed upon our shores. The new Enclave vs the GLS.. U win on a few points but not all. The New Enclave as a luxury vehicle is quite a nice CUV. Granted the GLS has a more potent engine.. the larger picture shows that GM has the Denali on the same lot/sales channel and the Cadillac's Escalade to really deal with that duty if the details are nitpicked. Then.. new ball game. BUICK is a luxury brand in its own right.. but has historically and continues to be a healthy alternative to Cadillac, Benz etc. In fact.. couple in Denali with the Buick.. as they are sold on the same floor, share the same general manager, share the same sales budget.. and one might look at BUICK-GMC DENALI in the same light as Jag-LROVER- 191 replies
