So in your opinion.. what is??? Yeah Benz, BMW, Ferrari, VW, Toyota, and Nissan.. all build a nice. sometimes magnificent V8s.. but really.. great engineering shouldn't only be about how it sounds and such.. but how long it lasts under daily use. Durability being the key thing. Hell.. my 396 is an original build as far as I kno. Yeah.. I've updated the ignition to HEI, replaced the rockers and a few valve springs.. but it cost me in total about $500.. and on an engine that is 52 years old. The OHV stigma... for some reason despite the engine's contemporary configuration, superior HP and fuel efficiency and low maintenance... GM still allows peoples idiotic perceptions... caused by even more idiotic Media, to influence their use of this engine company wide as the V8 of choice. They have successfully incorporated Direct-Injection as well as AFM in the OHV design, which is neither low tech or old tech. We currently have these well known OHV engines on the market... and if U are lucky, u have driven at least one car that they show up in and can agree or disagree with what I'm saying: 5.3L 355HP/385 lbs AFM 6.0L 361HP/385 lbs AFM 6.2L 415HP/460lbs 6.2L 420HP/465 lbs 6.2L 460HP/465 lbs 6.2LS/C 650-HP/650 lbs 7.0L 505HP/470 lbs 6.2LS/C 755HP/715lbs S/C I won't even get into the easy and cost effectiveness of investing just a few hundred dollars to make them even more powerful vs the tuning one of the Germans or Japanese This full range of V8 engines which have been mainstays on Wards "Best Engines" for years in their previous and current configs. should be held up in HIGH REGARD with in GM, and in the automotive community as a whole. The only other maker that matches GM's V8s in terms of power and durability is Mercedes Benz. I always liken it to the fact that both makers have been around for almost the same amount of time, and operated in every single country on the planet as the other... Giving both a diversity in Engineering that seemingly is only rivaled by each other. One thing that Mercedes doesn't do in a comparison between the two... is match GM's efficiency... These OHV engines in some cases are as efficient as many other makers's V6s. Imagine a Chevy Tahoe weighing 1000 lbs more than a Honda Pilot... getting almost identical F/E as that Pilot while touting about 60 more HP. My RANT has been for several years that GM hold fast to there great creation... Drop it into their FULL LINE... from Chevy to Cadillac. The gripe once was that OHV engines were not as quiet and smooth as a OHC... perhaps 15... perhaps even 10 years ago... but not today. I challenge ANYONE of U to go out and test drive a 550i... then go test a lowly Chevy SS... I will guarantee that U will not notice much of a difference in driving dynamics, specifically in the engine. The one thing U might notice and gripe about... is that the V8 growl is in absent in the car that it should be... and present in the one it shouldn't...

Keep hoping and thinking that there is more to all this DOHC TT Turbo V8 shit than just giving it exclusively to Corvette. That this will be leveraged to Cadillac for a better ROI
-
While I agree. U can't hold Cadillac responsible for aftermarket stuff that customer want. Same thing goes on Range Rover. That thing that Infiniti puts out is a whole nother kind of Stock monstrosity
-
Pretty confident y'all kno my answer on which I'd take
-
Sometimes.. that's what proper marketing is for. There is nothing about the XTS that is superior to the CT6. Nothing except that it has a more powerful Turbo V6 in the Vsport
-
I get what he's saying tho.. and actually agree. The CT6 should not have been considered a "larger, roomier EClass" while the CTS and XTS were around. The engine line-up really was a clear determinate of that.. not to mention the entry price. The CT6, for what its worth.. is dropping that 2.0L for a reason. From what I get from two dealers is that the 2.0L is not even ordered unless someone brings a deposit for one. The only advantage it has is RWD only.. which is not really an advantage when one can get the rest of the line as AWD IMO.. the 3.0L should have been the sole engine till the V8 arrived or the entry engine while an LT1 at 500HP or LT4 at 600 was an optional VSport or VSeries. It gives more credit to the car.. to have higher performing variants even if they are selling slower . (Keep in mind that 10% of all CTS sales were VSeries in 2016.. yet still that allowed them to sell more than the M5, E63AMG or RS7)
-
I agree with the timing thing but in truth.. the Infiniti compact is more of a tweener.. ironically pulling a page from Cadillac's book when the introduced the successful first and second gen CTS. The ATS again.. should have taken the CTS moniker.. and been a few inches larger in the interior to accommodate FAT ASS Americans. The CTS??? Should have been STS. Simple as that. Those calling for names have to realize that the company is now Global.. and Globally there is an idea that names are not desirable or always viable for luxury car brands. I disagree. I think if the effort is put into coming up with proper names there will be no issue. Going back to previous names would be a mistake tho. It rings old. Names LIKE.. El Miraj, Ciel, Cien, Provoq, Solitaire.. would be a strong marketing component. In fact.. I take back my comment about previous names.. as I would grab Catera and put it on a entry car no issue.
-
Like the CTS2 being simultaneously offered as a COUPE only along with the current gen CTS3.. I expect what they are saying is that the ATS Coupe will be offered as a stand alone option while the CT3/4 will be the Sedan/Hatch car

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Unveils the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado
Cmicasa the Great replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
That truck is on point. GMC one is gonna rock it.. and I'm seriously interested in what kinda spawn will come from them in the form of Escalade, Yukon, and Tahoe -
Always thought she was average.../ First time I saw her in "Not another Teen Movie" I thought.. "why is she the chick that everyone stops to look at when Jaime Pressly is on the scene?" 1999 now Interesting enuff.. I would swear Jaime and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn; Wolf of Wall Street) were sisters

Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Lamborghini
Actually Smk I agree to a degree.. I just don't think Caddy has the need to go the RWD only route. I think that their CUV roll-out should have started a year before the XT5 debuted. I think that U are correct.. the XT5 should have been a CTS sister with similar length along with an XT3 having similar length to the ATS-L. They both would come in EXACT same configs, engine wise, as the two aforementioned sister cars. But that would be it.. The XT4 and XT6 would be FWD based vehicles.. one sized exactly like the current XT5 and the XT7 a FWD based Enclave upgrade. The Escalade.. would be essentially the XT7 available in a VSport with 150 more HP. This would cover the gambit.. satisfying both enthusiasts like me and regular luxo CUV buyers like my GF or mom. -

And they would sell like hotcakes -
I agree. I love my CTS-V but the more I drive it the more risk I run of seriously taking it to its limits on public roads. The car is so fuckin spectacular it isn't even funny. That being said.. I am actually holding off on a vehicle purchase of the CT6.. because it is promised that a V8 version is coming. I am willing to give up some HP, but not 240HP if I were to simply buy a CT6 3.0L TT. I would easily trade to the CT6 Platinum VSport with a 500HP(+) V8

2019 Lamborghini Urus Finally Debuts
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Lamborghini
I'll say that GMC doesn't need PERFORMANCE like that.. their tuning in terms of performance should be what we are seeing from ZR2 (previously Hummer H3type) with Off-Road prowess. What Ford did with the Raptor is really unnecessary for GM because they have a dedicated SUV/Truck division. Chevy should really stick to what its doing. Their portfolio is really perfect with exception to the Impala and SS not being MERGED into one vehicle on OMEGA or Alpha L. In terms of SUV/CUV/TRUCK they are on point. I say it again.. as a RATIONAL Corvette enthusiast.. Corvette should be a DIVISION on its own when the Mid-Engine comes out. It is going to be sold next to the C7 Stingray, Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1.. and in ME form come in a Turbo V6.. Turbo V8.. and Supercharged V8 apparently. WTF not include a RWD based SUV/CUV in that mix? Cadillac and Buick (Cadillac's Lasalle) should almost be a mirror image of Chevy IMO with exception to the Pick-Ups , but all of their car and SUV/CUV configs. FUCK what brand snobs say about platform sharing. VW Group does it and just hides it thru bullshit. VW Jetta, essentially the Cruze competitor, is used at VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda. FROM 2015 I have posed this question before to hard core enthusiasts and most always say no.. because of tradition. My thought is that the Corvette is now essentially in Porsche territory in terms of quality, fit and finish.. and obviously performance and tech. Many non-enthusiasts don't even kno that the Corvette is a Chevy. I shit; U not. Most people I talk to who are not enthusiasts think the Corvette is a.. Corvette. They kno the cost is not cheap.. and in reality Chevy is the "every man" brand of GM. It is on par in terms of perceptional with Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. My thought is screw tradition. It holds the brand back: 1) Porsche is no longer "traditional." The 911 is not the volume car at Porsche.. it is their Flagship. The Corvette is, in many ways, on level with Porsche's Cayman/Boxster to 911s. It should enjoy the autonomy. 2) The fastest car at GM should be the CORVETTE.. the Corvette just shouldn't be a Chevy. The Corvette should be sold thru Cadillac dealers so that its service level will be up to par with its price. As it stands... Chevy dealers do not have the level of service amenities or coddling that is necessary to handle the buyer of a $60-130K sports car. Cadillac does. But as a bone for Traditionalist.. keep the Vette at Chevy, but separate it within the dealership experience. 3) The Camaro almost makes the Corvette redundant as a sports car at Chevy. The Camaro is on level with the Mustang. It could be a viable Flagship for Chevy at this point especially with the Camaro stretching out all the way to $80,000 for a Z28. Its performance is undeniable. It is no longer the go to for tack heads with mullets or guidos with gold chains. The Camaro is down right "Premium" in its own right 4) A revisit to the profitability of a Corvette Brand. The Corvette division is something I've been talking about for years though.. It has occurred to me that Chevy, and possibly GM really are pushing for the Camaro to be the Halo car for Chevy these days. If so... is the Corvette finally gonna get the autonomy it deserves as a separate brand, just sold in Chevy, or better yet.. Cadillac dealers? Quite frankly I believe that GM would make very large profits with a Corvette Specific brand in the same vane as Porsche's 911 and Cayenne: a) Stingray $55K-75K (Base Model 460HP) b) Grand Sport $65K-85K (Upgrade with 550HP) c) Z06 $85-105K (650HP) d) ZR1 $110K-150K Mid-Engined (720HP) e) a yes an ALPHA based Coupe CROSSOVER with a 320HP V6, a 450HP LT1, and a S/C 580HP LT1 as well. All of this would continue to be sold at a CHEVY dealership in a separate (even if by partitioned wall) part of Dealership with specific/exclusive sales reps and technicians, again better yet would be the Cadillac Dealers being able to Cadillac would get the a pick 3 of those vehicles. a) CT7 (based off Stingray) would be a 2seater coupe with a 300HP 2.0LTurbo, optioned with a 440HP TTV6 for the Vseries (vs SLK) b) CT9 (based off Z06 and GS) 2seater with 460HP base, and VSport 580HP with optional "Check the Box" V-series at 650HP c)Cien (CT11) (it along with the Escalade would be the only non Alphanumeric) It would be completely based off mid-engine ZORA and would come out before it. 720HP for coupe and a Roadster at 730HP GM would have a viable competitor in these two divisions to both Porsche and Benz/Audi in almost all categories. Its time and they need to act once the Z06 is in place for the Corvette and the CT9 in place for Cadillac. Properly engineered and leveraged they could use these two brands to usurp the profit reigns from both Toyota and VW.. using the VW strategy as Audi and Porsche are where its actual profits come from (Toyota's profits actually come from, and I'm not BS-ing here, leveraging older platforms under new skins with very little upgrades in terms of engines. (See Camry and Corolla). With Cadillac and a Corvette "semi"division within Chevy, along with GMC and Buick, which are extremely profitable, GM could be what it once was in the pre-90s as far as profits. Cadillac should have a version of the Corvette, perhaps augmented to be a mid-engine car like the ZORA is rumored to be. It is my opinion that Corvette.. as long as it is directly under Chevy's dealership network should not in anyway get a version of the proposed possible ZORA. One thing I will give VW is that THEY KNOW HOW TO USE THE FUCK OUTTA A PLATFORM. Bravo on this vehicle.. If this were a Cadillac there would be no complaints. Seriously.. this is exactly what the XT7 should be.. even if less in cost. This performance specs aren't that spectacular tho for a Lambo considering the less aero Porsche Cayenne Turbo's capabilities -
Actually its not paint so much as a wrap.. and that is not necessarily what they are talking about.. they are taking more in line with Mules that have leather/pleather/vinyl cladding in teh the earlier stages.. I am betting that the wraps continue but the actual cladding is now going to be abandoned sooner

Tesla Has Been Burning Through $8,000 Per Minute

Yeah.. I feel the same.. even the name, if I think about it, really may not be worth that much in terms of EV buyers if GM brings out the right Boltech type products.- 24 replies

Zero reason to establish a whole new topic.. so: DID CHEVY JUST PUT OUT A 755HP ZR1 Corvette that gets the same fuel economy as the 650HP Z06? Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 755 @ 6300 rpm (SAE certified) Torque (lb.-ft. @ rpm): 715 @ 4400 rpm (SAE certified) Manual Automatic City 15 MPG 13 MPG Highway 22 MPG 23 MPG

Tesla Has Been Burning Through $8,000 Per Minute
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Tesla
We can argue about the situation to we are blue in the face.. fact is Tesla is not, has not been profitable.. and doesn't seem to be getting any richer in the near future, especially considering margins. WTF.. WTF!!! does anyone think that a company selling 63K Global $70-100K cars and is still broke, in the red.. no where near BLACK.. is gonna instantly become profitable selling a $35-45K car using essentially the same tech, same materials.. just smaller? And don't get it twisted.. I have long said that even the Model S fails at being luxury in interior quality and materials... more on par with +$35K Chevy than any current Cadillac. TESLA NEED TO BE BOUGHT AND ENGULFED IN A LARGER OEM. That OEM gets the name.. which is ironically richly established.. and hopefully some of Musk's vision.. cause he is definitely a visionary. Can't take that from him. I would like GM to get just so they could have the Charging network.. while at the same time I wonder if they need any of the other tech because from what I've heard 2018-19 might just be a year where GM's EV tech surpasses anything that Tesla has out or coming.- 24 replies

Personally I'd go SRX. I just prefer Cadillac over everything else except Corvette.

This is crazy.. Tesla, if they can pull it off, not to mention the Model 3.. could seriously be ushering a complete need for other OEMs to up the ante in relation to Electrification. My hope and dream is that Cadillac jumps in with an all electric sports coupe that blows this away

Perhaps not a trailer but I see people hauling their boats all the tie with Escalade and Denali. Maybe because where U are from U guys don't have access to the BIG OCEANS.
