  1. Still dazed and confused at they reasons why the ignition switch thing ever occurred. It was proven that the inclusion of billions of keys and a bunch of bullsh!t on the the key ring was what led to the issue.. I guess in truth GM should have tested their ignition switches to a point that the device could have held the weight of an 3 month old before they released the vehicles. But that's pretty much a moot point.. as they fixed the issue a decade ago and went a step further in equipping a great deal of their line-up with key-less ignition.. GO FAP ? on that. Preferably with the door locked and a box of Kleenex ready and waiting
  2. On this we finally disagree. I think GM is doing everything to be different than Pre-BK GM. Profit is necessary. They need to be as profitable as Toyota. Think about that tho. They have been pulling in profits on par with Toyota or better lately.. while still offering a super car beater CAMARO, CORVETTE, CTS-V, ATS-V.. also XTS-VSport.. Regal GS... Toyota's most performance oriented car is the Lexus LC and RC.. and really??? They are weak IMO GM indulged a few projects that were absolutely money losers from the start. One that comes to mind is this. This concept and the production were almost spot on.. but it should have never been anything other than a concept. (Below) Even the Sixteen.. as much as I wanted them to build it.. was unrealistic for the time unless GM was focused on revamping the divisions to a point that Cadillac was a boutique brand like Rolls. To anyone.. Mercedes even currently as the top Luxo maker cannot pull off selling a $400K luxo car in decent quantities without calling it something else like Pullman or Maybach. Cadillac would have had to buy the rights to Dusenburg or something because no way that car would have been a viable answer to what would eventually be answered as a CT6-V. Again.. hoping they don't kill it.. because in reality... in Platinum form the Cadillac CT6 3.0LTT spot on competition for the S 450 4matic is a CT6 V-Sport.. is the spot on competition for the S 560 4matic is a CT6 V is the spot on competition for the S63 The Ciel Convertible, El Miraj Coupe, and Escala Sedan are all realistic vehicles that have things that are or could easily be incorporated in a CT6 (or CT8) vehicle
  3. Not necessarily. The Buick Regal is as much a Malibu as it is an Insignia. Not to mention.. its on a GM platform designed with GM engineering
  4. The world will be up in arms about this.. but of course forget that Acura did the same thing back in '15 due to issues with their engine in the NSX... Word is that a real possible reason is that they are implementing an Electric AWD system to the fronts.. not to mention a Hybrid system.. and this might be the reason for the hold up.
  5. Right.. but that makes my point. I find very little about Honda that appeals to me. So paying more for different styling makes no sense. With Chevy vs Buick at least.. I am buying domestic.. I am buying Buick heritage.. which exists.. and was prevalent before the Domestic haters attached the Blue Hair mantra on it as an actual characteristic. , plus I get upgraded interiors, quiet tuning, and more luxo styling. Even in terms of performance.. what does Honda really have in terms of consumer products? The Civic Si and Type R? Buick? Was a creator of the Muscle Car era with the Riviera GS, Buick GSX, GNX, Grand National, and T-Type. Not to mention the current GS, which is a damn nice performer and even with the engine it has performs as well as many an Audi. Acura??? I just never saw them as anything other than a Honda. And seriously.. when people say that the Corvette can't command prices above $120K.. I point to the HONDA EMBLEM (Europe/Asia) on the NSX and say WHY?
  6. Its weird right? I have no clue what the sales of these vehicles outside of the U.S. are.. or if they exists since at one time Acura was a U.S/Cana. brand only. Perhaps they see profits based on the fact that most Acuras are revised styling exercises on Honda cars and SUVs with standard AWD. I have only one time, other than the NSX, felt that Acura was special.. and that was the original LEGEND COUPE. That's it.
  7. Cadillac seeming lost that comparo because it was noticeably smaller than the RDX. Either way.. The idea that all cars should be killed or forgotten is ridiculous.. and for once I'm siding with the Japanese on this. Ford, more so than GM.. as GM still has cars just cutting out the CT6 , Impala and its sisters, and the Cruze and Volt. Truthfully if they just keep thhe CT6 and Impala I wouldn't have a problem. The Malibu/Regal, along with a Sonic redesign can easily take the sales from the death of the Cruze, LaX, while the Volt's sales can be sopped up by the Bolt.. which I could see getting a boost in range soon. Anyway.. with the STOP of the death of the CT6.. Cadillac would have the same core cars that Acura has.. small medium and large
  8. I hear what @Drew Dowdell and @Robert Hall are saying and I don't completely agree even tho they may actually be right. What I'm saying is that the GM Brass have ample configs to call the Corvette line a division.. or sub-division. Also.. why are a convertible and hardtop being included as a model. To me the 5Series and the 6Series are models.. but the 6series and the 6Series GC or Convertible are not models, but variants
  9. It was 4 Brands.. Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, and Saturn.. due to overlap. Each, having no real distinct differences from certain other brands within the portfolio.. I was completely happy with this. The Pontiac brand was pretty much spot on with Chevy, with the exception of not having trucks. Hence.. the G8 becoming the SS for instance. The Saturn brand was almost spot on with Buick.. thus the Opel connection going to Buick after the death of Saturn. Saab too for that matter. The only one that I had an issue with being closed was Hummer.. but even before 2009 I constantly said that he Hummer brand should not be independent.. and be a GMC Trim like Denali.
  10. Look slim.. I'm American unlike U and still know Porsche's history due to racing.. but I don't sip the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier flavored water the way U do.. Your rational... as I have explained.. the Corvette sub-division CURRENTLY has 4 distinct Corvettes under its umbrella. The Stingray, which has trims as well, different engine and transmission tuning, and price point. The GS.. also different trims, same engine, but distinct body and suspension tuning, and price point. The Z06.. different trims, different racing apparatus, different drivetrains, suspension tuning, unique body, and and price point. And the ZR1.. different trims, different racing apparatus, different drivetrains, suspension tuning, unique body, and and price point. Chevy doesn't say it.. but that my young knabe.. is a BRANDED vehicle. Not to mention that many people who are not enthusiasts think that CORVETTE is an independent vehicle similar to Porsche and Ferrari. THIS IS FACT. If Chevy were to continue with the FE Corvette, while still offering the ME design.. its a done deal.. and we will have a genuine 4th American GM Division. I also point out that for all intents.... the Camaro has been primed to take over the head job at Chevy since the C5 debuted in 2010
  11. So by that U are saying that before the Cayenne.. Porsche was NOT a brand. hmmmm END OF DISCUSSION.. Go back to Germany KrautBoy
  12. Corvette, over the last 10 years, has had as many models as Porsche ever did in the pre-Cayenne days. REGARDLESS... we have a Stingray, GS, Z06, and ZR1 currently.. this MID-Engine will essentially give us 4 different body styles.. as the only two body styles currently identical are the GS and Z06. So why not make it a Sub-Brand somewhat autonomous?
  13. Said it before and I'll say it again.. having both of these brands.. er.. all three.. U see the differences. Cadillac dealer is all accommodating.. Chevy dealer is not. Only when I go in with a $60-$100K Corvette do they roll out Orange carpet. That is inconsistent with the fact that one can now purchase $80K Camaros and Tahoe/Suburbans/Silverados from the place.. but hey.. Chevy is the Every man brand at GM the same as Ford, Toyota, Honda are. Again.. the Corvette should be a separate brand in a partitioned off dealership spot at Chevy or CADILLAC if enthusiasts aren't allowed to make the decision. If Enthusiasts have to have Corvette at Chevy.. then partition it off.. and treat them with the same love one gets at Cadillac. Corvettes are not cheap. They are a vehicle selling for $60K to a soon to be $150K. This is about $5-7K less than your Porsche line-up unless U get into the E-Hybrid models.. Which GM should be gearing up to do. People want to say that "No one will spend $150K on a Vette..." FUUCK outta here. They can and THEY WILL. I have to constantly remind people.. some of my colleagues have Porsches. Its THEIR ONLY car, even the 911 and the Cayman/Boxster owners. Some might have a beater that is 10 years old. Vette owners very seldom have just a Vette as their DD. Most that I know also own a Silverado/Sierra, Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade or something else as a daily. Normally they are no more than 5 years old if that. I don't even drive my Vette or V in the rain or when it looks like its gonna rain cause I don't want to get it dirty. Many who own a Vette as a toy have the same mind set. Meaning.. THEY HAVE MONEY. They needed to be catered to just like the cats at Caddy.. which ironically sells at the same price point as CORVETTE. My Z06 retailed for the exact same as my CTS-V. Bet good money that the CT6-V comes in priced like a ZR1, which will still be less expensive than a B7 Alpina by about $17K
  14. So exchange Sixteen for Escala. Damn!!! Makes too much sense.
  15. Does alphanumeric naming actually evoke images of luxury more so than actual names? It is a questioned I've pondered since Cadillac brought forth the G1 CTS. The issue, I think with names, stemmed from Cadillacs, Acuras, and Lincoln wishing to appeal to the luxo buying crowd by emulating the Europeans. In addition, the idea was to have focus laid squarely on the Brand name and not the car. To say "I drive a BMW," even if was a 3 series, ends up giving a bolster to the entire brand. Saying "I drive a Seville," in the modern age of 50 different brands, took focus off the Cadillac brand. Of course an argument could be made that having individual names serves as a bolster to the overall substance of the car group because it gives them individualism that could in turn served to elevate the brand, and the owner of each car to a more exclusive feel of not just having a "number and letter" combination. With Cadillac there is no real consistency with the naming scheme anyway. Why not go back to names? Some will argue for the classic names like Deville, and Fleetwood. The Classics are only classics to those who fancy themselves Enthusiasts. The buying public might see the name Fleetwood to be to reminiscent of Grand-dad or granny. I digress. what luxury brand actually have Names and not alphanumeric other than Bentley and Rolls? I could see Cadillac pulling off a helluva revolution with that one gesture. If anything it shows great deal of creativity creating a car around the euphoria of a name. Hell... You can't be a guy name Duke, and not be tough. You can't be a girl named Alexis, and not be sexy. You damn sure can't be a car named "Ciel", and not be elegant In truth the only one that would be difficult would be the CTS due to it being very established. If GM get the word out to the Media, perhaps going so far as to ask them their opinions on record, they could circumvent any of the usual smartass comments magazine writers come up with in their commentaries. ####################################### With billions on Advertising.. GM just focus that money for one year on INFORMATION only ads. I mean literally having ads that are brand based that literally inform the customer. Straight to the dome. I'm talking about taking a film crew into the engineer, design, and marketing rooms... fly on the wall of what U are offering, but without, obviously, giving away secret sauce. My commercial would open "MTV style," 5th Symphony "DEM DEM DEM DOOOOM" with marketing guys talking in a conference room, Cadillac logo HUGE on the wall..: This is the new Cadillac Solitaire. We used to call it ATS, but following, not leading, led us down a stark, Teutonic mishmash of alphabet soup. Teutonic? Cadillac is CADILLAC. AMERICAN. Americans have names.. 2) Next cut to engineering: We wanted a car that could corner like on rails, do 0-60 sprints like a bat out of hell, had an uncompromising ride that didn't jar U back into the days of stone wheels on a Yaba-Daba-Doo mobile. Fuel efficient, and laden with technology. (Each time the narrator says something, the camera pans to the car doing just that.. whether a quick maneuver on the track, a sprint, a serine ride up the cost, and then a quick view of CUE.) 3) Next cut to Design... etc "At the end we got the AT... er... Solitaire.." narrator clears throat and laughs slightly.
  16. Thank U. My GF keeps telling me.. "Its too bad U didn't take that Johan guy's place." I tell her.. the only way I'd do it is if I had full run of the brand, with that $12Billion Budget and Tadge and Al Oppenheiser would be at my beck and call. I'd hire the designers from Hermes' for interior, but also I'd have Timberland on call for all the trucks.. Call Ed Welburn back outta retirement.. Bob Lutz would be an advisor.. and that move back to Detroit would be nixed.. back to NYC. The addition of names would be substituted for those letters.: Scrap the BS Letters. Fuc k the European naming scheme. CT3 = Converj CT3 Coupe with optional Convertible=Solitaire CT5= Imaj CT5 Coupe with optional Convertible= Evoq CT6 with optional 4dr Convertible= Ciel CT8= Sixteen Mid-Engine= Cien XT4= Agile XT5-Provoq XT6= Vizon Escalade Everything has EV model, utilizing that Engine set up from the EV Camaro and I've never seen this before.. its a Caddy Concept from '09 Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept
  17. Cadillac's American IG account is pretty tho. The problem with Cadillac is their TV spots. The almost non-existent ones. They need to be on every Football game for CT6, CTS, and Escalade.. if that C8 we keep seeing has a Cadillac twin.. Football game premiere.. Every talk show spot and Power, and Empire episode.. XT5, XT4, and ATS Coupe
  18. Of course. Since the announcement I've been seeing more and more of them. Its kind of weird. Point blank they really need to rethink a lot of their decisions pertaining to closing certain plants.. and killing certain vehicles. This and the Impala should be saved. The Impala utilizing the Omega platform, slightly smaller (or Alpha-L), and with less power and amenities. In line completely with the Charger as a better alternative to that old bones vehicle. Complete with an LT4 powered SS-R to kick the HellCat's ass
  19. What a pretty fantastic review of this car from AUTOMOBILE MAG.. essentially saying that a CT6 Platinum would be an S-Class if not for CUE.. which I personally didn't have an issue with, but I also didn't look for any radio stations because I keep my own playlists on a 32GB flash drive and CT6-V look over at LA Autoshow. CADILLAC U ARE AN IDIOT FOR KILLING THIS CAR
  20. GM, for it's GM Rear Camera Mirror, were awarded 10 patents – one for the streaming video mirror and nine for video processing. The patents cover innovations in the wide field of view camera image calibration, de-warping, glare reduction and camera hardware design. If Toyota has it in the Rav4.. they are paying for the tech from GM Jalopnik And JEeEZ.. I can't believe that anyone would become a GM hater because it decided to delve deeper into EV tech. U act as if they have stopped selling ICE vehicles already. Hell.. I'm ready to buy a CT6-V when it comes out and not as livid as U are
  21. Unfortunately that is the perception that some still have about Cadillac.. before they see them hit corners at .99gs
  22. So much truth to this. Night vision is a GM thing.. They abandoned it due to lack of interest.. Then the Germans started using it.. possibly having to license it from GM if I remember correctly.. and now GM is back into it. Remember auto dimming High Beams?? GM.. back in the 50s. Always wondered why in my 80s and 90s cars they were not avail.. GM killed them.. then brought them back. Automatic Transmission, Onstar, Air Bags, Electric Starter, Catalytic Converter, Heads Up Display, Turning Headlights... the list is forever. THEY SUCK AT MARKETING THO.. and in those cases I bet that it was lawyers that told them not to trumpet their involvement in it in case any of those inventions went busto. I think that GM is the first to create and use the REARVIEW CAMERA feature (pictured below from my CT6 review).. bet good money it becomes a trend. Although with Mary as CEO it will probably stay.. as she is an engineer by origin. Oh.. and the VOLT. First range extended vehicle for an EV.
