Dodge News: 2015 Dodge Charger Gets The Hellcat
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
The SS with the LSA might be enough. I mean what I just said too. In truth these are bragging rights for Mopar most definitely, but I still find it hard to believe that it will truly put a hurtin on a current gen Camaro ZL1 let alone a new Alpha based one. The 662-horsepower GT500 hits 60 mph in 3.5 seconds to the 580-horsepower ZL1's 3.8 seconds, 11.6 seconds @125.7 mph, trailed by the Camaro at 12.1 seconds @ 117.4... The Challenger HC that the very same magazine, MT, tested came in slower than both. While the Top speed, dictated by that 707hp is the only real advantage.. when the hell are U ever gonna find out? What's the point in a "top speedster" in a drag race? This Dodge is no TRACK star =/ The only reason I would ever even THINK THAT.. would be if I had a disdain for 2 door vehicles. The Challenger, RT and above, behind the ANY Camaro, is gorgeous- 17 replies

Dodge News: 2015 Dodge Charger Gets The Hellcat
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
The whole CAFE thing is pathetic and yet as you point out, the 500 and Dart are not lowering low Mileage footprint fast enough so I think this could be the last Hurrah for a big strong V8. Wee Dodge has done one thing... and that is take the bragging rights of BIG HP away from the luxo and exotics. The Corvette's 650HP didn't count, because quite frankly the idea of the Vette being a "Chevy" is laughable. My guess is that GM and Ford will most likely stay in the 600 range because of their other assets that attract buyers to their brands. GM, for instance, has some of the best handling vehicles on the market these days, not just from Cadillac and Corvette, but at Chevy and Buick as well. I maintain that a Chevy SS with just 600HP would most likely still beat a 707HP Charger- 17 replies

While Dodge is pushing the envelope with a HP leading 707HP, as a CTS-V owner I would not in the least feel humbled if I got into a tussle with one of these. I'm driving a Cadillac. Even if I were in a Chevy SS I still feel like I would be a weee bit more "high class" than if I were rolling in a Dodge. The question that I have.. is at what point is Fiat/Chrysler gonna start conforming to meet CAFE demands? IT would be one thing if they sold an EV or hybrid, but the 500s and Darts just aren't lowering their footprint fast enough.- 17 replies

Rumorpile: Cadillac LTS To Debut At New York: Comments
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
1) America exists in and of itself...and we are self destructive, allowing false perceptions and antiquated beliefs lead us killing our entire industrial capacity if it meant saving a foreign one. 2) The Toyota Camry outsells all other cars in it's class by a margin of 3:1. Being #1 only means that there are more POSs Camrys on the road in my effin way- 68 replies

Rumorpile: Cadillac LTS To Debut At New York: Comments
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
While I will certainly give the current S-class it's props for being the leader in the class among the other two Germans, the LS460 (which I see more of an XTS VSport competitor despite RWD) and the XJ.. there is no way one can come out the gate and say that the Cadillac group has already failed.. JUST BECAUSE. The CTS out and out is a better car than the 5series and EClass. The ATS is a better car than the 3series and C-Class.. but of course the rules will probably be changed after the LTS debuts so that the autorags can give naysayers their desired verdict. Much like they did when the ATS debuted, stellar, and essentially unbeatable, and suddenly having a larger back seat was thrown in as the metric by which Lux-Sport compacts were judged. Game rigged??? Only because Americans allow their self loathing to always find a way to love something about the competition even when it was a moot point before. I think you greatly over rate the S class. Its a great car, but it is NOT the second coming the way some who in many cases never even drove one try to make it.- 68 replies

Simply not true. My CTS-V Coupe cost lil over $75K and I didn't flinch once when writing the check. The current CTS-Vsport and XTS-VSport both can reach $75K and I see plenty of them. U are most likely saying that because of the screwed launch of the ELR... a VIRTUAL two seater compact car that, while sporting one of the most technological drivelines on the planet, should have simply been priced $15k less due to packaging. I maintain that if the ELR had of been simply done in a package the size of the CTS or XTS it could have commanded and got +$20K on top of the current price no problem. Unless its a sports car or hi-Performance variant (M3, C63AMG, ATS-V), the market very seldom is gonna buy a car that small for over $60K
-
^^^ I just don't have an issue with it.. unless they decided to actually create a hi-po VSport model that had a performance shifting characteristic. Other than that, I see little need for a floor mounted shifter and never thought much of the button or knob way of shifting one way or another.

I agree with several of these suggested names. I have to wonder why Cadillac needs ELEVEN models, when six or seven will do just fine. Sadly because critics will constantly call Cadillac a failed luxury brand unless it keeps up with the numbers its competitors generate. There is no way in the world that a logical person would suggest that the ATS, selling in SEDAN ONLY, should be selling in numbers that the 3series or C-Class lines are with a Sedan, Coupe, Convertible, Diesel, and Wagons. Its stupid, and even GM is doing it. I heard first hand a Cadillac exec saying that they were disappointed in ATS sales not being at least 70% of 3/4series sales. AS IF THE 3/4 Series is only selling one damn variant. I love Cadillac. I love the ATS. If I wanted an ATS sized Convertible.. hell a Coupe... I'd be S.O.L and on my way over to look at a C-Class Vert or 4series. Why? Because I can't buy an ATS coupe or Convert because they don't make one. They need to quit relying on the hierarchy to fill in the holes. Actually insane to say after my Convertible tirade since the only way U can get a convertible at GM is to buy one of two sports cars/coupes. At one time, U could buy a Cruze equivalent (Cavalier) in a Sedan, Wagon, Coupe, Convertible. Hell U could even buy a Spark equivalent (Geo Metro) in a Convertible. Back on topic. Cadillac needs to get their own budget that allows for a few more CUVs, few more niches. In this regard I wish Cadillac would go the Audi route and act as an almost autonomous marque from the mother GM (or VW). The one positive Cadillac has in this situation is that it's PARTS BIN sharing is coming from a BIN that has some of the best parts in the world. Quite frankly U could take a and unknown, and un-labeled Chevy Corvette, put a "Prancing Horse" on the front and Ferrari would be praised for it's new performance entry. U could take a new Chevy Impala LTZ, un-labeled and unknown.. slap an Acura or even Benz (considering their new foray into FWD) and either company would be praised for their attention to detail. I mean honestly.. the Impala is really just a decontented Cadillac XTS anyway. I like how U think.- 68 replies

I still think that this is the Malibu. Despite it's recent face-lift, which is gorgeous and makes it, IMO, the best looking Mid-Sizer or at least equal to the Optima, the vehicle, is due for a complete makeover as this model was always meant to be a short life. In fact, at one point the 2008-2012 Body was supposed to simply move over to Epsilon II and carry on with a few visual changes to make it look new. They went with the shorter wheelbase when it was decided that the Impala was coming back on the Super-Epsilon platform instead of going ZETA. At least that's was I was told by several GM employees. Essentially instead of the "SS" and Caprice, we were supposed to get a RWD based ZETA Impala and possibly the Caprice, the Malibu essentially sporting the Lacrosse WHEELBASE, the Cruze (hence the Cruze size being slightly larger than most compacts), the Sonic and Volt. The Spark was a compliance vehicle for CAFE, gaining steam after the BEAT was shown.

Sorry about that. I tried to edit but cannot now. Here I rehosted. And I I agree that it is def. worth the coin.

I was on the fence with Fleetwood, but the idea is to move forward.. so I think the Concept names I listed fit the bill better. Obviously I could be wrong, but I truly believe that a Sixteen or Ciel would go over better in the transition. Cadillac recently copyrighted the names CT5 and CT6 so this might be a moot conversation.. and Ellinghaus may just have a better plan. I hope so. These Cadillacs are simply to GREAT to be ignored for what is continuously mediocre German competition. BTW. Drew (Admin) I have been gone from here for a while and my "Rides" have changed. I am unable to edit the sig at this point due to the "22" rule. Can U change it to: 2015 Crystal Red GMC Yukon SLT 4WD 355HP 2014 Blade Silver Corvette Stingray Z51 3LT, 7spd, Tuned to 500HP 2014 Blue Ray Metallic Chevy Impala LTZ 3.6L 305HP 2012 White Diamond Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Auto 556HP- 68 replies

The only classic names I would consider would be the Series 50-70s if Cadillac want gonna go with modern names. The "Villes" and, "Woods" just sound old and bring up to many thoughts of Grandparents driving them. The Series then number should have been the go to naming scheme back in '03 anyway. It could have had a continuity that made sense. Example The entry level would have been Series 30 Mid: Series 50 etc. I mean the if the idea was to emulate BMW.. then pulling from their own past would have been not only sufficient, but ironically.. genuinly taking back what was taken from them in the first place. Missed opportunity now. The other way of fixing a lot of this marketing mess would be to go to names. All marketing issues that go along with pricing problems (CTS for instance being the entry level vehicle just 2 years ago, now sporting real mid level pricing) if names were revived negating the inconsistency- 68 replies

Wow.. Just wow. Call me at the end of Summer 2015 and I will have probably traded my '15 Yukon SLT in on THIS with White Diamond and tan interior. That interior looks absolutely stunning.

Cadillac 2015 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Cadillac today announced numerous enhancements to the just-launched 2015 Escalade, including the new range-topping Platinum Collection model launching in the fourth quarter this year. Escalade Platinum features elegant, hand-crafted luxury additions to both the exterior and interior while the entire Escalade range gets new technical features, highlighted by the addition of 4G LTE connectivity, a new 8-speed automatic transmission and a Surround View camera system to help increase visibility. “Since the launch just a few months ago, the next-generation Escalade has proved exceptionally desirable among luxury SUV buyers,” said Uwe Ellinghaus, chief marketing officer, Cadillac. “Now, within the same year we are able to elevate the Escalade line with the Platinum Collection, as well as deliver enhancements through the entire Escalade range.” The 2015 Escalade Platinum extends and upgrades the use of premium materials within the Escalade’s cut and sewn interior. First- and second-row seats are wrapped in Nappa semi-aniline leather, while the dashboard, upper door panels and center console are clad in hand-stitched and hand-wrapped leather. Customers can choose between two distinct interior environments, each paired with sueded microfiber headliner trim and unique exotic wood accents. Escalade Platinum Collection is also designed to provide passengers with unsurpassed comfort and convenience. Heated and cooled 18-way power front seats are standard, and include a massaging function on the driver’s seat. A pair of seven-inch LCD screens, embedded in the front head rests, supplement the overhead 9-inch screen, while a cooled center console compartment can keep chilled beverages handy. Platinum models also include premium floor mats and Platinum-branded door sill plates. Escalade Platinum models ride on 22-inch wheels and the model is distinguished by chrome accents, Platinum exterior badging, and a unique grille mesh design. All Escalade models wear the new, streamlined Cadillac Crest. In addition, all Escalade models – from the standard Collection through to the Platinum – feature a host of technology upgrades. Vehicle performance is aided by the new eight-speed automatic transmission that is standard on all models, as well as a two-speed transfer case standard on four-wheel drive models. An electronic hands-free liftgate already standard on Escalade will also feature hands-free closing capability. Like the new ATS sport sedan, Escalade includes OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity with a WiFi hotspot capable of connecting up to seven devices and inductive wireless device charging. Surround View, which provides a bird’s eye view of the area immediately surrounding the vehicle. The enhancements add just $1275 to Escalade’s starting price in the U.S., for a total of $73,965, including destination. The top-of-the-range 2015 Escalade Platinum is priced from $90,270, including $995 in destination.

GMI is the last place on Earth these days that I'd point to as PRO-Cadillac.. or GM for that matter. I think it is a prereq for not being banned to post negative things abou the company as much as possible. That being said, I agree with your idea of names. This is truly a huge opportunity for Cadillac to TRULY relaunch itself onto the market. Quite frankly they should do a 6 car launch when the Flagship debuts, including the "LTS," Pebble Beach, a surprise BRX and(based off ATS)new SRX to LA, VSeries ATS and CTS Coupe to Detroit , new Escalade Platinum to NY, and a surprise SLX (based off Lambda)to Chicago. In that order Scrap the BS Letters. Screw the European naming scheme. A renaming convention would only bring critism from the most staunch hater, as most enthusiasts and consumers would rejoice in not having to deal with the idiotic German alphabet soup crap names. Might I suggest: ELR=Converj ATS = Solitaire ATS Based CUV= Agile CTS= Imaj CTS based Coupe= Evoq (different in the way the last gen CTS Coupe was from the Sedan) XTS= Ciel (Fleet FWD, Retail AWD Only and Voltec avail driveline) LTS= Sixteen XLR= Cien SRX-Provoq SRL(lambda)= Vizon Escalade BTW Cadillac and BMW for that matter. A car does not need a different name just because its a coupe, unless it is a variation of the sedan. Why? Because the fact that it has only two doors makes it obvious- 68 replies

Choppin' Competition #51 -- Cadillac XTS
Cmicasa the Great replied to Z-06's topic in Choppin' Competitions
This is my favorite... altho I seriously think what Mr. Welburn and co did.. is literally perfect... -
By George I think U've got it. Word is that because of the Cobalt's inventory and transaction price... no to mention the push that Chevy gave it inadvertently, in it's "Let the Best Car Win" ad where it is shown to have better fuel economy than the PERCEIVED fuel economy leader, the Corolla... a lot of buzz is surrounding the Cobalt both in eyes of the public but also back at RenCEN. Truth be told... I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see Cobalt production continue on past the start of the Cruze 6 months out. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cruze name got ditched and the Cobalt one used here in the U.S., which is not unprecedented considering that the established name for Korea's "Cruze" remained Lacetti due to existing name cachet.

Hyundai September 2009 Sales
Cmicasa the Great replied to Justin Bimmer's topic in 2009 Sales Archive
Who said Hyundai was making serious coin... last I checked their Profit last quarter was pretty slim. What many fail to realize is that if theyhad GM, Ford, and Chry's labor contracts before this "situation" they would hardly be pulling in that much. As for them taking a "Chance" on a RWD vehicle: U have to be kidding. Are U telling me that GM doesn't have any RWD vehicles? Because I have 3 RWD vehicles from GM in my garage... and all are award winners and tops in class. Not even including the Tahoe, GM still has the Vette, Camaro, CTS, and STS on sales for 2010. When the STS dies we are getting a replacement that will be, I'm sure, better in having the Haldex XWD system, larger proportions and more luxury. Truth is the Genesis doesn't compare with the CTS even.. it compares more aptly with the G8 V6 and G8 GT or on the luxo side... a 300C.. and even that's a stretch -

Excellent post... This XLR guy doesn't even realize that despite his cheer leading for Hyundai their 35% of 31,511 going to rental means that they really aren't the as successful selling to public as the SPIN would have us believe. GM on the other hand is selling a very strong amount to retail... that means US. PS... Keep getting the info out there. The SHEEP need to be taught -

Cadillac SOLD more XLRs than Lexus sold SC430s... The Effin irony. Yet another reason why the CTS-Coupe should be get a Convertible at the time of release and be named... CLC. Cadillac should then pull it in its sales numbers by calling the CTS, CTC (Coupe), CLC (Convertible), and CTE (Estate) all the : C-Series. -

Damn... I didn't even realize that. The G8 sold 1,005 models and the Camaro sold 7,961... The G8 is DEAD and still sold 63% as many Genesis Coupe and Sedan combined. The Camaro may be new but so is the Genesis... and without the Foreign biased press constantly in GAGA-LAND over what they can't believe Hyundai has done after 23 years of using cheap labor to produce a mediocre product. -

Hyundai September 2009 Sales
Cmicasa the Great replied to Justin Bimmer's topic in 2009 Sales Archive
I agree. The Hyundai cars are not even my radar and a great deal of their current sales increases are as a result to GM and Ford dropping a lot of their Fleet sales to Rental Agencies. LAst I checked Hyundai sold 35% of their vehicles to Rental... The Genesis has two variations under its nameplate and it managed to still sell a small amount.
