  1. A minivan with a V8...I've thought about it, and if it can get good enough fuel economy, I can see GM picking up some sales from other minivan makers. That is, if we don't have another Uplander on our hands...
  2. That was a very eloquent (and composed) response. I know I couldn't have held my tongue if I was responding to that. Bravo, Mr. Harris.
  3. I'm all for Chevy getting a Lambda. The market has the potential to become too big for Chevy not to get a slice of the pie. However, before they can lay their hands on a Lambda SUV, I think the following conditions need to be met first: 1) They get a true homerun in the passenger car market. Something that will cut the Camry's legs out from under it. Something that destroys the Camry in every reliablility, quality, and appeal study. This is where Chevy really needs to be focusing-not on another SUV. 2) They get a truly competitive minivan. The minivans will be based on the Lambdas, so how about instead of a Lambda SUV, why not just a Lambda minivan?Something that blows the Odyssey, Sienna, Sedona, etc. out of the water. and 3) If Chevy does get a Lambda SUV, it should look nothing (or at least vaguely, vaguely similar) like the Saturn, GMC, and Buick. No more badge engineering, please.
  4. Camino, if it makes you feel any better, my week hasn't been very good either. The Sonoma has been leaking oil and some other unknown fluid from the rear. That's fixed now, but the transmission is now making crunching noises when it's put into reverse or drive. It didn't do that before it went to Carmax for fixing the leaks. Plus, finals were this week, so every night has been spent cramming and studying all the material we've covered this year, and on top of that, I still failed my Chemistry final and didn't make a B in geometry by .002% (I got a 79.498%, and it has to be a 79.5% or higher to become a B). And then, on top of that, I almost got hit by some idiot in a Benz who tried to get into the Shell station through the exit I was sitting in waiting for some cars to go by. But, ya know what helps? Some ice cream, a couple of posts here, and a good night's sleep. Hope everything turns out ok!
  5. The grille reminds me of my mom's Venture... I think it needs a little more length after the rear tires-the trunk area looks a little squished to me. But aside from that, I like the overall profile. The interior is awesome, but I hope the car we get doesn't have the window switches on the center console-I can't see many people going for that (myself being one).
  6. not as fun as the front seat
  7. More surprised than sarcastic...
  8. Cadillac's history is full of luxurious, prestigious cars. They never had a history of SUVs, but that hasn't stopped them from selling every Escalade that they build. I think that a brand's history is something for the brand to draw on, to use as inspiration for future products, not as something to hold a brand back. And if a certain car isn't part of a brand's history, it can never become part of it unless it's built and sold.
  9. Ho hum, another Element, again aimed at younger folks. This is the Element Honda should have came out with in the first place-it looks much better than the grey plastic-clad one.
  10. Saw another last-gen M45, this time in black. I can't get over how gorgeous they are. Also saw this really old Fiat that looked like the 500F in Gran Turismo 4, another fleet of sand-colored Camry CEs, a black B-body Impala SS, and a black/dark blue-ish Viper ragtop.
  11. Kids shows (or at least shows aimed at younger demographics) do suck. Ever watch Yu-gi-oh or Dave the Barbarian or Camp Lazlo? All stupid, stupid shows about stupid, stupid things. What ever happened to Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, and Spongebob?
  12. Buickman calls Robert "Objectivity-is-not-my-job" Farago his friend? crazy...
  13. This meeting doesn't seem very productive...is there a point to it?
  14. I don't understand what they mean by "questionable packaging choices." Doesn't the Escalade come in one trim with only a few options?
  15. I think that it's a good thing for GMC to get a crossover-something different from a plain truck, and since the crossover market is growing faster than the traditional SUV market. It also gives GMC a model that could attract people who wouldn't have considered GMC before. Variety is the spice of life, after all. But I do agree, GM needs a competitive minivan.
  16. Here goes the OHV vs. OHC debate again...The 3.8 is a dead-reliable engine, so who really cares (besides CR) how the valvetrain is set up? The Lucerne floats...no kidding! It's no one's M3, nor does it pretend to be. The middle seat in the front bench is not really meant to be occupied for long distances, so why would GM put a 3-point belt there, and even if they wanted to, where would it fit? And regarding the transmission: it shifts. It doesn't drop gears a la Camry did, and CR even says it shifts smoothly. So, why are they complaining? Yes, a 6-speed would be nice, but four gears are plenty to get you where you're going. Sensless nitpicking if you ask me...
  17. Akward social situations suck, I know, but losing a friend sucks even worse. I'd say call it water under the bridge and go about your business as usual.

    ...

At least it makes more sense than the Equinox SS (the HHR has a competitive powertrain). If it does get the DI Turbo, how about calling it the HHR Turbo? I think that sounds better than HHR SS-too many acronyms.
  19. I haven't seen any old people in Fits around here, but there is this one ancient woman driving around in a red riced-out Sienna, complete with large chromed rims, tinted windows, an aftermarket grille, dual rear fart pipes, spoiler, and TRD decals on the front and rear windows.
  20. Do it! I was thinking of leaving a comment myself...
