  1. I don't think anyone here would say that the government is the model for efficient, well-reasoned policies. But the government didn't tell GM to make the bone-headed decisions it's been making for the past few decades. I'm sure they would love to see GM be profitable again, since they can tax profits. And we all know profits are becoming more of a phantom than a reality at GM.
  2. 'Flippy-floppies' and the harmonized 'motherf@#ker's make the song, IMO.
  3. There's also another feature that's related to that ping, at least on my Intrigue and my mom's Venture; I dunno if it's programmable or not, but dad's Sonoma doesn't do it. If you hit "lock" on the central locking with a door open, you'll hear the chime; then shut the door without hitting lock again, and the car locks itself after 5 seconds. I use this pretty much every time I get out of the car, since my keyless entry stopped working.
  4. And similarly, I’m not knocking the Impala; it does what it’s asked without complaint. But I don’t get calling the G8 a rebadge, when its closest relative on the continent is the Camaro. And yes, I could pillage a W-body that met an unfortunate end for the nuts-and-bolts type needs for my car, but GM did the Intrigue’s interior differently enough and produced just enough of the cars themselves to make tracking down parts somewhat difficult, as I found out earlier this week. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one. /hijack
  5. Dude, the Intrigue is unique enough to have parts availability issues. And is the Impala a 'real' Chevrolet? Couldn't one say it's just another rebadge? GM doesn't sell the G8 as anything else on this continent, but I could go to my local Chevrolet/BPG dealer and find substantially the same car wearing 3 different badges on the same lot. Re: Chinese-built GMs: meh, I wouldn't mind seeing the Park Avenue coming over.
  6. I see a lot of Malibu from the A-pillar forwards.
  7. This was quite good, Camino. Color me impressed. IMO, you don't really need to extend it. I think it stands just fine as-is, but go for it if you want.
  8. Guilty. It's useful for organizing events and keeping up with people who went across the country for school. I do agree with the sentiment that the new homepage layout is pretty bad. I don't really want to see everything my friends do, especially those asinine "what ice cream flavor are you?"-type quizzes or their top 5 Skittles flavors.
  9. Let's hope it won't catch on fire because of an oil leak.
  10. Probably the 3.7L V6 as well. This sounds like quite the engine!
  11. I'd only change two things: round the bottom of the wheel arches just a little, and move the taillights down the hatch a little bit. Otherwise, I really like it and probably would buy one over the Equinox and Vue, were I in the market.
  12. Frankly, I don't see how you could pass this one up: Clicky
  13. I'd like to have my windows tinted just enough to help keep the cabin cooler during the summer. That, and shine the exhaust tips up, since they've been looking dull lately.
  14. Buying a car out-of-state isn't all that different from buying one in-state. When I bought my Oldsmobile, I bought it from a Pennsylvania dealer, and the dealer sold if to me as if I were a PA resident. I had to pay certain PA-specific taxes (IIRC, one of them was a BS $65 "tire tax"), they gave me a PA title, a PA temporary registration, and put a PA temporary tag on the car. The length of time a temp tag is good for varies between states; PA temps are good for 30 days, whereas I know Maryland and Virginia temps are good for 60 days. After you bring it back to your home state, you have to bring the bill of sale, temporary registration, and the out-of-state title to your local MVA/DMV/RMV/whatever department in your state that deals with motor vehicles. There, they will look at the out-of-state title, and issue you a new PA title; they may charge you a retitling fee for this. After that, you show them proof of insurance, pay the state sales tax on the car, and they'll issue you a new set of tags.
  15. A silver Audi Q5. I wasn't aware these existed.
  16. I sure hope the production 300 has a driver's side mirror. The Grand Cherokee looks really nice, and based on profile alone, I like that rendering of the next Durango much better than the current one.
  17. I'd never do that at a light, because all of them in the area are camera-equipped and they go off whenever something crosses their intersection when it's not supposed to. However, the stop sign in my neighborhood gets roundly ignored at night, when there's no one around.
  18. There's a black Renault Alliance DL convertible with Texas plates that lives on campus. I've never seen a Renault in person before.
  19. It doesn't look like it'll be much more useful than the sedan.
  20. Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns would be another good addition to that. I downloaded an arrangement written as a duet for pipe organs, it's rather awesome.
  21. Pennsylvania is a nice place to be, that's for sure. Welcome to the east coast!
  22. I really love my Intrigue. I worry that I'm being spoiled with it, since it has everything, even the smoker's package (no smoke odor/evidence, though). My parents constantly tell me stories about their spartanly-equipped first cars (a '65 Nova and '71 Beetle). It turned 10 in August of 2008, but it really doesn't look that old; people still comment on how nice it still looks and well it still runs. Aside from the keyless entry not working most of the time and the climate control going a little wonky, everything else is solid. Power is still great, the transmission shifts reasonably well for having 1214xx miles, and the interior is much better put together than our 5 year old Venture or 6 year old Sonoma.
