  1. I saw something that strongly resembled a corpse wrapped in a burlap bag on the Beltway this afternoon. Other less morbid sightings: dark blue '08 Taurus Limited (not bad) new Amanti in silver my dream S2000, New Formula Red with the 10-spoke rims an unknown Ferrari driving through one of the lower-rent parts of Metro DC topped off by a new Silverado 2500HD 4x4 LTZ crew cab with the Duramax/Allison combo in Stealth Grey (or whatever Chevy's equivalent to that is). It positively towered over everything else on the road.
  2. I get the same response sometimes when I am asked where I lie on the political spectrum. The looks I get when I say I'm a moderate with liberal tendencies are quite funny at times...my government teacher last year even asked me if I was kidding. There are so many people that will only pursue one extreme...I don't care for that approach to politics or life in general. Also, I shake my head when my mom's friend talked so much about how they wanted to get a Suburban, but ultimately chose a Tacoma because of some ludicrous reason. I think the decision was made based on the texture of the gas and brake pedals.
  3. I'm a bit disappointed. The current Accord had a classy, attractive interior. This one looks to be a direct lift from a Bangled BMW with a nip here, a tuck there, and some augmentation everywhere. I'm sure it will be a high-quality work, but I'm not liking it over the '08 Malibu's.
  4. They don't drive any faster in western Maryland...I think the speed limit on I-68 through Cumberland is 40, and the speed limit around the city is 50. Nice pics, btw. I love that old Corvette.
  5. Fastest I've ever travelled: 104 mph in a 2006 Grand Caravan SXT on I-95 south of Florence, SC Fastest I've ever personally driven: 83 mph on the Capital Beltway in the Sonoma.
  6. Man...I love those Maximas. IMO, it's still the stylistic benchmark for non-luxury Japanese sedans. Congrats!
  7. I'm a lefty as well. I find that happens to me more often when I use pencil. How I hated those ugly graphite smudges on the side of my hand...that's why I only write in ink now, no matter what class, unless I have a test on a scantron.
  8. I would avoid a Mark VII or Mark VIII like the plague. The Mark VIII my grandparents had was on its way to going to pieces when they traded it in for their Impala. They're good-looking and fast cars, but have enough electrical gremlins to drive one mad. If you have one with the air suspension and it goes bad, you might as well just push it off a cliff and save yourself the hassle. An Eldorado would be the smarter choice between the two.
  9. I hope this means that Chevy and Saturn (or another brand) won't share commercials anymore, a la Memorial Day sale ads. Not only was the rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" obscenely irritating, they were on every third commercial. Overkill much? Chevy's print ads are ok, the one thing they've definitely got going for them is the photography.
  10. This is why: Perhaps I misjudged, but I didn't think a camper-conversion would be your cup of tea. If you're still interested (or anyone else, for that matter...), let me know, I'll give more details.
  11. For the couple/convertable, I'd prefer Velite, but Riviera would be fine as well. For the sedan, though, Invicta sounds less stodgy than LeSabre and just better than Electra.
  12. I don't have any cylinders to call my own, so I'll just go by the household number: Jaguar: 8 Venture: 6 Sonoma: 6 Datsun 620: 4 Johnson boat motor: 4 John Deere: 2 ServiceStar-Briggs & Stratton: 1 other assorted lawn/garage motored tools: 8 for a total of 39, but the Datsun's for sale/give-away, so I expect that number will drop soon.
  13. I would personally find a happy medium between options 2 and 3. Keep an eye out to see if the relationship does fall through, but operate on the assumption that it won't, just as an emotional safeguard.
  14. If your beagle is anything like mine, the only thing he'll be killing is your sanity when he learns how to escape and your wallet when he realizes how much he likes to eat.
  15. After we realized that our beagle had a keen sense of adventure, my parents sprung for the invisible fence. It worked fine, until Suzie (our dog) realized that if she got a running start, she could get through the fence without being phased. The fence is still buried around the perimeter of our yard, but it hasn't been funtional since 1998 or so. We found that investing in a stronger, longer leash and tightening her collar just a little bit have been much more effective methods of keeping her in the yard than the fence ever was.
  16. I retract my comment from the other thread. I don't see the Altima any more...I see the Sebring.
  17. I'm sort of hoping that's not the new Vectra...the view makes it look like an Altima with a re-worked deck. It's not that the design is ugly, it's just been done before.
