As I told Evok in another topic, I have no problem with Buicks being built in Asia and imported to the US. Let the next LaCrosse and Lucerne be manufactured in China. We already know we'll be exporting the Enclave to China.

You and Enzl need to compare notes and come back and attack this good news with the same Story...Either GM-Loving Michigan likes the domestics, or Unemployed Laid-off Michigan hates the domestics. You can't have it both ways guys. I'm not surprised Enzl only had negative comments about this somewhat positive article, but you too OC? It's funny that you both are quick to criticize members for complaining against the biased media... yet you're both one of the firsts to yell 'bias' or 'incorrect reporting' on a positive GM article.

The Aurora would be practically the same price as it was then. The DTS is still in production and hasn't increased in Price despite the interior/technology upgrades. Same with the Lucerne. It's actually less expensive than the Park Avenue. You're absolutely correct. The current 300 doesn't come close comparing to expensive European makes.

It would be a good start. Look how much credit GM has received just off the Aura and Outlook.

It won't be hard... Aura is on EPS I - LAX will be on EPS II. The automatic assumption that powertrains will be identical may be misleading.

It didn't until Dick Brown took over... 3+ years after EDS was split off from GM. He nearly destroyed the company. EDS appears to be stable (or stabilizing) once again. Still too soon to really tell. At the moment, I wouldn't work for EDS again. They need to address some more issues before I would consider it.

Yes you can. It was old. Used. Worn. Weathered. Junked. Even if it's still in good shape, it's between 7-12 years old. That’s a lot of time for the interior to slowly come apart. Auroras were solid vehicles and the interior materials were higher in quality than the current 300 - which was my point. Figure it sad that you even considered it as an appropriate comparison.

We're talking late 90's, not early 90's... you know, when Chrysler was rolling in money and profitable. Actually, the mid/large sedan market has shrunk since then... not grown. GM has eliminated: Eighty-Eight, Aurora, Intrigue, Bonneville, LeSabre, Park Avenue, Regal, & Century replacing them all with just the LaCrosse & Lucerne. Mitsubishi has dropped the Diamante. Mazda has dropped Millenia. Ford only sells the Crown Victoria to Fleets. Kia's Amanti & Hyundai's Azura really don't balance that out. Still, back on interiors... it's sad that a 12 year old Oldsmobile Aurora has higher quality interior materials than a 2007 Chrysler 300.

The sales of the current 300 has marginally exceeded sales of the previous 300M/LHS/Concorde which it replaced (maybe by 20k-30k depending on the year compared.) But all of them were/are fleet queens too. As a comparison, the last gen 300M/LHS/Concorde triplets shared the same interior at one point in each of their lives.

EDS didn't... and EDS' eventual financial problems (EDS's stock almost hit $72 a share before it started declining in 2001 thru 2002) had nothing to do with GM. It had to do with Shoddy contracts, poor vision by a new CEO, and poor upper management. But actually (not to target any type of attack), I'm looking forward to Evok's response to this. He's been waiting for this and he's probably buried deep in GM's earnings report right now.

This type of car doesn't exclude Cadillac from receiving a Lexus GS/LS Competitor. More than likely, the über sedan would compete with the LS as well, just like the Mercedes S-Class does. Personally, I think the STS/DTS replacement will cover most of the $50k-$80k sedan territory for Cadillac. * I added a poll for people to vote.

GM isn't sitting still and the imports certainly aren't. Best of luck! Chrysler: Buy us... but don't look inside.

I usually abstain from self-help books because of my staunch religious upbringing, but I have found two books over the years that actually make good sense: - A small one for Travel: 'As A Man Thinketh' by James Allen Light reading - It's spiritually inspirational, without forcing religion. God isn't necessary (or mentioned) when understanding the concepts discussed. It focuses on how your inner thoughts affect (and control) your outer life. If you gain control of yourself, you'll be in more control of your life. - A larger one for nightly reading: 'Feeling Good' by David D. Burns Heavier, but well executed - A more in-depth step-by-step process of controlling your own thoughts... mostly how to eliminate negative thoughts that exist without much or any justification... and then what to do when there is justification. Pretty much the bottom line is if you address any issue, valid or absurd, with a correct line of reasoning, you'll resolve it appropriately. Unfortunately, my summary doesn't come close to doing the book justice. - Another alternative is to make an appointment with a counselor. At times hearing yourself speak out loud about what's troubling you can provide the peace you need. Speaking with a professional would make the discussions more productive and maintain privacy.

1) There's a difference between generalizations and specifically insulting a member. The comment “import humping” has the same implication as “drinking the GM kool-aid.” They both illustrate a group of people not using logic and common sense to justify their loyalties. One is thinking with their dick, the other with their stomach (or with what they put in it.) Neither of them are listening to reason. 2) Facts are to be interpreted. How they should apply varies from one extreme to another, regardless if you're an analyst or arm chair CEO. I can find an article to defend almost every argument... all written or sourced by industry analysts, Somehow, the experts still contradict each other as much as the common folk. Separating your opinion out from the facts would allow most discussions to continue (as they should.) It's the difference between contributing to the conversation and coming across definitive and arrogant. 3) F.O.G. is no longer a Moderator on C&G. His opinions do not necessarily reflect those of C&G and the moderating/admin team. I thought you were aware of this. Anyway... the topic seems to be back on track, we can continue this offline or you can reply... but I'm done here. -

1) Thank you for replying about the Tundra. 2) Thank you for mentioning that it's a very good possibility GM could import a mid-size sedan from China. I assume this could be the next-gen LaCrosse since GM did debut the name in both markets. I'll wait and see. 3) My reliance on Admin discussions is to gain perspective of how members conduct themselves on this board. However, unnecessary insults are easy to distinguish from insight. 4) Put aside the GM fan part. You're also addressing GM's customer base. Constant discouragement and hopelessness directed towards GM's customers do not improve GM's problems either. You're there to immediately diminish and (sometimes) destroy any positive PR GM might achieve with owners here on C&G. Phrasing, like your quoted post, comes across far less biased since it's fact based. Perhaps figuring out a way to separate your personal opinion and preference from your job might allow you to state it without such criticisms from certain members here. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but it's easily mistaken as a fact in itself. People aren't so prone to condemn individual opinions as they are facts left to the matter of interpretation.... you just make it difficult to tell them apart sometimes. -

But I thought through Toyota's marketing research they discovered there was pent-up demand from all those deprived domestic truck owners? Is San Antonio still ramping up production? Are dealers still lacking inventory? Those issues wouldn't justify a $1,500 discount after one month... It appears to me they sold almost half they intended. It is interesting that very recent articles now imply eventual sales of 200k annually instead of 200k being Toyota's projected first year sales. Interesting comparison: Original expectations - Dec 10th article: .. What determines a luke-warm reception? How much of a discount determines if Toyota is having problems meeting sales expectations?
