  1. Right now my song on perpetual repeat is "Dawn of the Dead" by Does It Offend You, Yeah?

Just watched the video and looked up the lyrics. Good song... :)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the message, but the premise reminds me of BNL's Pinch Me... except a little darker.

  2. I had no idea she was still making music...decent song, too.

Yep Yep... the video was shot at a New York night club called Splash. She's currently on tour. Last time I saw her live was when she was touring with Cher. Cyndi was recently on Graham Norton with Jennifer Saunders (love her too - Fairy Godmother in Shrek, AB FAB, & French & Saunders.) I still have it saved on the DVR.

  3. I definitely agree that Audis have come a long way. Their interiors have captured my attention ever since the debut of the original A8. I really don't know of a sub-$100k auto brand that makes a better interior than what are in current Audis.

  4. I've had a couple of Cobalts as rentals and truthfully speaking they're great commuter cars. I'd actually consider a Delta vehicle based on my experiences from the Cobalts. The interior plastics are hard, but low maintenance. The interior also seems to hold up to the test of time because regardless of the miles on the rentals the interiors are always in really good condition.

So, maybe a Cobalt SS coupe? that would be fun.

  5. Gen 1 Transformers will always be my favorite toys in the world... although I was blown away by the Armada/Energon Unicron and Primus. I have two of each... one in the box and one out for display. :)

I really should take inventory one day of the gen 1 transformers I have in storage underneath the staircase at my parent's:

    Trypticon (in styrofoam)

    Metroplex (in box-opened)

    Scorpinok (in box - opened)

    Megatron

    Optimus Prime

    Galvatron

    Starscream

    SoundWave

    ShockWave

    Contructicons (forming Devastator)

    Stunticons (forming Menasor)

    Combaticons (forming Bruticus)

    Terrorcons (Forming Abominus)

    Aeriobots (Forming Superior)

    Technobots (Forming Computron)

    TargetMasters

    HeadMasters

    micro transformers

Yadda Yadda Yadda.... several others... REALLY... too many to count... I was spoiled. Okay????!!!!

I even sent off the proofs of purchase for Reflector... :)

  6. My New Lucy! 2007 Buick Lucerne CXL V-8, light quartz metallic, cocoa shale interior, 5-passenger seating, sunroof.

Lured into showrooms in August by GM's Employee Pricing Scheme then in effect I thought I wanted a 2008 Lacrosse Super with a 5.3 liter V-8. I drove 3 of them at different dealers but did not really like them. Something did not seem right. The colors available were odd, red with a chocolate interior? I have never seen that. Touchhole brown? I don't think so. At one of the dealers (Schumacher Okeechobee, West Palm Beach, Florida) I noticed a 2007Lucerne CXL V-8, light quartz metallic with a titanium interior sad and lonely on their new car back lot. I drove it and decided to pursue one. Schumacher is a huge place that employs high pressure sales tactics with heavy duty psychological warfare and every trick in the book to pad the bottom line. The MSRP for their car was $32,800.00 and they were trying to pound me for $26,600.00, then $25,600.00. I went in there several times over a couple of months. Each time I told them I would go 30% off of MSRP but they acted like I descended from Mars and there was "no way" they could [translated: would] ever sell for that, blah blah blah.

I spoke to several other dealers here in Florida who had 2007's. Roger Dean Buick GMC in Fort Pierce had a 2007 Lucerne CXS in sharkskin but they were total jerks about it. The MSRP was $37K as I recall and the internet rep was just nasty. They wanted $30 grand and would not even negotiate. Meanwhile the car is sitting outside. I told them it is time for them to get reasonable and that it would start growing whiskers but apparently this had no effect on them. They are a disgusting dealer with a ratty facility.

I visited Lane Pontiac, Buick GMC in Melbourne, a very nice dealer with a personable lady internet rep. Their '07 CXL V-8 was white, with cocoa/cashmere interior, chrome grille and wheels, MSRP $33,100.00. They offered it to me for $24K and they would have been willing to reduce that probably to $23K but I hesitated because I have never owned a white car before.

I saw a 2007 CXS at Coggin Buick, Pontiac, GMC in Kissimmee but it had an odd color combination, sandstone with a black interior. That MSRP on that was $37K and they would have sold that one for $25K. I could not warm up to the color combination. This was a very nice dealer and their internet rep was a very nice young man, knowledgeable and personable.

The car I bought was MSRP $32,500 and the selling price was $21,700.00 plus tax and tag. This was a great deal. The car was delivered to the dealer in October 2006. I just got lucky because the planets all lined up and the dealer decided to let it go for a price I thought was reasonable. My GM card points basically took care of the tax and tag. The Perrine Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Hummer dealer in Cranbury, New Jersey has been in business since 1927 and after making this deal and going there I can see why. They have a lovely lady internet rep. who was straight up with me and helped me make this deal. the other folks there were consummate professionals. The car was exactly as described. We flew to Newark on Saturday and took a train to Princeton. The dealer sent somebody to pick us up at the train station and we did the paperwork and drove away.

We planned to drive to Hershey, Pennsylvania to see the Chocolate World. After entering Pennsylvania after driving for an hour we broke down, coasting into a turnpike rest stop. I saw transmission fluid hemorraging from the front. I called OnStar for assistance. It took a long time for a tow truck to come out, chiefly because there are only a few tow companies approved by the Turnpike Authority to do tows on the interstate. OnStar identified a local GM dealer and found us a hotel nearby. The car was towed to Lankford Buick, Pontiac, GMC in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and we checked into a very nice Hampton Inn one mile away. Sunday we rented a car (ironically, an '09 Lucerne 3.9 V-6) and went to Chocolate World. On Monday morning I went to Lankford and they fixed the car very quickly. It turned out that the transmission cooler line had no clamp, an oversight at the factory. When the car got good and hot the line had just popped out. I was very satisfied with how OnStar handled this and the Lankford dealer was top notch. On Monday at around 10:30 A.M., we began driving to Florida from Pennsylvania. My wife and I took turns. The trip ended the next morning and was just over 1200 miles. The car performed flawlessly; it was powerful, quiet, and very comfortable and easy to drive. It also got around 25-26 MPG despite going at expressway speeds, 55-75 MPH. I think that despite breaking down we had a nice trip. OnStar was excellent and the dealer in Pennsylvania that did the repair was top notch.

Congrats! Keep us posted... If I don't like the LaCrosse, a Super will more than likely be in my future! :)

  7. PCS, I am very sorry to hear about this. I've been offline for a week due to work and didn't know this happened. Please take care of your family and yourself. I lost my father when I was young and pretty much never knew him. Continue cherishing your memories with him and be thankful for the time well spent. My sympathy is with you and your family.

  8. FOG... just so you know... I've been off the board for the past week and had nothing to do with this. I also avoided the political threads for the most part and can count the number of times I posted in political topics on one hand...

Honestly, IMO about the topic that was locked... for anyone who intends to meaningfully participate in our election process - the research performed on any candidate should be more than skin deep.

What the black supporters did to you on campus was wrong and rather anti-Obama. It seems that racism played into this more-so on how you were discriminated against by black "Obama supporters" than you actually being racist yourself. Your consideration of voting for McCain was in retaliation of the 'racial' discrimination you experienced. The irony is that, although McCain is not racist, Obama being elected will help our country overcome racism... just in the same manner as Hillary or Palin could have assisted with sexism.

  10. Mazda Reports October 2008 Sales

    Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/

    Link to Press Release

    - MAZDA5 Records its Best October Ever -

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations

(MNAO) today reported October 2008 sales of 16,442, down 25.9 percent

versus last year, and year-to-date sales of 231,850, down 7.5 percent.

Bucking the sales trend with an incredible sales month was the MAZDA5

multi-activity vehicle. With sales of 1,921, volume was up nearly four

times over 2007. On a year-to-date basis, the MAZDA5 is up an astonishing

    51.8 percent.

"Whether the auto industry mirrors the state of business in general, or

whether business mirrors the industry, is hard to say. What is sure,

though, is that it's a roller-coaster ride every day -- one day it looks

like we're turning the corner while the next it seems that the hill ahead

is ever-steeper," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. "Cars like

MAZDA5, though, are proof that Mazda's vehicle lineup is as strong as any

manufacturers', and we're in a great position to gain when the market

turns." The all-new 2009 MAZDA6, which arrived at dealerships across the

country in September, continues its strong start. The new MAZDA6 features a

larger body than the outgoing car, as well as more powerful -- and more

    fuel efficient -- engine choices.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) celebrated its best-ever October with

sales of 1,994 vehicles, up 30 percent versus last year. On a year-to-date

basis, MMdM reported 17,299 total sales, accounting for a 33 percent

increase versus last year. The all-new MAZDA6 also had a record month with

393 vehicles sold, up 125 percent versus last October. Mazda Canada Inc.

(MCI) reported September sales of 6,109 units, up slightly compared to

    October 2007.

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations

oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda

vehicles in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico through

nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc.,

located in Ontario; in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City; and

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The BMW Group in the U.S.

decrease of 5.0 percent over the 26,821 vehicles sold in October 2007. The
BMW Group also reported a year-to-date sales volume of 261,802 vehicles,
down 4.8 percent, compared to 275,094 vehicles in the same period of 2007.

    BMW Brand Sales

Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 13.9 percent in October for a

"October sales show there is still life in the market, but it will take
some hard work to achieve results," said Jim O'Donnell, President of BMW of
North America, LLC. "At BMW, our attractive APR financing rates and BMW's
four year or 50,000 miles free maintenance program have been well received
by customers. We believe these are major reasons why the year-to-date sales
continue to track better than the overall premium market."

    BMW Automobile Sales

BMW's automobile sales are down 15.1 percent in October to 16,195
versus 19,084 in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date sales also

MINI USA reported October sales of 5,272 automobiles, up 56.4 percent
from the 3,370 cars sold in October 2007. Year-to-date, the division
reported sales of 45,966 automobiles, an increase of 30.2 percent, compared
to the 35,306 cars reported in the first ten months of 2007.

"We are looking at MINI's continued sales success as a barometer of

  13. Ford Reports October Sales

    Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/

    Link to Press Release

F-Series Powers Ford to Highest Retail Share in Two Years; Flex, Lincoln MKS Gain More Retail Share

    - Ford's F-Series drove through economic gauntlet to post October sales of

43,324, lifting Ford to highest retail share in two years.

    - New F-150 launch begins from position of strength with the one and only

'Truck of Texas' crown in tow.

    - Ford Focus, Fusion and Escape also contribute to strong retail

    performance.

    - New Ford Flex crossover and Lincoln MKS sedan continue to grow retail

    share.

    - Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 129,121.

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- An economic gauntlet,

the likes of which haven't been seen in more than two decades, could not

deter Ford's best-selling F-Series truck. Ford dealers celebrated Truck

Month by delivering 43,324 F-Series in October.

October also marked the annual Texas Truck Rodeo competition conducted

by the Texas Auto Writer's Association, punctuated with the new F-150

besting all competitors to take the coveted "Truck of Texas" crown.

"We're launching the new F-150 from a position of strength," said Jim

Farley, Ford group vice president, Marketing and Communications. "The F-150

has raised the bar again with best-in-class capability and unsurpassed fuel

    economy."

The 2009 model Ford F-150 has class-leading capability, delivering

11,300 pounds towing and 3,030 pounds payload and unsurpassed fuel economy

of 21/15 highway/city mpg with the SFE package, which is available on

F-150's highest volume XL and XLT series.

The national marketing launch of the F-150 began Sunday, Nov. 2, and

nearly 3,000 new F-150s already were delivered to customers in October.

The company's strong retail sales performance in a challenging

environment enabled Ford to post its highest retail share in more than two

years. In addition to the F-Series, the Ford Focus and Fusion sedans and

Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner small utility vehicles contributed to the

balanced retail performance. In addition, the new Ford Flex crossover and

Lincoln MKS sedan continued to gain retail share in their segments.

"Our dealers delivered solid overall performance in October," said

Farley. "Challenging external conditions present the best opportunity to

challenge the competition. In the next nine months, we will introduce nine

new products plus two new hybrids, which together account for 45 percent of

our volume in 2009. Every new product will offer customers class-leading

fuel economy and product quality that's on par with the best in the

    industry."

Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 129,121 in October, down 29

percent compared with a year ago.

Note: The sales data included in this release and the accompanying

tables are based largely on data reported by dealers representing their

sales climate in nearly 25 years. Strong performances from the A5, A8, R8,

and all-new A4 models contributed to Audi's success.

"Audi's market share is rising because consumers become more discerning

during challenging times," said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice

President, Audi of America. "Tough economic times inspire greater

selectivity in the purchase of a luxury car, and that plays to Audi's

strengths. The current economic climate is a huge opportunity for us."

Audi was the only brand to report growth on a car basis in the import

high group in October and is the only manufacturer that has positive car

share year-over-year. The import high group is a competitive set of vehicle

brands that includes Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche, Saab, Volvo,

Acura, Infiniti, and Lexus. By comparison, competitors BMW, Mercedes-Benz

and Lexus saw car sales drop 15.1%, 42.3%, and 37.9%, respectively for the

    month of October.

October was an especially good month for Audi in several key U.S.

markets, most notably Chicago, where sales grew 31.7%, mostly due to

surging numbers for the all-new A4 and A5 models. Sales were also

especially strong in Denver (+27.6%), Boston (+25.9%), Houston (+8.9%) and

Los Angeles (+5.3%), reflecting broad consumer interest in the Audi brand

    from coast to coast.

Another sign of brand strength is individual dealer year-over-year

sales performance, according to de Nysschen. On average, the top 25 U.S.

Audi dealers reported an increase of nearly 1% year-over-year. de Nysschen

noted that these dealers are all located in major metropolitan areas and

their sales total over 30% of all Audi sales nationwide.

Strong consumer interest for the all-new 2009 A4 was a particularly

bright spot for Audi this month. In its first full month of sales

reporting, the A4 was up 7.7% over October 2007, with 3,784 units sold.

Dealers also reported strong demand for the Audi A5 coupe, posting a third

consecutive month of record sales with 865 units sold. To round out another

successful month, Audi also posted an all-time sales record on the R8.

Despite the automotive industry's woes, Audi's growth strategy remains

aggressive. Dealers have nearly sold out 2008 model year inventory, and new

models are being rolled out in quick succession. In addition to the

late-September launch of the all-new 2009 A4, Audi is introducing the Audi

Q5 to American drivers in early 2009. Audi showrooms will also begin

selling Audi's clean diesel TDI technology next year, with the introduction

of the Audi Q7 TDI luxury sport utility vehicle.

Chrysler LLC today reported total October 2008 U.S. sales of 94,530
units, down 35 percent from the same month last year. Sales for October
reflect an overall industry decline and reduced fleet sales.

"While October was a very tough month for everyone in this business, we
as an industry must focus on the fact that there are still many serious car
buyers out there, and every company has an equal opportunity to win their
business," said Jim Press, Chrysler LLC Vice Chairman and President. "From
a Chrysler perspective, we are pleased that despite this marketplace
downturn, our critically important Dodge Ram launch is on schedule and our
overall pickup truck share is on target. We look forward to rolling out the
rest of our 2009 model year vehicles with improved quality and fuel economy
and fighting for those customers who are in the market."

    October Sales Highlights

Sales for the light duty Dodge Ram (down 21%), which are still
dominated by the sell-down of 2008 models, outperformed the market in
October. Sales of the vehicle for the month reached 10,747 units, making it
    the Company's top-selling vehicle.

    Jeep® Patriot sales increased 62 percent year-to-date (50,596 units)
compared to same timeframe in 2007 (31,248 units). October sales of the
vehicle grew two percent versus September 2008 sales (3,252 units in
October compared to 3,190 units in September).

The all-new Dodge Journey continues to make its mark in the crossover
segment offering best-in-class fuel economy (19 mpg city/25 mpg highway)
and award-winning seven-passenger interior utility. Dodge Journey sales
    totaled 4,380 units.

Dodge Challenger continues to draw a crowd. In October, 3,014 units
were sold, marking a 27 percent increase over September 2008 sales.

The Company finished the month with 395,996 units of inventory, or a
113-day supply. As part of a planned alignment with the market for in
manufacturing production, inventory is down 16 percent compared with
October 2007 when it totaled 469,426 units.

    November Incentives

In November, Chrysler will continue to offer the attractive incentive
programs that were introduced last month. These deals provide customers an
opportunity to take advantage of the remaining 2008 model year inventory at
the best deals of the year. The incentive plan will focus on aggressive
cash rebates up to $6,000 and discounted APR financing that drive lower
    monthly payments.

In addition to the significant cash incentives, in select markets some
    2008 model year vehicles are available with a 0% APR for up to 72 months;
and 2009 model year vehicles are available with a 1.9% to 4.9% APR for 72
    months.

For returning lease customers, Chrysler will offer a Lease Loyalty
allowance of up to $750 toward a new retail purchase. For consumers
interested in leasing through independent financial institutions, Chrysler
offers Bonus Cash of up to $2,000 on select 2008 model year vehicles.

    Product Highlights

Chrysler is modifying three 2009 model year vehicle lineups to provide
an added emphasis on higher value and content, expanded availability of
fuel efficient engines, and upgraded exterior appearance and improved
interior materials. On Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Avenger,
Chrysler is providing customers with better equipped, fuel efficient
entry-level models with a value emphasis. These entry-level models have
been upgraded to higher trim and content levels at discounted pricing.
Also, availability of fuel efficient powertrains has been expanded on
top-of-the-line models for those customers who want more product features
    without sacrificing fuel economy.

Of the total 2009 MY Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge lineup, 73 percent of the
models achieved fuel-economy improvements over the 2008 offerings. The fuel
economy improvements on these nineteen models will potentially save
American consumers as much as 6.7 million gallons of fuel per year.

Chrysler LLC celebrates the 25th anniversary of minivan sales today in
Windsor, Ontario (Canada). The Company remains the leading competitor in
the segment, accounting for 40 percent of the minivan market (January -
September 2008). Today, the Company introduced the 2009 Chrysler Town &
Country and Dodge Grand Caravan 25th Anniversary Editions to celebrate the
minivan segment's Silver Anniversary. 25th Anniversary models will be
available this winter as special editions of the 2009 Chrysler Town &
