Buick News: Rumorpile: Many of Buick Models Could Be Imported
VenSeattle replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Don't forget Buick was just assigned a new chief stylist, Bryan Nesbitt.... He's arguably GM's highest profile designer. Buick's directions with be international and not just for one market. I personally think GM wouldn't have placed Bryan in this position if Buick had already peaked in target markets. With a dedicated team focused on Buick's lineup and design strategy, I can see Buick being reintroduced to Australia and Europe. I personally believe Chevrolet should be reintroduced to Europe. Vauxhall and Opel should be absorbed by Buick. The European Dealer network should convert to Chevrolet and Buick dealers. One of the main reasons why Buick continues to survive in the US is because it can demand a higher purchase price than Saturn and Pontiac could with similar product. Chevrolet would cover mainstream pricing in Europe and Buick would be able to price itself towards the premium and luxury markets which Vauxhall and Opel continue failing to penetrate. -
Buick News: Rumorpile: Buick Envision Coming To U.S. In 2015
VenSeattle replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
I have to agree with Cmicasa with both Buick and GMC. Buick needs to grow in the premium segments that are on fire. The Verano, Encore, and Envision are perfect products for Buick at the perfect time. Buick needs to be easily comparable to the premium competition and seen as a legitimate player. Buick and GMC do not and will not overlap with their CUV offerings. I do not foresee a person cross-shopping the Terrain and Envision. They're just completely different, even in Denali garb. It's the same reason Acadia and Enclave are successful while sharing the same showroom floor. GMC and Buick are both premium brands but their products target completely different markets. Buick and GMC combined are on target to sell over 700k vehicles a year through their dealer chain. That’s amazing for two brands that don’t make a lot of PR noise. If anything, GMC needs to continue differentiating itself from Chevrolet's offerings. Buick could use coupes (Cascada is coming, but a Regal sedan and coupe and/or Riviera coupe based on alpha would be excellent) and a proper flagship sedan positioned above LaCrosse (based on Omega to share cost development as has been rumored in the past) to properly compete against the Hyundai Genesis, Kia K900, and other Non-Cadillac segment contenders. Buick needs a proper replacement for the Park Avenue in China. We need one here too. -
September 2014: General Motors Co.

Congrats to the Encore being a runaway success! It looks like Enclave is on pace to beat last year's sales total. Ther Verano is outselling the Acura ILX more than 2to1. I look forward to see how the Envision is received here in the US. It's not official yet, but it'd be crazy for GM not to sell it here in the US. -
1995 Buick Riviera (supercharged) - Accident 2

I left my employer voluntarily during the recession. It allowed me time to concentrate on my personal life. I had some severe health issues (I'm better now), and my mother was going through the exact same health issues but farther on in progression(gotta love genetics). Well, being a one-income family and with my Park Avenue gone, I did not want to take on another car payment. I figured if I was going to buy a pre-owned vehicle, it had to be one I could love and have an affair with on a daily basis. She would be my mistress. So, I bought a 1995 Buick Riviera. -

Well, I was on my way home from visiting the pharmacy. I had just picked up my prescription refills. It was night time. It wasn't raining. There are two direct ways to get to my home in Bellevue, Northup Way or NE 8th Street. My Park Avenue was totaled on Northup Way. So, naturally, I regularly took the NE 8th St route majority of the time. Well, I was about 1 mile from my house heading up hill. The next thing I remember is I was standing in an appartment complex entrance way with a fireman and police officer trying to get me to snap out of what ever I was experiencing. When I came to, I asked what happened. They told my I was just in a severe accident. I looked behind them and what I saw horrified me. I had crossed over the median at full speed and hit (head on) an on-coming full-size Metro Bus. My car had caught fire. The bus driver grabbed his fire extinguisher and put out the fire. I some how extracted myself from the car. I have no memory of the accident. Upon seeing the collision, the first thing I said was, "OH NO! NOT AGAIN!" The Bellevue police officer immediately turned around and said, "AGAIN???" and then he remembered me. He was the officer that responded to my collision the year before. He immediately knew this wasn't an alcohol or drug related issue. We all went to the hospital because I sustained multiple injuries, another vehicle was involved, and others were injured. All test results came back clean (of course.) The officer, who was very kind, caring, sympathetic, and worried for me - said he regretted to suspend my license but I needed to go to a doctor and find out what the medical reason behind my memory lapses. Well, after several months of investigating, my neurologist diagnosed me with epilepsy. The medications that I had been on for the past several years actually caused my pre-disposed make-up to manifest/awaken epilepsy. YEAH! I was almost killed twice by the cure! UGH! Oh well. I lived. Another G-platform vehicle saved my life by sacrificing its own. I will remember them fondly. :-( -

The following pics of the riviera (her glamour shots) were taken when I went to the previous owner's home to view and test drive the riviera. The Car was bought brand new buy her ex-husband. She won the Riviera as part of the divorce. :-p She was ready to sell the Riviera because she just purchased a band new Buick LaCrosse. It made me feel all warm and sentimental to buy my Riviera from a a huge Buick fan. She was happy to know it was going to someone who would love her as her family had loved her. -

I loved my Buick Park Avenue Ultra. She is no longer around. She gave her life to save mine. I will miss her. -
