  1. $100 million dollars in advertising is quite a commitment for this car alone, don't forget that. But they are on the path of revitalizing their cars quicker. You have to realize this whole global unification takes time. There were a lot of pieces to the overall GM puzzle that did not fit together for a long time. So as soon as the whole global process is in order I think GM will be set to have cars coming out quicker and MCE improvements will come quicker too.
  2. It seems that the automotive press from what little they have experienced so far with the Malibu like it very much, but you can read that for yourself below... FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU An estimated 20 members of the media — including car enthusiast and business writers, fashion experts, and an international cast of journalists — had an opportunity to experience the new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu for themselves last week, at the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich. Those driving impressions won’t be appearing in print until at least Nov. 2, but here’s a sneak peek at their thoughts: “This reinvents the value equation.” — Warren Brown, “The Washington Post” “Except for Corvette, this is the best Chevy ever made.” — Gary Witzenburg, “Edmunds” “The Malibu has better engine character and NVH than the Camry.”— Eddie Alterman, “Motive” “Best four cylinder Detroit has ever done … sounds solid and I don’t hear that raspy induction anymore.” — Paul Eistenstein, “TheCarConnection.com” “Outstanding fit and finish … and better on the bumps than Camry.” — Joe DeMatio, “Automobile” “The Malibu is more composed than the Camry … the steering stays where you want it and needs less correction.” — Bob Gritzinger, “Autoweek” “I love this car … the red one is mine!” — Dani Stahl, “Nylon Magazine” The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu is slated to appear in showrooms in November. 3. GM might be making alot better cars but their dealerships sales and service are holding them back. It really burns my ass that they let this go on. A guy I work with here at GM just had a horrible experience, they tried to argue with him on a window part that he has worked on and knows there is problem with. That is the whole reason he is working on it to try and solve the problem. Anyway they said there is no problem and we will not fix it under warranty. That changed after he made some phone calls. I'll relate another story about my truck, which I bought brand new in 2002. First, I started driving away from the dealership after I got it, and I noticed on the oil pressure gauge that the oil pressure was bouncing all over. I went back in 2 seconds, and they fixed that no questions asked(why wouldn't they). Next I popped open the oil filter access on the skid plate and had oil drop all over my face only to find the remote oil filter lines were leaking, and I was just checking things out for general knowledge for in the future. This was a known problem at the time. I went to the dealership and they tried to deny it, so I had to be one of those people begrudgingly, and I pulled the I work at GM card, and yes there is a problem. Well they went round and round with me and finally they fixed that day. Next I found an exhaust leak on my truck, which at this time my truck was still quite new. I went to the dealer and stood right in front of service and waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowleded me. I told them the problem and they said it was impossible that it was leaking because it is a stainless steel system, I said yeah well I thought so too. They took the whole day to fix it, thank god I worked midnights at the time, because I ended up sleeping all day and could pick it up before they closed. I got it back and a few days later I hear it leaking again, and worse this time. I take my truck back and get the silent treatment standing in the service aisle again. They tried to deny there was a problem and this is when I got pissed and they took it in right away. Well they ended up replacing the exhaust from the catylitic converter back, only to tell me when I picked it up that the exhaust was bad...DUH!! When will they get a clue? The End.
  4. You will see HCCI in diesels soon too. This process of combustion has been in the works in some form or another for quite some time.
  5. Settle down everyone! Man everyone is so nitpicky about this car, we should rejoice that Pontiac is coming out with a RWD sedan, and this one shown is just a base model. I of course can't wait to see the GT.
  6. I think overall the car looks fantastic!! http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/21/pre-pro...ed-on-woodward/

    Caliber SRT4

A possible HHR SS beater though. Link... http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/21/dodge-c...arts-at-22-995/
  8. I'd have to say Z06 also, it's so damn good!!
  9. I agree!! And besides everyone always wants to tout Mercedes/Lexus/BMW for their controls. I disagree with these cars to an extent because they are some of the most unthoughtful layouts you have ever seen when you go and sit in one, or for that matter drive one. A Mercedes could keep a 4yr old entertained for hours on end with how many buttons they tried to stuff on their dashes!! The same with BMW's I-drive, it's disgusting, I'm surprised that there aren't more people in the ditch on the side of the road messing with this system. Lexus on the other hand I can't really bash them too much because they are the only one I don't have firsthand knowledge of. The new revised STS is much better looking in person, especially the new Platinum edition it is very well done. And this car in the pictures makes me want a cherry coke with a little something extra in it!
  10. The Malibu is eventually getting a 6-speed trans with a 4 cylinder. Why not all the other GM compact cars, this would be a HUGE boost sales wise, mileage wise, and bragging rights wise...so wise up GM!!
  11. I'm so sick of this approach the gas companies are taking with consumers, and the sad thing is it works everytime! The media nowadays makes me puke with their sensationalism slants, they don't help with the panic inset either with the consumers. Anyway it looks like I'll be paying $50 - $60 to fill up again
  12. I don't think so.
  13. New pics and video go here!! http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/17/video-w...8-chevy-hhr-ss/
  14. But not these... http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/17/video-w...8-chevy-hhr-ss/
  15. She needs to die!! She is a talentless skank of a whore that is getting radio play for what reason I don't know. Some of these bands/people that get signed nowadays only goes to show how bad radio has gotten. I would take Amy Winehouse and Macy Gray and put them out to sea on a burning boat. I'm not angry am I...LOL!!
  16. It is not flattering in that color thats for sure, but give me that electric blue color and it looks much better. I agree on the tailpipes, those are just weird looking.

    Jeep JT caught...

Man I would love to have one of these, I really hope this thing goes into production, and from the looks of it they may well be doing it. Thanks to Autoblog. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/15/spy-sho...caught-testing/
  18. It would be interesting if they showed the Challenger at the Woodward Dream Cruise this weekend. Could you imagine the excitement?!! But that would take away the hype from the Sunset Boulevard PT cruiser...
  19. It doesn't matter what they do, the HHR SS has stolen all of it's thunder and will continue to do so!!
  20. It looks much better in person...trust me.
  21. Damn I need to get a passport, regardless of the contest.
  22. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....huh? what? Oh Chrysler released another p.o.s. model....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  23. Waste + haste = U.S. Government. Bush doesn't even know where the money is disappearing, because he said lets look at where all the money goes and how it is spent before increasing this tax and spending more money. Term limits, term limits, term limits I say, and a set salary for the term of the politican. I'm not talking terms limits that are very short either, I mean they have to get in there and do something rather than nothing like they are now. Too much of politics is a shell game...hide it here, hide it there.
  24. I guess I should add some clarification to what I said before. Toyota is having more problems(warranty, engines) because of their testing methods than in the past, because of their math based testing. So they have hit a bump in the road, and I only foresee more problems because they are trying to grow way too fast.
  25. A lot of this has to do with Toyota going to math based design and not enough real world testing. GM wants to go to this and get away from real world testing because Toyota is doing it. I say to hell with that, don't try to keep duplicating what Toyota is doing invent for yourself!!
