The less money you put into chrome & paint, the more money you can throw into the powertrain/suspension.

That's NOTHING for taxes. I have 2028 SF on .9 acres, valued less than yours, with taxes WAY higher. I had it built in 1992, paid it off in 2004.

Patina / rat rod movement is huge. I actually prefer it in some instances, esp for stealth street racing. I see something like this and just as often, I don't think 'Boy that'd be pretty with a 200HP 292 and a fresh paint job'... I think 'Boy that'd be nasty with clean glass, some tire and a 550HP 427'.

572 BB turbo'd. Aiming for mid 6's in the quarter ~ Went 170 MPH in the 1/8th mile, then coasted to a 7.2-sec 1/4-mile at 156.

I haven’t kept up on the segment, I admit. Prolly still going off their initial few years in my mind. Regardless, we’ve strayed pretty far from ‘could/would Buick build a modern GSX’.
-
And no one did. But the fact that sedans are dying off as a long-term trend is inarguable. And whether or not Buick sells sedans (BE or IC) in China is still irrelevant- different product mix for different markets. There’s little evidence for a Buick sedan in the US to be profitable/successful. And the foreign rebranding on Buicks here isn’t helping the long-term image of Buick. In other words; consumers were NOT buying Buick sedans here much specifically because they were IC (you know; like 98% of the entire US market). It was a lot of other factors.

We’ve discussed the Amazon contract- it’s 33K units per year. - - - - - As for ‘killer’ - that would depend on your definition. I don’t use sales volume on niche vehicles to determine that.

Again; this doesn't matter. The implication that Buick -going to all BE at some future point- is suddenly going to morph over into a full-line of product: full-size lux sedans, a 'Riviera', a 'GS/GSX', a mid-sized 'Regal', a compact 'Verano', etc etc merely because the power source is electric makes no sense. Demographics & market trends ebb & flow, brands rise & fall, and while 'comebacks' of course have absolutely happened, it's illogical to think that BE-power is going to change the near future market share of brands. The industry at large is heading for a massive over-production capacity, simply because they can 'more easily' put smaller, simpler electric motors in different vehicles. Rivian's over-capacity plans for example- they have very little assurances they will come anywhere near close to their projections... esp being a start-up brand with no existing buyer pool. Right now, with everything up in the air, the possibilities are more open. Once the majority of brands are offering BE's, there's going to be a massive reality check once these ambitious start-ups no longer offer anything vastly different (and cannot compete on price). We could already dub it the 'Turmoil Decade'.

CT4 / CT5, the Lambda SUVs are very competitive, Camaro is excellent, Hummer seems to be fairly incredible (if that's your thing).... Lyriq looks promising... I think it's more than just the 'Vette & full-size trucks. But to my post- I was referring to jumping back into a segment that they haven't been in, in a long time (a Buick hi-performance model).

It doesn't take decades of time, it takes a killer PRODUCT.

Point was; Charger was a huge presence, it withered away, morphed into an anemic FWD wedge, disappeared for years during a halestrom of dullness, then returned with clenched fists. Cadillac was almost all FWD sedans, now they are all RWD/AWD (sedans)... (two of them), including models at the leading edge of performance sports sedans. No one predicted it 25 years ago. Anything is possible with drive, determination and a business case. - - - - - ?

mercedes, at least, uses 3 screens behind 1 face; it's not single unit. - - - - - I replaced my desktop at 10-yrs age, but I still run the old one every few days. Maybe once a month a 'gray shade' drops down over the screen and you have to restart it, but otherwise it still runs fine. More to the issue is the planned obsolescence of software, which stops issuing programs updates / stops recognizing some browsers. Very minimal... but some of the inherent program features I like better on the older system.

Cars are dead.

But there were gas & TD engines in the same vehicles (VW for example). I don't see the connection in saying 'We [Buick] aren't going to build a modern GS... unless it's electric powered.' Either the vehicle has a business case / is where the brand wants to go, or it isn't. If Buick doesn't see people buying a gas GS because it's no longer what Buick buyers are asking for... why would those same people want an BE GS from Buick?
-
Why would being powered by batteries have any effect on product placement/planning?
-
Tell that to the Charger.
