  1. Commercial Television and East Coast time deadlines for the 11 pm news. I think that the artificial time limits stunts the debate. It's about the $.
  2. I'm thinking that we are very close to having one, an "idiocracy" that is.
  3. Palin is a conniving cynic and McCain a shriveled old wine-sack whom may or may not have had an 'event' last Wednesday. He would essentially be a 3rd term for George 'Endless War' McBush. I admire your sincere naivete though. Youtube link to McCain's 'event'.
  4. "Idiocracy". link to the IMDB site for the film. We're nearly there. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/
  5. You took an ad hominem swipe at Biden for his "hair-plugs", so I'm guessing that you really do know how this all works. It comes down to electing the most qualified/least despised. So right now as it stands, with record Democratic voter registration and leading in the polls, that would be Obama/Biden 2008...Just sayin' (droppin' the 'g', just like Palin)
  6. Palin as 'Church Lady' is by no means qualified for the top slot should the doddering McCain keel in the middle of a prospective first term in office. Last Wednesday, October 1st, McCain became disoriented after giving a speech, lost his bearings leaving the podium, (might have been looking for his keys) and as some speculate, may have have some sort of 'event' occur. McCain/Palin, unfit for 'doody'... YouTube has the clip...
  7. Nothing connotes sincerity as a strained grimace which McCain purports to be a smile. He is Nosferatu. Das Wampire. Vlad Dracul.
  8. Palin works best when her wee head is filled by her programmers for the purposes of rapid-regurgitation; i.e. her Convention speech and her vapid recital at the 'debate'. She really forged ahead capitulating those talking points Thursday night. She has less substance than the air (not including LA, where the air can be chewed and spit-out). She was never meant to do anything beyond glittering brightly and whipping-up the foam-at-the-mouth, children-of-the-corn Bush-loyalists. That, she's good at.
  9. Making it slightly more cost-effective for the unemployed to search for work until the Depression or Civil WarII starts.
  10. We celebrate functional illiteracy here. As Chris Rock might say; "Keepin' it real, real dumb"... We've nearly become an "Idiocracy". 50 % of the GP seem mostly oblivious to the stark reality of it all and don't see the symbiotic relationships required to maintain an economy. Employed people buy stuff. Since we've tapped all of the equity in our homes and maxed-out the credit cards, the grim nature of the current situation is finally beginning to resonate with a few more people now.
  11. Do you think that anyone makes the connection between being employed and having the ability to buy something, a big-ticket item, perhaps a car?
  12. Automakers post grim September sales By Matt Andrejczak, MarketWatch Last update: 2:46 p.m. EDT Oct. 1, 2008Comments: 8SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - A shaky economy and constricted credit market took a steep toll on September auto sales, with the industry rolling out numbers Wednesday every bit as gloomy as analysts had warned they would be. http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/weak...mp;siteid=yhoof Sail on o' great ship of state. Well, it's actually the same leaky boat, but all are on board.
  13. Why save millions, when you can save...thousands? (w/my apologies to Dr. Evil)
  14. She's a black Solstice rag-top with the black and yellow bat-signal emblem on the doors used for running around the assembly complex at Wilmington, Delaware.
  15. Yes, I saw that. I admire the lines of the hardtop very much and the all-yellow look of the car suits it's personality I think. Like to see a liquid-silver paint scheme adopted someday.
  16. Wilmington's got their 'batmobile' Solstice for yard duty. They're down next week too. They were 'spec-ing' two hardtops on Friday.
  17. Seeing what I've seen over the years it was my greatest wish and often my bitterest disappointment. I trust that this upheaval ongoing will resolve it self into a more wieldy and responsive GM. My fondest regret now is that I'll only be on the sidelines shortly...not that my contribution exerts one erg-fraction for the good, but I firmly believe that I gave it hell while it lasted. Now, as to Volt, if they pushed as far as prudent, could we see Volt in one year's time? Anyone?
  18. Yes, the global economy has been a smash. Do you watch the news? Read anything?
  19. I don't know. The void left when the Z28s and Trans Ams bowed out, for just those 2 models, was around 85 thousand per year. I think they (GM) just need have faith in what they're doing, execute it properly and grow the market gradually. I've seen the sales projections ranging from 55-100,000 units per year. I think that the damn thing is eminently doable, done right.
  20. I admire the proportions and the stance of the upcoming Camaro over the aesthetics of the Corvette. It was love at first sight as I saw it in the flesh for the first time in the Doraville assembly plant in April 2006. Saw/heard them drive it back onto the hauler after its 24 hour stay in our place. Great car.
  21. Bill Heard. Talk about leveraging. Right in the heart of 'truck country' too. They really oversold the ethic there in GA and now they're reaping the unfortunate consequences of fraud and greed.
  22. I thought that I was being more transparent than that. I mean that GM should apply the same ethic and thoughtfulness, shown in the Malibu's gestation and execution, to every product going forward. Starting right this moment. No half-hearted efforts.
  23. The Legislators in DC are painting a picture so foul and bleak, that unless the usual partisan rancor and bickering can be set-aside, having the credit to be able to qualify for anything would be a status symbol. Just ask those three hapless dorks from "FreeCreditReport.com"..."rollin' phat", my 'phat' ass.
  24. Malibu? Wonder how that'll play out.
  25. My sentiments too. I can't recall precisely when it was, but the initiative seems to have come undone when Wilmington was assigned the task of building the 'L' car. With all that is transpiring and that which is still in flux I wonder how Saturn will weather it all. In the end, assuming GM fully rights itself, I could easily see the North American market resembling Europe where no single manufacturer captures no more than 20% of it all.
