    HOLY COW.....what an awesome thread!!!!!! I see it was started when I was away from the board. Ah, well ... at least I'm seeing it now ... such awesome eye candy as the 1970s is my favorite car decade..... My favorite from that era, the Caprice Classic of course! What else? Heh ... didn't know that. Saw one at a dealership in southern IL a couple weeks ago; have pics of it cued for feature on my website soon.     Woo hoo!!!!!!! Now, about #1. Believe that'd be 1904. I participated in writing a trivia contest some years ago for an event ... & I did some digging yesterday to see if I could find my copy. Found a copy, but only the rough draft. In that, we had noted the 1st fuel gauge was a floating arm in 1904, tho, to my dismay, we didn't note what vehicle it was on, so I can't be sure of the answer....     I got burned last time I believed an article, but I read an online article recently which indicated Chrysler used the push-button until 1964. Somewhat related, I'm amused that Chrysler was pushed to "standardize" back then, when now, we are seeing push buttons for some new cars.     I can't remember the last time I've seen a "civilian" van used for every day family stuff. All of the vans I've seen around here ... are either government or business vehicles.     I saw that source the other day, too, Z, which is why I kept my mouth shut ... lol. The more I researched, the more I realized that article was just a tad bit off. I looked back at it &, while it DID mention Cadillac, it erroneously indicated Buick was the division in which Earl pioneered it! At least it didn't mention Ch#$r%*et ... that would've given me a heart attack.     I would NOT buy a car based on the name ... any year MC or Impala case in point. As for the mc/Lumina debacle, definitely hard to prove since looks are subjective. I also agree with Drew & smk about the names.     Don't really like it myself, tho it does appear to be a nice evolution of the current design theme. To me, the rear looks like they tried to combine all other models (impala, malibu, Camaro, Volt). Guess that's just GM making noses & tails the same for better-easier identification?     As has been noted by several people already, I sure wish they would've included an idea at least of what these vehicles people are obtaining in place of them. That might help explain some things ... & maybe give more insight. But, what do I know!?
