Hmmm.... First, the Heritage Museum is owned by GM.... And, second, I coulda sworn that the GM Heritage Museum/Center isn't open to the public anyway.... Heh...forgot to mention that when I was younger, I... ...had "mini" cars that I "drove" as I walked.... ...believed that all cars had a combination of the personalities of KITT, Herbie & The General Lee..... He he heh.

...and how it has been since this generation was introduced in 2000. My former 2000 mc LS had the indicator in the dash (bottom portion of the speedometer) and to the side of the gear shift lever.

*shakes head* I heard about this the other day ... I still can't believe Toyota had the nerve to rent the place to keep regular visitors out.... But, of course, no word on this on the local TV newscasts...that I know of, anyway.... My buddy Ray Buck is traveling to Iowa next weekend ... and a bunch of us are going to meet up for a Sunday afternoon gathering: "What started out as me and me darlin bride delivering the Nova and the Camaro to Jim in Waterloo, Iowa has sorta snowballed...and for the time being, we're planning a get-together at the Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, Ia on Sunday the 18th of September at 1:30 pm til ???? I've contacted the museum and tentatively, we don't think there should be any problems with parking. I'll know more on Monday. I'll also be bringing the "Hello, my name is..." lapel tags. Hope to see ya there, Ray"
He he he....I suspect that would be more frustrating than anything...heh.
A Sunset night would be, since it barely moves, but Crenshaw ain't that bad.
Yeah, I wouldn't like it if it barely moves...he he he. I _hate_ "fighting traffic" ... which is why I so enjoy driving my older 4 MCs on the "backroads".... ;)

*scratches chin* I want to say that the NMCOA (National Monte Carlo Owners Association) has pictures of the concept that was displayed at a few of the MC Nationals over the last few years. But, if not, a couple pictures of it are on the 6th gen pages of the Spotters' Guide... http://www.chevyasylum.com/mcspotter/gen6.html

He he he....I suspect that would be more frustrating than anything...heh. Alrighty...I have potential routes for both WI and MI, if anyone is interested. I have not figured out times or where we'd stop for lunch or dinner, but the routes are in place.... Wisconsin: 60 W out of Madison 35 N 90 W 26 S/E 9 W 76 S/E 18 E 133 S 151 N back to Madison Michigan: 94 E out of Detroit area 25 N 13 N 23 N (basically around by Lake Huron) And, recap for Illinois, Saturday timeframe: * IL RT 20 W from the Chicagoland area to Galena IL (leave 9a) * Eat lunch in Galena (arrive about noon) * Cross over into Iowa at Dubuque (leaving Galena about 2p) * IA RT 52 S * Cross back over into IL at I-80 (arrive in Moline about 5p or earlier) * IL RT 84 N back to IL RT 20 (leave Moline area about 6:30p ... OR find a local cruise, stay somewhere overnight & head back to IL RT 20 Sunday morning) Again, the invitation is open to several message boards & others. I'm looking into restaurants in the Galena area; I can make reservations if we have enough people. Also, I'll help coordinate "carpools" to save gas & have others to visit with during the trip.... Potential weekends for these 3 cruises: October 1 October 15 October 22 I have a few ideas for fundraisers for the victims of Hurricane Katrina to tie in with the cruises.... So, if you're interested at all in this cruise, let me know.

*sighs* blackviper and ocnblu ... I was very close to where you both are in PA when I was there a few weeks ago ... I was just south of you, blackviper ... and ocnblu, I drove right north of Lancaster on the Turnpike en route to NJ on Sunday, Aug 12.... blackviper...have fun at that meet!
-
HE, If this comes to fruition ... and all works out ... yes, I will post the adventures :). I, personally, think it'll be fun, but the response, thus far, has been mediocre at best. Guess gas prices are keeping people home. I don't blame 'em, of course, but I _have_ to drive ;). Course, I thought that doing some sort of fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina victims would be good, too...maybe not. Nick, Not a hijack at all ... I _want_ other areas of the country to "band together" to do something similar. I've always said it is great to meet people ... and, in my experiences anyway, you tend to find out you have more in commen than you think you do...! Mach, Starting point (for me at least) would be the Elgin IL area about 9amish, depending on how many are interested, etc. As for that wanderlust ... I have it BAD...he he heh.
-
Heh....same here with the not knowing the name. VERY frustrating for me, as I like to remember people's names ... but, with as many people as I know and have met from various boards/groups/clubs, it's darn near impossible :(. Heh...can't believe I forgot to mention that, soon after my parents bought their '76 MC (replaced a '68 Impala SS), I started pointing and saying "arlo". Mom followed my finger once ... and I was pointing to another '76 MC. Go figure, eh? ;)

Um, only if you drive like a maniac in the snow. If you know your cars limits ... and acknowledge them in how you drive, things are just fine.... In general, I'm "nervous" driving next to/in front of/behind people that insist on going the speedlimit (or more) ... even when there is fresh snow and ice on the streets.....
-
*nods* Yes, yes it was! I'm surprised it didn't get much media exposure, as HotWheels sold the Intimidator version of the Monte Carlo in late 1999/early 2000 ... I have about 5 of those models ;). At any rate, sure wish GM/Chevrolet had actually produced this car ... Ah, well. BTW, the pictures don't do the Intimidator justice ... looks so much better in person ;).
-
Wow. I'm not sure if this was reported in the Chicago media (TV/radio), but this is the first time I've heard of this event taking place.... Sure hope that isn't a permanent closing.... In case anyone IS interested, a possible schedule for the IL cruise.... [I haven't had time to plan routes for IN/MI and WI yet....] (Saturday) 9a ... leave Chicagoland area 12p ... arrive in Galena 12:15p-2p ... lunch in Galena 2p ... leave Galena 5p ... arrive in Moline IL area via Dubuque IA 5p-6:30p ... dinner in Moline IL area 6:30p-9:30p ... drive back to IL RT 20 from Moline IL area (OR) * Saturday, 6:30p ... find a local cruise and stay somewhere overnight * Sunday, 10a ... drive north to IL RT 20 from Moline IL area Personally, I'm leaning toward having it either October 15 or October 22.... And, I'm still considering possible fundraising efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims in connection with the cruise....
-
*chuckles* Yeah, I can see where you might think that ... but, some of us are just kind dudes that love our cars ;). AMEN! Sweet pic, btw :).
-
He he he...good!
-
GOOD! ...and, uh, keep it that way ;).
-
*nods* So do I ...... And, btw, I was just joking with you about not knowing about it ... hope you know that :).
-
*chuckles* Interesting spin, Satty ... I like it ;). BTW, I don't put winter cars on my RWD 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS. I do, however, make sure the antifreeze is good for cold weather and do some other odds'n'ends for it. *gasps* You don't remember seeing it, HE? Heh...I've seen it ... I've even seen it in person at the MC Nationals (NMCOA). In fact, if I remember correctly, the NMCOA has some pictures of it on their website, too.... The Intimidator concept was V8 and, as far as I know, RWD. Even the fender flares bulged out, instead of being "creased lines" like the 2000+ mcs are....
-
A pic sure would be nice ;). But, I agree ... I sure hope NAIAS and other shows will clear up the rumors quite quickly....
-
*nods* You are welcome. And, yes, AAS ... appears that way. Heh.
