  3. Ch#$r%*et has lied before. What makes you think they didn't do it again? They told everyone that the Lumina replaced the Monte Carlo, just because the Lumina took over in NASCAR. Styling and evidence proves otherwise. According to the book _Chevrolet: The Complete History_ [copyright 1996 by Publications International LTD], on page 348: "With the new Lumina coupe and sedan effectively replacing their Celebrity counterparts...." And, on page 359: "Taking the place of the aging Celebrity sedan was the Lumina sedan ... a coupe version followed in the fall." Also, the Lumina shared types (Eurosport), dashboards (flat/horizontal), tail lights (3 square on each side, across the back panel, more or less) and FWD with the Celebrity.....NOTHING with the Monte Carlo (or Impala, for that matter). 5. * UPDATE! As of now, this is still a possibility. Since I'm now in "panic mode" (more medical bills + unemployed with things I've worked for disappearing), a road trip may or may not be a good way to relax.... If you want to meet up along the way or in Piqua OH, let me know. My cell phone #... 847- 337- 9897 THURSDAY DINNER TIME & TOWN remain the same; leaning towards 6p-8p (rather than 7p-9p). PLACE is TBD. For location reference, BOTH restaurants are on the west side of I-75, but are on opposites sides of US 36. TRAVEL ROUTE Still TBD, but since I can "take my time" Tuesday, I may take the ALTERNATIVE route to OH. Then, on the way home Friday, I may take the DIRECT route. 9. OK, fair enough. Still....some of this isn't exactly rocket science to find. Just sayin'. I STRONGLY suggest (i.e. you MUST do this) purchasing the EZ Guide. Jerry does an EXCELLENT job of giving maps and turn-by-turn directions. Admittedly, it looks intimidating at first, but it was actually QUITE helpful as I did the route in 2009. If I hadn't had that Guide, I never would've seen half the stuff I did see. That noted, I didn't take the time to really "study" the Guide before my trip. Oh, I glanced through it ... enough to familiarize myself with the layout and such, but once I started the trip, I found myself wishing that I had actually READ parts of it before hand. I rectified that the second night out by reading "ahead" each time I arrived at the motel. I'd get to the place I was staying, unpack, upload pics to my computer, then look at the Guide, reading to see what all I really wanted to be sure I saw during the next day's drive. I didn't get much sleep, but that was quite OK with me. HA! 10. True, it could go either way. BUT...the idea that "new" only means "not being used now" is shaky, at best, particularly since it was used in an article and NOT in the official GM press release. The wording of that infamous press release is: The wiggle room here would've been far greater had Ch#$r%*et had the wisdom to leave it as "...a vehicle based on a new nameplate." It would've been very clear had they noted it as "a vehicle based on a new nameplate not currently used." But, instead, they added the phrase "to the brand's lineup." If the name is Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Caprice, etc., that will make that entire statement FALSE since all of those names are NOT new nameplates to the brand's lineup. Arguing semantics? Yes. BUT ... if an individual had made that sort of statement, the public would've torn that individual to pieces. I'm tired of us as a society ragging on individuals for miscues like this, but letting companies get away with crap, extortion, etc. Not acceptable. And, frankly, it never bothered me that "SS" was used on FWD at all. 15. Yes, I've thought about that, too. *rolls eyes* Nice try, Drew. That "name not currently" phrase was in an article. That was NOT the Ch#$r%*et press release. THIS is the press release wording: Since they used the phrase, "new nameplate to the brand's lineup", this implies a name never seen in the lineup before. Oh, I know the wiggle room. Trouble is, Ch#$r%*et, in its INFINITE wisdom, wasn't smart enough TO clarify. Their own fault. Period. And, hyper, GM has proven before that it doesn't care whether or not an old name was used on FWD or not. Look at the Nova, Monte Carlo, Impala and Malibu. Besides, I thought this "SS" model was supposed to be RWD, anyway...? And ... adding 2 doors didn't hurt the Charger, not the Challenger. 17. Hmmm...guess I'm a bit confused, then. If you've done all of that research and consulted with others, then I'm not sure why you made this statement, which prompted my original response/dialogue with you: And, looking at your profile, you are a bit younger than I, so that isn't as long comparitively . Do you have a timeframe of when you will do the trip now? Depends on where you are along the road. For instance, central IL has a number of different alignments, with 2 being the most popularly traveled now, if that makes sense. A FULL trip would most certainly constitute following several different alignments in multiple areas of the road, which is why MOST people suggest at least a month for the trip. I, however, only had just over 2 weeks ... and, I've been told by several business owners I met along the way that I managed to see more in just under 2 weeks than some people do in more time. *shrugs* I'm sure if you went back you could probably find my posts that I made with my itinerary. I did a lot of planning before I went. The "EZ Guide" that I referenced before is widely considered the best source for following the path. I bought it ... and found that to be 100% true.
